Aww, I feel quite nostalgic reading through those lists. Even Muktananda is there, my first guru for 12 years: a heady mix of slick commercialism, powerful intensives and child molestation he turned out to be. And even Dave Oshana gets a mention: a nice mix of earthy cockney mysticism with more than a touch of narcissism. So glad to be free finally of being a devotee, a seeker, and a follower. Freedom is the best.

How did c o c k n e y become penisney? What does penisney even mean? Maybe it's a sign..... maybe there is a guru out there called Baba Penisney or Penisneyananda who is calling to me!

In no order because they change as I change Tolle - For introducing me to this path DeMello - For showing me how most people live their whole life a sleep and for showing me the differences between spirituality and religion Sailor Bob - For relentlessly and relentlessly pointing me past the reference point and seeking. Nouk Sanchez , Tomas Vieira - For teaching me how to undo the ego using emotional and Christian principals. ZenDancer (Bob Harwood) - For so many valuable insights and responses to my questions on this board along with his book that tied up loose ends on Zen, Advaita and Christianity I have a 1;1 with Sailor Bob tomorrow 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

He repeated much of the same stuff that he says on his youtube and now on facebook. Lovely guy. Kept it simple, there is no duality, no oneness. Just the absolute. I was feeling some conflict around my work and he said law of attraction etc is all natural law but there’s nobody there doing it. No ownership. Just life. That’s what we are.

1 to 5 huh?
Well, in order of life experience, and only that
1. God, as I knew God to be at a very young age. My family was not religious yet I recognised an absolute truth at 7 years of age. 2. Dr Seuss. I learned the rythem and interplay of words; this in turn influenced my inner dialogue. The beginnings of poetical foundations. 3. C.S. Lewis. Narnia and Aslan and the stone table. “Further up and further in”. A belief in the religion who’s clothes I couldn’t wear. 4. Tommy. A very devout woman who kept my innerness seeking. 5. Well, poets because it is a language I know. And individuals who blew my mind in their open sharing. If they are liars it is a risk I have taken in listening.

Gurdjieff Maurice Nicoll Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, on Dzogchen (especially, The Mirror: Advice on the Presence of Awareness, more exceptional than the book below) Being Right Here A Dzogchen Treasure Text of Nuden Dorje entitled The Mirror of Meaning, Commentary by James Low, 2004 This is an exceptional book, so much so I immediately ordered Simply Being: Texts in the Dzogchen Tradition, 1998, also by Low Colin Wilson, The Outsider I had two lists in this thread, 2 posts (I guess that is cheating). I'm going to add another Dzogchen book. It arrived just yesterday. I had browsed it before, online, but it's rather expensive. I recently found a less-costly used book. I've read only 50 pages so far, but it is absolutely amazing. Rodney P Devenish is a western disciple of Dzogchen, which is basically from Tibetan Buddhism, but that's complicated because the Bon Tradition existed in Tibet previous to Buddhism arriving there. His primary teacher was Namgyal Rinpoche. Devenish starts out giving the history of Dzogchen, I usually find histories boring, this isn't. Only at pg 43 does the actual book begin. Natural Mind Meditation, Dzogchen Mahamudra and the Dynamic Awakening of Human Consciousness, 2012. I'll probably start a thread and do some quotes later. zogchen (the D is silent) means, Primordial Nature or the Natural State.

Top 5 that really inspired me:
Ramana Maharshi HWL Poonja Madhukar (who I consider to be my Guruji) Nissagadarta Maharaj Ramesh Balsekar
I also know the books of Ken Wilber - but in my understanding there are teachers and Gurus and Ken Wilber is a teacher. What is the use of collecting knowledge when you have understood what Advaita is about?
