Gurdjieff: Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson, Meetings With Remarkable Men, Life Is Real Only Then, When "I Am" PD Ouspensky: In Search of the Miraculous, The Psychology of Man's Possible Evolution Maurice Nicoll: The Psychological Commentaries on the Teachings of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky, 5 Volumes
Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, on Dzogchen (especially, The Mirror: Advice on the Presence of Awareness) Being Right Here A Dzogchen Treasure Text of Nuden Dorje entitled The Mirror of Meaning, Commentary by James Low, 2004 This is an exceptional book, so much so I immediately ordered Simply Being: Texts in the Dzogchen Tradition, 1998, James Low
Lao Tzu: Tao Te Ching (Gia Fu Feng and Jane English translation, the best)
Z'ev ben Shimon Halevi on Kabbalah, especially, The Work of the Kabbalist

The Light of Zen in the West by Hubert Benoit [This contains The Supreme Doctrine (which was later titled Zen and the Psychology of Transformation) and The Realization of the Self, translation by Graham Rooth] The Rooth translation is much clearer, which you will appreciate if you have ever tried to read The Supreme Doctrine, Zen and the Psychology of Transformation (the 1955, 1984, 1990 translation). Incidentally, (Zen teacher) Charlotte Joko Beck said she learned more from this book than from any teacher.
Ordinary Wonder: Zen Life and Practice, Charlotte Joko Beck (edited by her daughter) Her first 2 books also most excellent.
Anthony de Mello: The Way To Love, Awareness
Itzhak Bentov: Stalking the Wild Pendulum
Bernadette Roberts: The Experience of No-Self, The Path to No-Self, What Is self?

Also, Alan Watts gets a very honorable mention, here. ACIM also should be noted as being influential to me.

I will say this, I firmly feel that, when one is ready, ready to die if this is what it takes to get to what is true, one will bump into someone who is, as they say, on the other shore. Someone in that position wont pretend and go the bliss and joy route, some one in that position will say how hellishly harsh this all is, and that it isn't an instant thing. Someone in that postilion wont be about holding your hand, as all your knowledge, beliefs, opinions, memories, start to go up in flames. IF this isn't the case, then your not ready, and not being ready, you will meet those who will milk you dry., NOTHING wrong with that, if one eventually sees it for what it is. THE blind leading the blind., Bruppy, aka Snuppy, aka - I do not know, nor do I care.

darn, I cannot keep it to 5. UG and Adyashanti are also awake IMO, as well as this guy, who seemed to get a free pass. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpOWnWJ5Ysc&feature=shareCould be wrong but the truth realization bit, perhaps dimmed down the fact that he still had the danger of the I bit sneaking in, hence a process - a daunting one of that

In descending order of impact on my life: Dave Oshana (current influence) Carlos Castaneda William Blake The Matrix Jed McKenna (current influence) I could include John de Ruiter, but I wouldn't want anyone to take that as a recommendation. His influence was massive, but still sorting out the bad from the good.

Jesus Christ and Hayao Miyazaki
edit: Richard Rose, various TAT members, and a couple others I cannot say here for reasons of privacy.
edit: NOT the Jesus of the gospel of Thomas either, though he is also a moving character.
