I won't say, because at this point it would be overkill, but that which is missing isn't missed when it is missing. *chuckle* Than who is claiming something is missisng? Besides sdp. In deep sleep who is claiming what's missing? I mean besides thought. Which wasn't there? ZD didn't make any claims about knowing something is missing in deep sleep. He's referring to the separate self, which isn't missed because it's seen that it was never there to begin with.

If it is not a belief, tell me about your experience of the non-experience of the (non)absence of _____. I will not give the answer. I will only verify when someone gets the answer, hopefully only after 12:00 noon Saturday, unless some publically posts the answer before then (which I hope they will not do). Again, anybody who gets it who sends me a PM (instead of posting it), I will post that they >got it<. sdp

So we can only post wrong answers? That's not confusing. Okay, here's mine, wait, actually I forgot the question. You can post anything you please, however, I trust I have been clear......if you come to know the answer, just pretend that you are Copernicus and if you spill the beans that the earth revolves around the Sun, and not the reverse, the Inquisition is gonna get you.......... sdp Is it that you're bored?

When ~you~ ATA-MT, where are ~ you~? (For any new people, ATA-MT is zd's attending the actual, minus thoughts). And, some, probably most here find the MT part not so easy. I've tried to consider an aid to this. When you are reading a book you are replacing the words for your own thoughts. So in a sense when you read you are ATA-MT, they're just somebody else's thoughts, not your own. This shows you can ATA-MT. Next try looking at a work of art, a painting or a sculpture. You can look at it, attend to it, without an internal verbal commentary. And then when you can begin to see that, you can ATA(anything)-MT. So there is ~you~ as self (thoughts being a major part thereof, desire, probably a greater part) and then there is ~ you~ as attending, in some sense. To cut to the chase, this thread is a continuation of the Presence or Absence thread, a sort of Part B. So, the question remains, in ATA-MT, where are you? And in what sense are you? sdp Using an alternating substitution cypher where the odd characters are advanced 7*i letters (where i is the ith odd character) and the even characters are advanced by 2+3i letters (where i is the ith even letter), we get the following: A-T-A-M-T 1 - 20 - 1 - 13 - 20 1+(7*1) = 8 20 + (2+3*1) = 25 1 + (7*2) = 15 13 + (2 + 3*2) = 21 20 + (7*3) = 41 % 26 = 15 8 - 25 - 15 - 21 - 15 H - Y - O - U - O Given the above, I think its obvious where Y-O-U is in ATA-MT. Between heaven and the oh so deep blue sea?

I know, my point is who is the one that isn't missing the separate self? Just like thought that claims it was there in deep sleep, it is the thought of an I, that is claiming it doesn't miss itself.

No. I was here since before ST's had a forum, when there was only a Friends Locator section. Shawn had to keep chasing us away because we kept trying to have a discussion and he kept telling us, this is only for the purposes of trying to connect up with other people, It's not for discussion! I just checked the date of my sign-up, March 20, 2009. No, I'm quite serious. If we were playing Texas Hold 'em, I'd say, I'm all-in. sdp

Thought isn't an entity, nor does it have any existence by which it can legitimately make claims. It would be like saying a computer made a claim or came to it's own conclusion. There must be an Intelligence that actually thinks that thought regardless of the thoughts as to where it may come from. When you ask who makes a claim, you are addressing that Intelligence, though the question is misconceived since it supposes the need for an actuality of a separate 'who'?

We had parakeets when I was a kid, and they were always talking to the mirror....only disgusting thing is when they'd blerp up their seed, ha ha. When I was a kid one Sunday morning when we were headed out to church, one of the funniest and weirdest things I had ever seen and have seen. There was a male Cardinal fighting itself in the bumper of our car. He obviously thought he was fighting another bird. Funny and sad. We watched him a while but we had to break up the fight, by leaving. sdp
