If a decent-looking man wearing a nice expensive suit is calling you darling and complimenting you... Yet he is spreading lies.. Do you listen to him? Or do you reject it as a lie?
If a man with wild hair, dishevelled and dirty clothing is calling you a piece of shit and otherwise pissing you off.. Yet he is speaking the truth... Do you listen? Or do you reject it because you don't like the packaging?

If a man with wild hair, dishevelled and dirty clothing is calling you a piece of nuts and otherwise pissing you off.. Yet he is speaking the truth... Do you listen? Or do you reject it because you don't like the packaging? Interesting questions dreamerrach. I have to say I have been very blessed to have known many women intimately and without exception I have not met one that would reject a compliment because of a lie. Women by nature love to receive compliments and also by nature they feel they can always "fix" the guy so the man that is spreading lies has these 2 powerful items on his side. As far as the ugly, smelling, dirty street man most women would not stay around him long enough for him to say anything. The real question is if he was not pissing you off but he was still dirty, bad hair, smelling etc but was telling you some solid spiritual truths would you still stay and listen? I think more than one would think would stay and listen then but from a healthy distance. Michael

I meant reject the message, not the compliment. Yeesh.
You added in the smelly part. "Speaking the truth" I meant giving solid spiritual truths. And I had the pissing you off in there for a reason. With your question, the only thing that would need to be seen past is superficial appearances: dirtiness, smelliness. But I wonder if the message is ignored or cannot be seen with insults and button pushing..

Well I think in a woman's mind when she rejects the message the compliment paid to her does not have much mileage? However my bet would be that she accepts both the message and the compliments. One enforces the other no? I know I put in the smelly part busted hehe It's true solid spiritual truths can at times piss you off It's really a thing that you need to be there with but I would like to think some would listen to the guy.. I don't know. I do like talking trash, as long as the dirty guy was fair and earnest in his message and not on a self-righteous jag about saving the world. Never been much of a sucker for a guy wearing a business suit telling pretty little half-truths. Either way, I don't believe in folks who just talk to hear their heads rattle. There has to be some substance and relevance to the message. A decent person who is earnest and true typically doesn't need to climb a tree and shout at you, they can stand on the ground and talk eye to eye with you and be reasonable if you are reasonable. Otherwise, some folks love to preach.

I would prefer to debate ethically. No personalism etc . . . It is easier said than done at times though.

Ah, I suppose it is. Was contemplating packaging vs. content.

Ah. Just labels. I don't apply any of those to me. I just saw a truth. Now I look for more truths, under rocks and such...

I feel that I can say that I am awakened. Because I Know beyond a doubt it is true.
I cannot ever say that I am enlightened, for that would mean that I have managed to scrunch the entire puzzle into a single piece.
It is just about what you mean by the words and your definition of each.
I know what I am.
