Yes, I understand what you're saying Silver...about moderated section vs. unmoderated. It was more of a hypothetical really, (if someone asks...why not just stop).... as I don't see that Andrew is actually attempting to stop anyone from doing anything, just more talking about his opinion about mocking. It's the seeming lack of introspection, or even the willingness to look into the basis of the mocking, on the part of the mockers that I'm struggling to understand.
But no, I'm not on a crusade to stamp out mocking here, more just trying to fulfill my own desire to understand why some so staunchly defend their right to mock.
I can't believe you just wrote that ... ... go back and read the thread ... It get particular, stubbornness is a very funny thing to witness. Laughter erupts. Make up whatever story about that you like. you might notice I did not declare a lack of introspection or willingness to look into the mocking, to be a fact...rather, I'm saying it 'seems' that way to me. I might be wrong, but when folks refuse to answer the simplest of questions (Reefs, one of the strongest mockers imo, comes to mind here)I don't think it's so strange that I wonder about the willingness or even ability to introspect.

It's something that's completely mock-worthy ... if I refrain from mocking it I'm hiding that impression of mine from you, just the way you'd have been hiding your conclusion that Reefs was being a hypocrite from him by not expressing it if you hadn't expressed it. If we hide these impressions then of course on some level we're not being honest. I'll offer the distinction that you could have shared your impression without disclosing private e-mails: IOW, a mocker has nothing to prove. Of course, you could retort that a would-be mocker could share their impression that they found something someone said to be funny without mocking, but the mocking gives others the chance to share the laughter. </ >

Remember how she justified quoting verbatim from private emails without permission? She said I would have done exactly the same, but she couldn't come up with one single post as proof for her accusation. If that wouldn't have been already beyond bizarre, she even went further and reiterated her claim a few more times - without providing a link to back up her claim, of course. And the icing on the cake was when she said that she could provide a link but declined to do so. That's when things went from way beyond bizarre deep into the devious territory. One doesn't need introspection to see what's going on here, it's all in plain sight.
