Wow. Just finished watching the "debate" between the angriest, nastiest, rudest crazy man you can think of and Joe Biden. What an embarrassment for American democracy.

Wow. Just finished watching the "debate" between the angriest, nastiest, rudest crazy man you can think of and Joe Biden. What an embarrassment for American democracy. Watched it live. Totally agree. DJT calling JB a ‘clown’ and telling him to ‘shut up’ on live TV was definitely a new low. And this barrage of lies about HB, I don't know what to say. I hope the fact checkers already got to work. It's going to rain pinocchios on DJT for that alone. Luckily JB had all the facts together. And CW constantly trying to debate JB instead of just moderating made it seem as if JB had to debate both DJT and CW. Very unfair. I hope there won't be another debate. |

Tells his Nazi scum followers to stand back and stand by, oh and also to 'poll watch' (i.e. intimidate voters). He'll sink to any depths. Luckily I think he came across really, really badly to anyone who isn't already a certified cult member. He's getting more desperate by the second. |

How could someone willingly vote for Donald Trump in 2020? That's so crazy it defies explanation. It's cult like. I really think you're missing something here. I know multiple decent and intelligent people who voted for him, and I can think of reasons to vote for him now. I'm not saying it's "right". It's just not insane. None of these people loved his personality or looked up to him in a cult-like way, but they wanted Republican-leaning policy and actions on certain things. There is a school of thought that says when you vote for President you are simply voting for one of the "teams" of people that will advise and run the executive branch. I think that if you believe that everyone who votes for Trump is crazy and cult-like, then you are filtering your reality and ignoring similar bad behavior in the other party, or ignoring decent points that Republicans make, or focusing on the "straw men" – the wing-nuts that the media likes to find that say silly or embarrassing things. They exist in all political parties. I do think all this relates to this forum. I've seen Tolle talk about it clearly – it's like the ego feeds itself on us-vs-them thinking, and makes it more extreme. When really 98% or so of people are decent human beings [*], and it's more like that parable with all the blind guys touching different parts of the elephant and disagreeing about what it is. [*] Maybe 100%, I'm unsure about the psychopaths or demons... . And silence really is the end-all/be-all in terms of nonduality. If the interest is in existential truth, that's the final word. Of course, life goes on, so, there's a "yes, but Bhagavad Gita", which I'm sure needs little elaboration for most on here. There is one additional spiritual notion that I'm familiar with that follows from that. Sekida, in Zen Training, writes about the idea of "retracing one's steps". |
