This is going off topic a bit, but I think that works (in some patients, for some surgeries) because pain from a r azor sharp incision in some body areas is actually not that intense. If you've ever had an accident with a razor blade you might know this from experience. Anesthesia is used not because the pain in so intense, but because people can panic, twitch, move, tense muscles, etc. - all of which is bad for the surgery. The sight of blood also causes instinctive reactions in heart rate and blood pressure. So, I think, hypnosis is being used to quell psychological reaction to moderate pain. If you want to test yourself you can go to South America and try one of the rites of passage where they stick their hands in with the bullet ants. I saw a funny video of a non-native guy trying it and just screaming for an hour before being carted off to a doctor. With that kind of reply you wasted your time, and wasted mine too ... I don't understand this reaction. If anyone (besides "inavalan") thinks I did something obnoxious or inappropriate, please let me know, here or in a private message. Otherwise I will assume he reacted to something in his imagination. I felt I was offering a calm, rational, skeptical explanation about hypnosis in surgery. My second paragraph felt to me like a light-hearted half-joke about the interesting rituals around the bullet ants.

Inavalan strikes me as someone that has conscious and well defined interests, and he understands what he wants. There was nothing obnoxious or inappropriate about your message, but I guess it didn't fit in with interests. I come here really just to have a chat and connect about stuff I have a general interest in so your message would have worked for me just fine. Of late, I've thought of this quote from UG occasionally “Nature is busy creating absolutely unique individuals, whereas culture has invented a single mold to which all must conform. It is grotesque.''

You just made baseless statements that don'd even deserve a rebuttal. If you attempted a joke, it wasn't funny. If your post was calm, rational, skeptical, then we have different definitions for those words ... Waste of time. You wrote:

If you mean that I have an interest to obtain anything from anybody, to convince anybody of anything, to learn from others, then I disagree. As I said, I like stimulative discussion, and I dislike when people are rude to me or to others, attack the poster when they disagree, make blanket or negligent statements to me or to others, have condescending attitude. If you agree with what he wrote about razor blade pain, anesthesia purposes, and trying to ridicule my opinions, then, I'm surprised.

It is a matter of manners.

(hint: it's not) and maybe a cousin of the bullets.. but I hope to never cross paths with South Carolina fire ants again! what angry miserable creatures they are! You see ... People read, but sometimes they don't understand, and jump to the wrong conclusions. I didn't say that that post was rude. I said that that post was a waste of his and of my time. Read again:

Read again: your in charge of you own time dude! read it.. or don't read it.. but don't complain after the fact if feel you made a bad choice! but the ant story was bad, I'll give you that and I guess we'll have to wait n see if Robert wants that three seconds back or not. but I can't imagine he would, that would be indicative of the thinnest of thin skins Thanks. That's actually a good suggestion. I don't like to clutter my mind with keeping scores whom should read, and whom shoudn't, but there is an " ignore" option. Use it, and if you decide to override it, expect to be reminded why you made the choice to ignore that poster.

You have been clear with me about this, when I asked. I didn't get the impression he was trying to ridicule your opinions, I guess he can clarify that.

It's an interesting topic. I thought I was making a neutral point, and was surprised he reacted that negatively. That's why I asked others if I missed something. It goes beyond normal "debate" and makes me uncomfortable, so I will try to avoid it if possible.

I appreciate you making efforts to explain your beliefs here. But if there is no outer world, then are you saying the world is 'inside'? If so, inside 'what' exactly? Inside the brain maybe? Inside your personal mind perhaps? Or inside your personal consciousness? Your obsessive (manipulative?) use of niceties is starting to become annoying What were the last 3 you obsessively noticed?

I'm still little league in the manipulation stakes compared to your best buddy Bill Gates only a conspiratorial mind looking for drama would find offense with that tweet Only a 'progressive' would look for the 'offense' in that tweet to be 'offended' by It's not an offensive tweet, it's a tweet by a powerful guy that loves to create and give vaccines, that is predicting vaccines are going to be big business in the next year. Turned out, he was right!

Excellent new RB video for you to watch I'll try to watch this tomorrow maybe, but who cares what RB thinks? Does he speak for you? And since the pandemic hasn't bothered me much thus far.. the 'passport' likely won't either I'm also guessing the passport won't bother you 'much', you're not young for a start. But as a progressive, I would have thought that you might be 'bothered' by your grandchildren's future though. He is possibly the only person in the field of political and social commentary that I would be happy to say, ''you speak for me''
