When ~you~ ATA-MT, where are ~ you~? (For any new people, ATA-MT is zd's attending the actual, minus thoughts). And, some, probably most here find the MT part not so easy. I've tried to consider an aid to this. When you are reading a book you are replacing the words for your own thoughts. So in a sense when you read you are ATA-MT, they're just somebody else's thoughts, not your own. This shows you can ATA-MT. Next try looking at a work of art, a painting or a sculpture. You can look at it, attend to it, without an internal verbal commentary. And then when you can begin to see that, you can ATA(anything)-MT. So there is ~you~ as self (thoughts being a major part thereof, desire, probably a greater part) and then there is ~ you~ as attending, in some sense. To cut to the chase, this thread is a continuation of the Presence or Absence thread, a sort of Part B. So, the question remains, in ATA-MT, where are you? And in what sense are you? sdp 'You', as the individuation of a greater whole, are present and not engaging active thinking as the explanation of your experience.. you are in the sense of openness, allowing your senses to inform you, and senses are not limited by traditional interpretations limited to 'five' senses..

That's actually a very good answer. How do you know this? sdp How? I am aware of the experience of sitting in front of my laptop. rupa, as I said, you were close to the answer. But silver was also close last night. I wanted to make sure you had the experience of the answer, not just the answer, likewise silver last night. Maxprophet doesn't count because he was just playing off what you posted. laughter was even closer to the answer, but likewise, I wanted to know if he was really experiencing what he wrote, not just writing the words. I think pretty-much, if you get it, you know it, and to get it you almost have to experience it. (although I have practically given it away, last night and this morning, so now you can know it without experiencing it) laughter didn't follow-up, so I figured he didn't get this (come to experience the answer) earnest was very close also. The view numbers are still going up, so somebody is still interested. sdp .

rupa, previous to that, I presume you did not experience the (non)absence of your ____.
(I forgot you don't like dots periods).......

I thought you meant ST's forum members or guests. I almost can't say anything else anyway without saying the answer. I'm headed out to lunch, and grocery-buying and parent-visiting. I'll probably be out all afternoon. later....... sdp

If this is the kind of interest that keeps you interested in continuing the thread... I can accept that something in you is getting fed off of seeing the view counter increase.

There is a saying, If the shoe fits, you forget your foot. (that's a hint).
Fingers have been mentioned, butts, heads, toes, but not the whole.
Say you had a very bad pain in your mid-section. Where would you say the pain was?
Whatever your answer is, broaden it, broaden it to the whole.
And if you get the answer, you can go back and see that it fits, everywhere. And also see all the hints that I didn't point precisely to. Good luck, everybody.
later........
