Marie and I had a great squirrel satsang today. We were talking about the core issue of suffering as being the idea that something should not be as it is. In her case, there are some things about herself that she cannot accept as they are and she wasn't willing to let go of that attitude. I said "What is it that you want to change in me?"
She said "Nothing".I said "Why is that? God knows I'm not perfect, so what is it that takes priority over you wanting to change me?" She paused for a moment and said "Love". I said "Yeeeeess", and she started to cry. A little while later there were several spontaneous contractions of the abdomen. Until now, this energetic contraction had only happened when she surrendered to me, but now it was about her relationship with herself. She said "I didn't know until now that I haven't been loving myself." I said "You know from your relationship with me that Love heals all wounds, solves all problems. All of life is a relationship; with yourself, with me, and with everyone and everything in your life. Regardless of the question, the answer is always the same. Love is the answer. Get out of the way and let life take care of itself. That's just because she's some sort of a sado/masochistic counter-part for you, Enigma. IF that woman really is your gal or your wife, she is not to be admired..."like...totally" not. |

This is simply an escalation of what many regular posters have been doing for a long time, though not quite so overtly. From my POV this post and 50% of other similar posts on the forum ought to result in one-way tickets to Ignoristan. The level of discourse has been steadily declining for a long time, and I suspect that it's only a matter of time before Shawn either cleans house or shuts the site down completely. I think he's already disgusted with what it's evolved into. The reason that I quit being an active moderator is that ad hominem attacks became the norm rather than rare occurrences, and a majority of posters didn't seem to mind. When I attempted to clean up the main discussion board some time ago, I received all kinds of hate mail as well as threats. IMO this post is a natural consequence of allowing personal attacks and insults to escalate unchecked. |

I'm genuinely and deeply disturbed and sorry to hear about the threats and the hate mail. Did you notice, by the way, that one of anja's multiple-login accounts was "billfromtexas"? Almost all of the push back I received in 2014 while keeping this side of the forum clean came in the from of public posts on this board, and that might be because I've kept my participation here relatively anonymous, and/or it might be because I engaged nearly every criticism leveled head-on publicly here in reply. But of course, I'm referring to only the hate mail that I was privy to. This idea that Shawn might shut the forum down any day now has been the narrative for going on years. And I made my opinion clear about that in January when you made the announcement about stepping back: In the past there's been speculation that Shawn would just as soon shut down the forum as bother with the drama, and really, if we can't regulate ourselves as an online community then that would be a foregone conclusion, and one we will have brought upon ourselves. It is of course a tautology that these cycles will continue until they don't, but one that obviously applies to the current situation. In my opinion, the dialog here is constantly poisoned by those with a negative interest in nonduality, and particularly with a recklessness as to the quality of the conversation. They would just as soon see no discussion of figures like Niz and Ramana and the institution of Zen and the topics of self-inquiry and anatta and absent that, they would assure that the discussion is negative and constantly riddled with the same repetitive objections. Any opportunity to devolve the dialog into personal bickering and charges of abuse -- especially by those with a positive interest in nonduality -- has and will be, exploited to the fullest extent. But the thing is that the pace at which human expression is evolving is accelerating, and the message of love at the core of nonduality will not be suppressed. If peeps won't find the offer of simple sanity in the open public square from the source of this message board, it will emerge from another. The louder the voices of hate bray out, the easier it is for the whisper to be heard.  I suspect that you perceive no paradox in that. |

(well, actually, had I looked on utube first, it would have been easy.. but I ended up taking the long way home ) only to be bored and disappointed! an underground railroad for French aristocrats hoping to keep their heads ?? so... did anything of note occur after the 15 minute mark? |

I agree that it's unlikely anyone takes Anja seriously, but I've still many times wondered why she's been allowed to roam freely on this forum for so long. When it's not hateful attacks like this, it's still almost entirely insubstantial attention-seeking spam. She's really poisoning this forum. I mentioned in the Keep on keeping on-thread that I see a bit of a signal-to-noise -issue on this forum, and that some prominent members seem to have a hunger for attention/validation. I should've probably just said it straight that a huge part of that problem is simply Anja - no-one else's hunger for attention and validation appears to come anywhere near her voraciousness. |
