This type of yoga is one of many , I have used kundlini my self , it works ok . Many people use hatha yoga , any one that says there method is the only one is full of ***** . If you like it and it works for you fine . If you want other methods just say so . Deep breathing and visualization work good also . desert rat It is not simply a type of yoga. Yama/Niyama are the basic principles of ANY type of Yoga. A person won't be able to have any valid results in Yoga without Yama/Niyama . "Back in the 60s and 70s when Eastern religion became very popular in the West, young people got all excited by the more practical possibility of enlightenment, but unfortunately threw the baby out with the bath-water and rushed briskly past moral principles, so they could quickly get on with the veg diet, fasting, yoga asanas and meditation. In my mind, this was a major mistake and possibly the very reason the whole Eastern religion boom fizzled out leaving us with nothing more than commercial yoga schools on every corner." - have you read this passage from the last link? In any authentic textbook about Yoga you will find this succession of steps: Yama (moral restrictions; "don'ts") Niyama (encouraged daily behaviors; "dos") Asanas (special yogic physical exercises) Pranayama (yogic breathing exercises) Pratyahara (withdrawal of the mind from the 5 senses) Dhahran (concentration exercises) Dhyana (contemplation of God) Samadhi (union with God) First Yama/Niyama, only then Asanas, only after Asanas - Pranayama, etc. If you change the order you won't have the ultimate result. Or you will have a pop-yoga instead. You can even make harm to yourself if you are sensitive. It is written in any textbook on yoga which is not from this pop-yoga mainstream.

I have done some of the asanas of kundlini , and some mantras , but I have not gone into the other yogas . To go that deeply is more a way of life , than just yoga , if that works for you , fine . desert rat

I have done some of the asanas of kundlini , and some mantras , but I have not gone into the other yogas . To go that deeply is more a way of life , than just yoga , if that works for you , fine . desert rat Maybe again my English is not good enough. I am trying to say that before doing any asanas in any type of yoga it's necessary to do the basics : Yama/Niyama. Without them asanas do not work properly. It's a Law. If you violate it you are punished. Because the results are not the ones you expect to have. If you think that to go deeply is a way of life, not just yoga, then you are not doing yoga. You are doing physical exercises which is by itself also good. You use the word "yoga" instead of "exercises" , but, sure, it doesn't matter how to call what you like to do, and what gives you the results you like. I thought that you were practicing yoga because you always said that you were doing Kundalini Yoga. I don't know what results you want to have practicing it, but if it is something like Kundalini rising, then it means this type of yoga should be practiced not like physical exercises, but ,as you call it, as a way of life (in order to have the results). But this is the opinion of mine, and of the authors of the books I have. I didn't read a lot in the field (though I have a basic knowledge, and a very good textbook which helped me have some valid results) ) . But all I've found here in the US, is just pop-yoga. I have a question: what are the criteria of Kundalini rising the authors of the books think are valid? Or do they say that any result is a valid result?

We forgot our true nature, and distract ourselves away from it, keeping it covered over because we fear it, or we need to a self that will fit into the world around us. Who can be honest about this enough to see through the illusion? Contemplation is remembering it, and meditation is turning away from distraction. Who can turn their attention to it fully, and do the work? The desire for the desirelessness is a common denominator to shifting awareness of a self to the pure awareness of the present moment. Who knows how to bring on this desire, and allow it when it happens? That desire will consume us, burn off attachments, fears, karma, and all lesser desires. That's the method for freedom. Anything else is just technique, or work. Please whack my statement. I will exalt you, because it will help me to grow deeper. If you or someone think they forgot their true nature, keep it covered over, and fear it, etc., then they should not forget it, cover it, and fear it. Don't deceive yourself in your thoughts. Analyze your thoughts always to check it out if you are honest with yourself or not. If you notice that you are not, ask yourself why, and answer honestly. Keep on doing that till you find it out what the reason is that you are not honest with yourself. Nobody can hear you, so be honest, and don't be afraid of being honest. You may find many unpleasant things about yourself, but who is perfect? When you learn to be honest with yourself always, ask yourself what are the consequences of your being not always honest with yourself? Be honest analyzing these consequences. Etc., etc. You can find a lot of ways to check it out if you are honest with yourself or not. If you find a problem with it which cannot be resolved, simply admit that it does exists. The best way to resolve it is to check it out if it makes a harm to anybody and you, and to find the way to make it cause the least possible harm to others and to yourself. All can be very complicated, and no true solution can be sometimes found. The best way is to sacrifice yourself, when others are the priority, not you. In this case you will be closer to the desirelessness. Desires are created by the ego. Try to ignore your ego. How not to harm yourself in this case? Try to find a feeling of joy inside yourself, that you are doing the right thing. Because you are closer to the desirelessness. When you feel it, keep it, then feel it growing. The harder it is to sacrifice yourself, the closer you are to the desirelessness. The complete desirelessness is not possible, because you have the instinct to survive. Sacrifice yourself again. Sacrifice your desire for the desirelessness. Try to find a feeling of joy inside you , then don't try to find a feeling of joy. Take things as they are. I don't know what your background in spirituality is. Try this method, and if you have problems tell me what kind of problems you have. If you really want to achieve the result you need to have the ability to concentrate on the task. If you think this method is not inspiring enough and boring, then you are looking not for the desirelessness, but for something else. The authors and Masters know about that, and will gladly help you forget about your boredom for some time. They know how to give you this spiritual drug to keep you being dependent on them. But they won't teach you desirelessness. Only you can be your own guru. ( if you really need this stuff). I also don't teach you, just share some knowledge.

True, that is true. All methods work, finally. I am saying about the method which gives the results faster. How do you know they work? I said they work, finally. Aktchually anyone can be enlightened just meditating on a cup of coffee. A good Columbian coffee works the best. You should only know how to cook it good. First relax. Then take a full spoon of coffee and dissolve it in a watering can. Miracle Growing is guaranteed when concentrating. If one wants to be enlightened very much, they will, the guru which is inside them, will teach with any method.

Learning how to listen to the inner guru will help create the channel of information. Concentrating on the ego loss makes it possible to start being more sensitive to this channel, and it starts working.

Arisha, I thought your own channel was causing you psychological distress? How are you feeling about that guy today? Are you OK with sensing the difference between him and sources that have your best interests at heart? Take care, you sound like you're in bit of a pickle there. Peter

To have this ego loss one needs to use the method that works. Ego likes to be fed, so don't give it the food. Feed other parts of your Self, those which will help to get rid of ego, never feed your ego. Not me, but others are the priority. Try to feel joy and happiness when you can accomplish that. That's why I say that Yama/Niyama is the fastest method. It helps kill ego. Because of the concentration on something that is the opposite. Not harming Others. Not only with actions. But with words. Even in thoughts. Being Honest always. In your thoughts as well. Etc. If a person starts suffering because of that, it will help kill ego. But suffering is not necessary if you try to find just a very small sparkle of joy, concentrate on it, and this concentration will feed it and make it grow. It can always be found, this sparkle of joy. Suffering will help move faster, though. The more suffering, the better. It helps balance the limit of your abilities which you have at the moment. The key is to concentrate on the things that are directly opposite to the ego.

It's just that 4 days ago you made a statement to the effect that you're being controlled against your will by telepathic hypnosis. That seems like quite a big deal to me.
Is dealing with that immediate situation not a top priority for you? What is your inner guru saying about it?
The thing is that one of the possible dangers in "killing the ego" and being all about serving others is that you can make yourself quite vulnerable to people/entities who want to make use of that, make use of you.

MrG who has this telepathy channel with me is not against my spiritual search. So, I don't have any hypnotic attacks right now. I have them when I try to do things he dislikes, or just when he wants to have fun. In this case he destroys my ability to control the situation. I don't think it's because of killing the ego. It's because of the ego not killed enough. My inner guru had guided me before I met MrG. Then MrG cut this connection, and made his channel instead. It's a long story, it would take a lot of time to tell about all the details. This Yama/Niyama method really works very fast, all kind of wonderful things start happening, and the constant bliss is guaranteed because of that, without those tricks Masters and Gurus do with the folks. At this stage it's better to be as far from them as possible because they may notice you and make use of you. I didn't know about that. Now I have this Telepathy Channel, and it is a real disaster. I am not the only one with such a Channel. I think we are used for creating some other Channel, to strengthen and to make more powerful the Channel of MrG himself. I know it sounds like I am crazy, but those things are real, are discussed at the conferences. Better stay with your inner guru, and work by yourself.

On yoga , you can do hatha , and kundlini as just basic exercise , with the proper breathing and poster . You might get more out of it by a deeper understanding of the yoga pose . What I am doing is a form of clearing of repressed stuff . Some of the methods are in this book. www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=0-9629295-0-6 The methods are yoga , deep breathing , and the focusing of white light through the chakras . The two things I am interested in doing are astral projection , and creative visualization . You must be in a deep medative state to do either of these . You cant get there if you have a lot of repress stuff in the way . desert rat

I became ready for AP in two months after I started practicing yoga. I think it's because I already followed Yama/Niyama for a long time and I had a very good textbook on yoga. I never practiced it in class with other people, or with a teacher. The textbook gave the info about : the order in which Asanas should be done, which is very important; how to breathe, what parts of body and organs to concentrate on, (some Asanas are done changing the place of concentration while doing them); some Asanas are done with pronouncing certain sounds, and having certain sensations ( later all Asanas are always done with having certain sensations); the position of the eyes is important; the position of the tongue is important; the position of the fingers is important; the location and the strength of the pressure of the fingers is important; some additional things are made, like swallowing, for ex., with certain Asanas; Etc., etc.
