There is an emptiness, and I'm talking about the absence of the traffic cop, in which the whole world comes to life, radiant and effervescent, drawing near and gently dissolving the boundaries that presently seem so real, and it doesn't matter what is actually happening. It's everywhere in all happenings.

You don't actually have to do anything, just stop directing traffic. Trust that everything already knows where it's going except you. Test it out if you have to, and just pay attention to what happens. What it amounts to is ending the search for happiness. Notice that you can't really succeed, that nobody has ever succeeded. Notice how you haven't fired yourself from that job yet. In that noticing there may be a relaxing; a space. If that can be done, there may also be a little sadness. It's okay, let it come. It really has nothing to do with you.
I'm not sure if that's where you are now or not, but maybe.

No, that sounds like what I've been suspecting too. There have been a few moments where things just seem to line up perfectly and it leaves me awestruck for an hour or so. It doesn't matter what happens in those moments, even if it's something I don't like--it just fits (not that there's any fitting to do or any thing to fit blah blah).

The only thing in the way is me, really. And to be honest, it's really easy to let it all just go, all it takes is half a second of listening or looking. There's always a draw to take control or be happy again at some point, though. Not as often, but always there sometime or other.

Hey hey I'm a real gamer too. Probably spent more time gaming then studying and I have a masters in computer science It's really all falling away though just as you're saying. I have games that I like and want to play, but everything I'm used to doing gets less and less interesting. I often wonder what to do, since I don't really feel like doing anything, but I still get bored. I quit my job since I wanted more space (or something I don't know), and I'm not really interested in getting a new one either... It's all just falling away and it feels like I have to find a new way to relate to "doing". I found your and enigmas posts inspirational and right where I'm at so thanks.

Yes, I appreciate the help as well, Enigma. I've been getting that feeling of 'nothing I'm doing is working' for a little while, but it hasn't fully stuck yet.

The lack of interest is really annoying! I have hundreds of games, many of which I know for a FACT are well worth playing... but I just never feel like it.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but since it was Michael's swan song, and since I haven't been here for a while, I wanted to wish him a fond farewell.


Michael's departure from this forum was inevitable. He, like most people, resides in that deceptive place of "too much mind". Seekers, it seems, just can't let go of the "thinking". "I got it!" almost always gets replaced with some other variation, or falls away entirely. The mind is incapable of understanding Truth.

That's not to say "thinking" isn't a valuable tool. But, great care must be employed when using it on the spiritual journey. Are you a sage, or a fool? If you think you are a sage, you're likely not.


Michael - stop seeking, there's nothing to find. The world is perfect exactly as it is. Nothing needs fixed.

- Bold mine. Oh, popee, how your words of wisdom gladden my heart. With you around, and the example of your forbearance with fools, I think I can perhaps shed my immature exasperation with the spectacle of arrogant presumption in the truly ignorant.

We are all ignorant, but at least some of us know that.

I also like to adopt an arrogant tone, but I do in in an impish spirit (I love stirring the S) and don't take myself seriously for one moment. This debating is all a game; if taken seriously it becomes arguing, the pastime of fools.
