Ok, I learned meditation in the traditional Buddhism sense, which is called anapana (breath awareness) and vipassana (as it is). This mean there is no imagination or volition used,
In anapana, the breath is normal everyday breathing, simply notice the breath in the nostrils and remain aware.
The insight is different, but it basically entails feeling the body sensations.
It's not concerned with pleasure and pain, because sometimes it feels pretty good and maybe after an hour of sitting some discomfort begins. The real trick to it is, just keep the mind balanced so 'you' feel the same regardless of pleasant or unpleasant experience.
It benefits people because, when the mind is still like that, mental habits and emotional blocks can come into awareness and pass by freely, whereas in their past, habitual mental behavior tended to react to the experiences... as opposed to being still and peaceful.
By practicing, one cultivates this equanimity because the ups and downs of life are seen equally as changing, which the Buddhists call anicca.
At the fundamental level there's something the Buddhists call anatta. That is like know self... or no self... depending on perspective... but being and non-being aren't like, True. Truth is a matter of insight, and the practice reveals what is true as it pertains to each 'individual'... and I use that term loosely.
I appreciate you asking and showing interest.
Bows

mmm, yes Earnest. That I found too, especially the bit, "After she goes to sleep, I typically walk the dog." This bit had such a huge~effect on my mind my mind boggled with so many scenarios that I almost had to go away and write 'em all down in my 'Re-collections of other peoples stories'... a file for creative writing. Some folk are so highly-charged they truelly inspire. Now about this pooch. If He(Master) goes to sleep before She(Mistress), dose that mean the Pooch has to use the indoors water-closet? If so, was it Master or Mistress that taught the dog to pee, standing-up? I have intuited the idea that a ping-pong ball was used in the coaching of their pooches aim so as not to mess the floor. What other kinds of ideas can you think-up for improoving ones aim, when one is half-asleep and finds themself, Standing at the Throne? Haha.....i can't recall the last time i went to sleep before my wife. Some of the practice that I do pull energy inward like what happen in sleep, so I end up sleeping less at night, I think thats probably true of many people who open deeply into meditation everyday.

It was actually quite interesting to hear a "day in the life" description. For me, its wake up, stuff happenz, go to sleep What has been interesting is that the quality of attending during formal practice is now there all the time. Yeah, the more you meditate the more your perspective, or consciousness, opens into a more constant shift effortlessly. Frequent Samadhi seems to accelerate and deepen that also.

What I've noticed is that meditators need far less sleep(than non-meditators) as there is less to resolve within their sub-concious dream states, due to their wholesome expressions in life. To my understanding... sleep is neccessary to work things-out when the waking-hours have been insufficient to resolve lifes incomplete actions. ON THAT NOTE... i have something to share with you(an others) which i now probably understand as i am coming back into the place of peace with my writing. As a meditator, I embarked on this quest to make a historic event(1843)something of a spiritual-interest rather than just a barbaric expression of the Crown an religious mentalitites hell-bent on doing the right thing at all costs. Sharing goes like THIS: I am bordering the subconcious during the night, oblivious to the physical-realm as my body asleep; ie, non of the 5 senses operating(cept the 6th)when i becomes aware that the story(a story) is arising and i am putting things right, when i come to realise that THAT story is not the story i am writing in REALITY. Here, the i is asleep moderating, twigging a version of my story as it comes to light(conciousness) Thus, i becomes confused trying to put things right and is drawn into frustration, realising that 'i dont have to be doing this', that 'i am asleep' and when i awaken, 'i am quite capable of resolving my-story during the daytime'. ALL OF A SUDDEN...enlightenment happens(similar to $hit-happens). dissolution of mind occurs without debri,(unlike $hit hitting the fan) absolute clarity is present and i is fully concious. ok, then i returns to sleep(acknowledging my realised space in the physical by awakening in bed) and i goes back into sleep, via the mind for a second and third run, each time returning back into the bright. My understanding i will with-hold untill you respond to this note, just so that i can see i havnt caused you mental-damage with this oblique post!

You can't live a concept. Which part do you see as the concept? spirituality (used only as a generic term) or living life? Spirituality.

Mostly, I just sit, not knowing. My daily routine changes, but lately generally goes like this: I wake up around 6:30 but lay in bed until about 8:00 am being alert while the mind and body sleeps...its my morning Samadhi session. At around 8 I get up, have a cup of coffee and do some writing, check business emails, while alternating between various meditation practices that can be done while doing these activities. Several times an hour throughout the day I stop everything and enter a state of relative Samadhi. At around 10:30 I take the dog for about an hour walk, alternate between contemplation and Samadhi. At 11:30 I prepare some food and eat consciously in while doing meditation practices that fit with these activities. At 12:00 I put on a suite and tie and drive to an area where I am going to introduce myself to new clients. When I get the area I park, and open into not knowing and Samadhi till about 1:00 pm or so....after Samadhi I close my eyes, and draw energy inward through the 3rd eye while visualizing a certain amount of income. Immediately after this I visualize providing my clients with a work product and interaction that helps them evolve spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and financially, the latter bit I do with energy flowing outward, poured into a benefit for my clients....i.e. I pull money in energetically, and pour value out energetically. After this I go into my new clients business and conduct a meeting while staying in a state of conscious Meta-Awareness, and pouring an energy of love, empathy, and familiarity out toward my clients. I see my clients as fellow aspects of God. At around 4:30 I usually park my car someplace and enjoy nature for a few hours while remaining in state of not knowing and samadhi, I usually do this until my wife calls me and tells me to come home between 6:30 and 8:30. When I get home I interact with my wife as though she is a beautiful aspect of God that I have never seen before, completely new and full of wonder for me. We usually sit and talk for several hours and I give her my full and absolute attention...and usually cook her dinner and do some chores around the house, all in a highly attentive meditative state. After she goes to sleep, I typically walk the dog for about an hour while visualizing all our needs filled in a harmonious way, and alternating into a state of Samadhi. At around 10:30 I come in, and do some more writing. Between 12:00 am and 3:00 am I go to bed and practice a method of staying alert while the body/mind goes to sleep. On days where I don't go see clients its largely the same, except that I will usually sit in a state of not knowing Samadhi for most of the afternoon, inter-pursed with some writing and contemplation. Mostly, my day is one long meditation with periods of Samadhi in every hour. You forgot to add that you are also 24/7 online and posting on this forum.

"Ritual is the husk of true faith, the beginning of chaos." ~ Tao I'm sorry the above quote was translated by a guy who is in the process of sueing someone. So it loses a couple brownie points. Is the earth in ritual to the sun everyday, or are these revolutions just something that happens in nature? a cycle that, like a season, that oft repeats, does not a ritual make :-)

I also didn't include the bathroom bits As an aside, much of the 'writing' that I do is on here. I seem to have trouble writing anything if it is not in response to something, frequently, I need some kind of catalyst, else I spend hours just sitting and not knowing. Without questions, I don't seem to have any answers lol

Yeah, if you don't have questions of your own then no answers will come forth. U.G. used to say that your answers create your question.

Yeah, if you don't have questions of your own then no answers will come forth. U.G. used to say that your answers create your question. I don't really have a meditation or samadhi 'schedule'....its more organic than that, in that most of the waking hours are in a kind of continuous flowung meditation practice, that shifts from activity to activity, and frequently opens into a state of relative Samadhi. I probably make around 15-20 posts a day here, which accounts for about 30-40 minutes broken up into 2-10 mi ute 'intervels'....meaning, my time apent here doesn't create a scheduling conflict lol. I don't do a lot of thread following, as the bulk of most threads are a kind of bickering that I don't bother to read, so its easy to soend a minute skimming through or more typically, just tesponding to the posts that show me "quoted" in the notification tab. Regarding questions and answers, U.G. Seemed to have a firm footing (so to speak) in 'not knowing'. 'Not knowing' doesn't open into too many questions lol And no questions doesn't leave one with too many answers.

Speaking of opinions...
I think questions are an excellent way to go. They're like path-markers. My questions are going to be different from your questions because they're indicating what's going on in my mind-scape. The really COOL thing about a question is that the answer is right there along with it. But until the question gets asked, the answer is in some nebulous mind-cloud.
The tricky part is to let the answer 'arrive' without trying to manipulate the process.
