You forgot omniscience, clairvoyance, instant wealth and complete, total and permanent peace, joy and ease. Yes but that's level 2 enlightenment. One step at a time. I thought it was level 2.957658. Now I'm all confuzzled again.

Yes but that's level 2 enlightenment. One step at a time. Hey ... did anyone think to check tar-baby's COE to see what level he was at before giving him all this secret-club info? It won't do him any good without the decoder ring.

What are the benefits to enlightenment? Jed McKenna says it's a booby trap. He also says he's enlightened.

Levitation, time travel, omniscience and the ability to shoot lasers out of your eyes. You forgot omniscience, clairvoyance, instant wealth and complete, total and permanent peace, joy and ease. You both forgot the most important one for Tar-Baby.....Walking on Water ;-)

You both forgot the most important one for Tar-Baby.....Walking on Water ;-) I don't think he walked on water as it probably would take a lot of practice keeping ones balance. Most likely he hovered. You know Nisargadatta Maharaj was suppose to came back from the dead to point someone in the right direction. But you know how enlightened people are notorious liers.

I'm not so sure about that equation, but I get what your saying. It does seem like enlightened pronouncers talk about how they can't quite remember what it was like 'before' enlightenment. So how could they empathize any longer? But it seems like the function of empathy is eclipsed by non-separation. One person's suffering is not viewed as elsewhere and so there is a natural inclination to address it. I doubt there would be any laughing, in terms of a sadism or just meanness. But maybe laughter is the best medicine in some cases. I get what you're saying on the Money thing too. Note that the ones you hear about in pop media are usually marketing themselves. There are examples that didn't seem to be into Money at all -- Maharshi, e.g. I'm sure there are many under the wire. Zendancer knows a lawn maintenance dude, painting lines on ball fields, that fits the description. Spirituality has the potential to be big business. Especially since people will gladly give over their money for literally nothing in return. How many other industries can claim that? I think if there's a genuine interest about enlightenment, one can seriously stop looking at pop media for any relevant clarity. They're not giving over their money for nothing, they're definately buying something. Pop Spiritualism sells "FeelGoodism". Guys like Adyashanti, Mooji, Deepak Chopra, and countless others that are less effective marketers like Goode and Cohen etc....they all offer what I call FeelGoodism.....they have grown quite adept at the use of language and very basic entry level practices that promote a passing state of bliss... Most folks don't want enlightenment, they want happiness and bliss....these Pop Spiritual folks have gotten good at selling bliss....and they sell it for what the Market will pay in essentially an open market transaction. Most folks just want an easy path to feeling good...and they are willing to buy it from folks that will sell it to them....and its a Buyers Market, not a Seller's Market, if the Seller isn't making the Buyer feel good, the buyer spends their money elsewhere....if the Seller is making the Buyer feel REALLY good he or she may be willing to give the Seller everything they have to keep feeling good and to feel even better ;-) Its all just the MarketPlace of Feelgoodism

Its all just the MarketPlace of Feelgoodism Yes, and I'm setting up an index that measures folks who are Jonesin' for Enlightenment. It'll be called the Tao Jones Industrial Average. <rimshot>
