instead of "ignoring thought", have you ever tried observing your thoughts from an unbiased detached perspective, to see if they are true or not? What the hell is 'observing your thoughts' no matter what kind of perspective but just more thinkin'? Observing thought isn't really the 'more thinkin' part, but the 'seeing if they are true or not' is. You observe thought from vantage point of what you are.

It sure seems like the same ball o' wax to me, jess sayin'. I'm just not sure how 'looking' at thoughts isn't part n parcel of thinking. What do you think?

I don't, usually, except when I hafta (like when I'm trying to read one of laughnigma's posts). Otherwise, you can try figuring out what it is, exactly, that's 'looking' at thoughts.

I think we're treacherously close to what is meant in the Bible where it says "ye strain on a gnat and swallow a camel."

I don't eat either gnats or camels (at least intentionally).

I don't eat dog, but I've eaten dog without being aware that I was eating dog. (I didn't like it, btw). What with Jack-in-the-Box horse meat incident, who knows?

What the hell is 'observing your thoughts' no matter what kind of perspective but just more thinkin'? yes, thoughts examining previous thoughts does nothing. its a never ending merry go round ... new information comes in, you might "change your mind" .. then maybe more information, and you might change your mind again .. and on and on "but how do I ...?" unrelenting sincerity, honesty .. yada yada
