From my experience, the one ended stick that everyone is looking for is immortality, and not happiness. That is, most people are terrified by oblivion, and they are very aware that continuous happiness is not possible.

Yup, though it doesn't have to end in exhaustion. An alternative is to simply notice the tail is attached to your own butt. Hehe. A dog chases it's tail, because that's the simple expression of emptiness, or God, or the eternal... Noticing your tail is attached to your butt is the illusory interpretation, that separates us from that expression and what's gotten us into trouble in the first place... Just be like the dog chasing your tail and forget about the rest... Okay, lets not glorify tail chasing. Hehe.

That is, most people are terrified by oblivion, and they are very aware that continuous happiness is not possible. I don't think hardly anyone is aware of that. I think most have convinced themselves that they've made themselves happier, or slipped up somewhere along the way and used to be happier, or just haven't figured it out yet. Also, immortality is the consolation prize for most who suspect they never will figure it out.

ROFLOL If I had a camera, I'd videotape it. Maybe he has a long tail. Thinking about it, it's only the bigger dog I've seen catch his own tail. I bet if I did some video searches I could find an example; surely my dog is not so unique. I've had a of dog that would do the running around chasing his tail, but when he finally "caught up" he'd just stop, sit down and carry on with the business of the day. Y'know nibbling at a flee causing the discomfort, licking his ass, polishing the jewels, and whatever, so to speak. But interestingly, the tail, once figured out figured out by the mind, can even be projected onto 'other things', and the show might unconsciously go on! Gotta see the process...and take proverbial step back, hehe. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGO66dR7VjkLife's a funny thing...at least when one can see What Is.

What, you didn't like my additional historo-metaphorical description of what 'hopefully' happens after a dog metaphorically chases and catches its tail?! My sincere apologies.

Just let things like comments wear you down. Eventually there is really nothing that sticks and creates a reaction worthy of identifying with for too long...thus creating/re-creating a me. hehe
That's kinda sorta what all is going on here, but not really Here, though Here is always just prior to here, and most are just not aware of themselves as Awareness Being Here as Wholeness (conceptually speaking, of course) prior to division and suffering of identifying as some me that doesn't really exist, and without which contexts can not exist in which such comments affect you.
Am I being clear here? hehe

TRF, you speak with quite a bit of authority. So I have a question. For you, was there an instance when the truth was seen, or is it more of a gradual process? I don't know if I've seen the truth, to be perfectly honest. But a gradual process is certainly how it has manifested for me. To be what you are, or the dog chasing it's tail, is the only thing that is real. And although I can see that, I haven't actually been that. Or actually we were all that, but somehow we lost it. And thus the search, to find that which we've never really lost at all... My endeavor is to 'be' that, that which we already are. Self inquiry has been the catalyst, that has helped to pull back the curtains for a glimpse of our true nature. Each of us has to discover the meaning of the dog chasing his tail, for ourselves. And the beauty of it all, is that you are already that.

If you get a gumption, let the board know what resonance you come up with. Love to hear any and all honest intentions of our game here. As an educator/trainer, I know that everyone is IT a little differently, which is great. Generally speaking, I just ramble on and on and on, but I like to try different vocabulary and genres of expression for whatever reason. I have a Perfectly screwed up bit of grey matter between the ears that I play with like clay. I like to keep it nimble and not let it harden too much, hehe.

Here's a nice video of what it is to watch another be caught up in the dream, live in existential fear, run like hell to get out of that predicament, and then for whatever reason, just wake up. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LzMAXqu8qU&NR=1&feature=fvwpBeing aware that you are dreaming, that you are living in existential fear, that you are trying to escape What Is, is the waking up. The fear and suffering, without the gravitational pull of the believed in self, naturally starts to fall away, even though life goes on. In the world, but not necessarily of it.
