I've always looked upon such practices, methods, techniques or whatever as more or less the energetic phenomenon of just breaking up some completely misunderstood monolithic idea/belief/concept of self. That big idea is interesting because of all the relative unconsciousness making it up and the gravity with which it creates limitations/boundaries. Why it all seems to need to happen I have no idea, but it sure is cool.

Sometimes I feel like I'm burning from the inside out.

thanks E.
It's easy to pursue these things because they're easy to grab on to. We hear that the guru experienced kundalini awakening so we meditate on our chakras and do energy work, we hear about the guru becoming loving and self less, so we start giving to charity, etc. It's much harder (maybe impossible) to pursue pure Truth itself, gosh I don't even know what the Truth is, so how can I pursue it as a goal? The best I can do is try to find what's UNtrue.

Zakly. Truth can't be found by anybody since it isn't lost and isn't other than what's looking and can't be identified or objectified. What isn't True falls away when seen for what it is, and illusions CAN be seen because they are objects of mind. What is True can never fall away, it can only become more obvious in the absence of that illusion. The 'path' becomes a game of weeding out distractions from the obvious.
As blocks are released in the mind, the body may reflect this change in the form of increased energy flow, which is why Zen and many others have experienced this energy whether there was an interest or belief in it or not, but as with everything that happens here, it is an effect and not a cause.

Seriously if you have that much heat going on you would be good to check out some Chinese medicine that will balance and cool you down. What is going on is not some magical Kundlini but a very large imbalance of energies. Michael

Those are some really interesting experiences, Enigma. Do you also experience other signs of increased metabolism, such as rapid growth of hair and nails, quick wound healing (a cut for example), short sleep, fast talking, etc ? Do you drink coffee? I only experience mild currents through the skin, but they don't go any deeper. And some sleeplessness from time to time.

No, it's not actually a high metabolism, and my body temperature is normal. For me, this energy doesn't directly translate into physical energy for the body or measurable heat in the body. In fact, it can be draining. It doesn't feel like a normal body overheating, really. It feels like a hot flow running up the middle of my body, like I'm being cooked from the inside out. The sweating doesn't always happen, (usually only at night) but the 'cooking' does.

Of anyone the Chinese are the ones that are most up on flows of any kind but hey like I say if it's not a bugger then no need to do anything. Michael

Its a remembering of what you already are. Dwell on the thought I Am. Repeated attempts and you will awaken Be witness to all that is fleeting that is: See Mind/thoughts, body and the world as a movie/dream and go inside to the ever permanent its here and now and you will awaken Diss associate from what you are not that is: The mind is busy-when lots of thoughts are happening The mind is thinking The mind is active The body is moving The body is tied The body is aching The body is itchy etc The world is changing The world is not permanent The world is fleeting I am not the body I am not the mind I am not of this world I am nothing that is fleeting I AM

Michael There's nothing wrong with the body, and medicines, Chinese or otherwise, won't help. Nothing is going to put the snake back to sleep, which is one of the points being made here. If anyone else is experiencing various Kundalini symptoms, it's my perspective that these symptoms are a direct result of obstructions to the energy flow. At relatively low energy flows, this becomes a process of mental/emotional purification. At higher levels, the physical mechanism is simply being pushed to it's limits. To what end, I don't know, and have ceased to care.

It does not want to get diluted into nothing. This then becomes severe mental/emotional pain that has got to be dealt with. Facing it eventually dissolves the obstruction and a period of relative peace might come. But then we get to new boundaries and new issues. This is exactly my experience the last two years. How does this relate to understanding/realization? Sometimes I get the feeling that teachers think its a purely mental thing. "drop it all and you will see", but that wouldn't have worked in my case, the process seem to be 90% at gut level.

Purification is the process of 'burning away' illusions that distract and divert attention from 'what is'. It's descriptive rather than prescriptive.

Yogi Bhajan became Master of Kundalini Yoga has taught over 1 million students on awakening what you call this sleeping snake and not a 1 has had experiences like you are describing. The chances are it's something else. This Kundlini myth became popular when Gopi Krshnia wrote his book. The ego loves this kind of identification. www.whitetantricyoga.com/Michael

Something that's being said here is that Kundalini doesn't cause awakening, so yes, that game is played differently. Usually, there's lots of exciting experiences and powerful feelings and shaking and frothing at the mouth and such. Hehe. It seems to me like a more physical version of mind states, and leads you right back to where you started, perhaps a little more Shaktipat arrogant, and maybe having to wrestle with the snake. I can see how it would be an interesting distraction, but the goal is actually to get rid of distractions along with the attending beliefs.
