Hey Michael. Yes I'm familiar with this Jed quote.
Although who is this self that these words ring true for? hehe ;D

Well first off jasonl, you busted me on my edited post, not that my idea changed, just the phrasing. Yeah michael, I'm not looking to awaken, that is just some abstract word which means nothing to me. Nature often explains things to me better than words ever will. I have tomato seeds in my freezer waiting for some warm soil, and hopefully next summer I'll be enjoying a BLT sandwich. Right now those seeds are full of potential, but without favorable conditions, that potential will go unrealized. I intend to nurture those seeds to maturity, but even with vigilance on my part, only nature can make a tomato fruit, I'm just along for the ride.

Looks to me like the whole non-dual point is being missed (by nobody in particular). There's nobody dragging a body/mind along, and nobody who has to deal with this relative world. This is the delusion that results in suffering; the notion that somebody has a body/mind and has to hold their life up. Life is taking care of itself. The whole idea is to get the 'hell' out of the way.

I agree somewhat. I never felt that I had much at all to do with holding my life up.
I am posting like this as a protagonist. It's really good not to think of awakening as some sort of magic bullet. It does help for sure. However just adopting a new way of living helps and can help as much as a awakening imo. But not only help but also to live as real happiness and this is really all we need or want.
Here's my example on how I live my life which could be due to a awakening experience or not.
I have found that in this life most people have mistaken pleasure for happiness. Now the flip side of the pleasure coin is pain. For myself true happiness is the knowing that I am not the do-er. That what ever happens is by cosmic law it has already happen by the time it becomes witness by me. True happiness is simply abiding in this truth. I find when I do not and want something else to happen and try to make it happen instead of allowing what is not only do I have suffering but I also have a disconnect from Source hence the end result is unhappiness.
Now living this way by not getting involved and allowing just what is can be lived by anyone. You do not need any kind of a awakening experience to live like this. It's true living and you will always stay connected and non involved. If you slip like we all do at times you catch yourself and you see in that moment that something just does not feel right and then you see that somewhere you allowed a certain thought to rise and you got involved in a situation instead of just letting it be.
This is how I live my life but I still take good care of my body/mind etc.
Peace Michael

Well, what you're saying is 'you' don't take care of your body, mind, etc, right?

Words are misleading here on the practical side yes I take care of my body. I eat healthy most of the times. If the body gets sick and I get my rest or go to the doctors.
I tend to keep my mind on the quiet side and not to subject it to loud unsettling music etc.
Pretty simple stuff it does not mean that you need to disconnect from source by trying to make something that is not. It's called true living imo

With me I've always wanted to live healthy, but I never could seem to do it. Now it's just happening somehow.
But in the moment it normally feels like there's a me doing it. It's only when I look deeper I can't find anything.

It's only when I look deeper I can't find anything. It's like that. A recent example was going on a long hike. My body tends to be on the low blood sugar side and I use to have a habit of not drinking enough to keep myself hydrated on my hikes. The combination of both low blood sugar and not enough fluids can and does turn into a nasty headache. Now when I go on a good hike Gatorade and some candy bars or trail mix just shows up. The only changed I made was my attitude towards what is. No thinking is necessary on my part it just happens. Michael

Both except I prefer the phrase " abiding acceptance" than allowed.

Both except I prefer the phrase " abiding acceptance" than allowed. And I prefer scratching the back of my head with my big toe.

Hmmmm you must be very flexible.
Being flexible is a good part of it.
