thanks all ... update from Ian's sister, Mima ...
Ok update.... surgery went ok...he's out of surgery and in the ICU. There is a hole that was cut into his skull to allow the swelling of his brain to go down. He is an chemically induced coma so there is no waking up whatsoever for recovery. He is doing ok. Thank you for all your prayers! Keep them coming people! Love you all!

well, Ian is the son of my wife's brother Frank. he is nineteen years old, a fine athlete and a caring, compassionate young man who just started college. I remember when he and his brother Dylan would come down to visit to see my wife who was sick at the time with ovarian cancer. as many of you know, my Maryann passed away on 2/11/09 but Ian and his brother were just the epitomy of concern and care whenever we came in contact with them. Ian lives with his mom and dad and brother in upstate New York in the town of Marlboro. He was leaving the parking lot of CVS and was t-boned by an oncoming truck. I don't know who was at fault.

the 2nd surgery is over and things are worse than they originally thought. the blood clot was very large and the swelling continues. the next 48 hrs will be crucial. I'll be heading upstate later on today.

charliegee,
Thank you for sharing. Ian sounds like a fine young man. Seeing his photo on Facebook he looks like a fighter who doesn't give up. I'm sure your presence will be a comfort to Ian and his family.
Karen, thanks for the Facebook link.
