Gopal, have you ever seen 2001 A Space Odyssey? This argument does not fit for you pilgrims, let us argue about bible. You discontinued that day, may be we could continue that. But this argument does not suite for you. A yes or a no would have been good. I will try to consider another OT ~Jesus~ appearance.

You should watch 'The Adjustment Bureau' with Matt Damon. Not because of any argument we are having, but because I think you will find the idea very interesting. Yes, most excellent film. I can even see Gopal as Matt Damon. The dude was persistent.

That would be because there is duality. 😀 Not all sages withdraw from the world. Many are active in the community. It depends on your vasanas. Ah, those darn vasanas again! I hate that. Once you think you're done, another vasana comes along. There are many examples of sages who actually try to change what is happening in society. You shouldn't just fall back to Ramana as if his lifestyle is the default for a sage. It isn't.

Fake sages like Mother Therese, didn't.

I have no idea what that means, but that's okay. All I can say is that the roller coaster disappears when the "me" disappears. Entire life is roller-coaster, it wouldn't go away. The ups and down continue to be in everyone's life. But how much it goes up and down that depends upon the clarity of the person. How can there be a person riding a roller coaster is there is no person? Find out what is reading these words, and then let us know if THAT is riding a roller coaster.

I will share something for your daughter. My former was pretty smart. When the kids were young she always gave them a choice. Do you want vanilla or chocolate? Do you want to wear the blue dress today or the yellow dress? IOW, she (or we) chose the choices. Either way, we got what we wanted, and the kid thought they were choosing. This works...maybe up to the teen years, then you have to throw the book out of the window. Life is a test, a school, a training ground. Polarity is necessary, up and down is necessary, until it isn't. At a certain point you just face whatever comes today, good or bad, doesn't matter. IOW, the rollercoaster no longer matters. When you are hit in the face with a s**t sandwich, and you have no reaction whatsoever, that's when you know you are free. zd is not saying, for me he's not saying, there are no ups and downs, he's saying the universe is the parent giving the kid a choice, that doesn't matter. You get to the point it doesn't matter. {[And sree, if you happen to read this, that's my definition of no-self. Your tirades show for me you are not free of self (as you say you are)]}.

Haha that's a classic NLP language strategy....''would you like to brush your teeth now, or in 15 minutes time?'' Yeah, most folks wise up to that one as they get older I reckon, the presupposition becomes too obvious....'you are brushing your teeth'.

Lawrence Toppman. He was here at least 15-20 years, I don't know how he kept the job. I search, he was here 40 YEARS! He starts going on like the Adjustment guys were angels, and angels would not this or that. Nowhere is there an indication they are angels. But I had to stop reading his reviews before seeing the film. This was when he gave away a whole film in the first sentence. He said of course Hollywood would never drop the A-Bomb. It was Crimson Tide with Denzel. He ruined that film for me. But, basically, I never read him again. It was very rare that I wanted his opinion after seeing a film. www.charlottemagazine.com/how-long-will-the-os-lawrence-toppman-keep-his-job/He did get sent to the bleachers when the economy tanked in 2008. He did some other articles, but didn't review films for a good while.

Nobody wants to read a film review and get an actual spoiler, some of the previews are bad enough these days. This will sound odd, but sometimes I might want to watch a film because I know it's a good quality film, but if it's a tense film, or has some scary moments, then I will read a full wiki-synopsis before to prep myself. There are times when I like to know exactly what I'm getting! (but not by casually reading the reviews in a newspaper!).

Almost a 'Terminator' level of persistence.... except born out of love. After seeing the film I had to check out the short story by Philip K Dick on which the film is based (The Adjustment Team). As I recall it's only about 15 pages. I had to know about the "computer" tablets. The story was written in the '50's. PKD exactly described a tablet over 50 years in advance. I was amazed. I checked, 1954. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adjustment_Team

Many times I don't even watch trailers, images stick in my mind, I keep waiting for the image while watching the film.

I would put it somewhat differently, but we're probably pointing to the same sort of thing. I'm saying that the idea of a psychological roller coaster of responses to life events involves reflection about what's going on, self-referentiality, and judgment. If there's no reflection, judgment, or sense of separateness, then there's simply whatever is happening, and one responds to whatever's happening directly. Good, bad, up, and down all go out the window. Just this; chopping wood, carrying water, and dealing with life events however they occur. The Chinese farmer story also points to the same way of life. Pure isness. Do what needs to be done and then do the next thing that needs to be done. It's a condition of ceaseless flow or unfolding without resistance to whatever is happening. A tornado wipes out the neighborhood? Clean up the mess. A flood comes? Move to higher ground. Equanimity continues regardless.
