I deleted my previous post, because I felt the mistake in 'arguing' about this topic with people who are not interested in it. But I do value this forum as a resource for people who are interested in these things. I'm not sure what the viewpoint is called, but it's pointed to by Tolle, Niz, and others. I think the forum was originally founded with that viewpoint, and I hope it remains a part of the forum. I'll try to do my part by not getting too sucked into political discussions and ungrounded debates. Yes, Shawn Nevins, who started the forum, was influenced heavily by Richard Rose, and today he is actively involved in the TAT foundation as one of the trustees. Because of his interest in ND, the forum was primarily set up and oriented toward people who were equally interested in non-duality, and that includes all of the non-dual spiritual traditions such as Zen, Advaita Vedanta, Mystical Christianity, etc. Most posters who visit this site are interested in existential understanding and how existential realizations and experiences affect everyday life. The predominant theme concerns how to see through cognitive illusions created by cultural conditioning, how to attain Self realization, and what happens along the ND pathway that leads to peace, freedom, equanimity, and understanding.

Politics is the ego trying to save a world that doesn't need saving.

Politics is the ego trying to save a world that doesn't need saving. well Eisenhower used his political capital to get the interstate system built and that alone saved trillions of gallons of gas and countless hours of commuters travels. That's a way to look at it. But he also fostered an era that destroyed mass transit in the U.S. Standard Oil, Firestone and GM were convicted and fined for monopolistic actions. Slap on the wrist fine. They bought mass transit companies and shut them down. I know folks who lived in LA in the fifties who said you could go anywhere on a trolley for pennies. Not sure the advent of the automobile is such a great thing. It certainly has contributed to pollution and global warming. If engaging in this tit for tat gets you off. Cool. I'm just saying some of us would prefer an ND site not monopolized by it. Except of course for reefs who practices enlightened politics.
