A commentary: In the winter when it snows, we shovel the sidewalk and spread the salt...the sage is not troubled by this before, or after. Yet the path to the car is cleared, and in it there is an astonishing wonder, for the cleared eye'd one. "Is that so?" I was correct did you not read my previous post..Ok here is what I picked up from this story since I really don't understand the question I will answer it this way when the master says is that so he was showing Equanimity as he did not allow this to interfere with his inner life and he also show acceptance with whatever life throws at you also he did not judge them for what they did to him Read more: spiritualteachers.proboards.com/thread/4768/koan-contest-deadly-serious-fun?page=5#ixzz4Sgz5OOuRlol...Good enough though lacking in Zenplicity lol What was Hakuin thinking?: "Is that so?" And then what?: "Get the milk, change the diaper, play with the baby..." And then what?: "pass the baby, drink the milk in full enjoyment!" Delete these at your leisure ZD ;-)

ahh....you were on the right path to the temple, then you went astray....read the koan again, there is a very beautiful Zen Mind life lesson here...see if you can find it...at first you were too practical, then you hit close to the target, then you went too mystical....come back to the center...Be Hakuin in that moment...whats right here, right now. Perhaps I've said too much, or not enough 😋😋😋 Ok here is what I picked up from this story since I really don't understand the question I will answer it this way when the master says is that so he was showing Equanimity as he did not allow this to interfere with his inner life and he also show acceptance with whatever life throws at you also he did not judge them for what they did to him A couple things here...More Koans 😎😎😎 1. What does the sage allow, and what does the sage forbid? 2. Where does the inner end, and the outer begin?
