(Seth Early Sessions, Vol 6, Session 259) When you are considering dream reality, it is easier for you to understand that you construct the reality therein. You find it more difficult to understand the same thing about physical reality.
As a result however, you are somewhat less apt to accept dream reality as actual, and I must tell you that it is, particularly since you are considering experiments along these lines. You are in control as long as you realize that you are in control.
Now. There are indeed portions of dream reality that you yourself may not have constructed, but that are constructed by others. You recall that in physical reality you can only perceive your own constructions, as a rule. Now, my dear friends, this does not apply to dream reality.
This is indeed an important point.
Form of any kind, and there is form within dream reality, form is first of all a potential form, existing within psychic energy. The potential form therefore exists long before it’s physical materialization, as far as your physical perceptions are concerned.
Physically therefore the house that you will live in within five years may not exist, in your terms, now. It may not have been built yet, therefore physically you do not perceive it. Such a house however does have form, and does exist within the spacious present.
Now. In certain levels of dream reality forms that you do not as yet perceive as physical, do exist. They can be seen and perceived. In certain dreams you do perceive them. Within dream reality you can come in contact with many other kinds of reality with which you do not ordinarily have to deal.

(Seth Early Sessions, Vol 7, Session 308) A disciplined but intuitive ego then becomes a necessity in order that such new experience may be brought under useful control, in your terms. The ego becomes more necessary you see, not less, for it must learn to synthesize the gained experience in recognizable terms within your system. Otherwise if the ego is pushed aside it will rise up in arms and in opposition, and can be highly dangerous.
It goes without saying that in our methods the ego is changed rather completely but gradually in many cases, and only through its own willingness to do so. It recognizes its identity as a part of the inner self. Therefore basically it has no need to fight the inner self, since it knows its survival is dependent upon this inner framework.
The ego to some large extent, you see, has extended its functions and performance. Since our sessions began, for example, it has expanded in both of your cases. It has expanded not because it has grown more egotistic but because it has accepted as a part of itself, intuitional realizations and inner psychic responsibilities in a way that it did not consider before.
Psychic Illumination
In other words, portions of the inner self have joined the strictly egotistical functions. The ego in such cases is so attuned that it becomes almost something else. We are coming here toward a definition of illumination in psychic terms. The ego is not banished. It joins with portions of the inner self previously unconscious, and illuminates the whole personality. It is no longer primarily physically oriented. Therefore it is no longer an ego in the terms usually meant.
Again, this is an important point. The ego has accepted the goals of the inner self. Its identity has already changes, so that its main concern is no longer primarily with physical manipulation, but with inner growth and development.
This does not mean that it ignores its earlier functions. In true expansion of consciousness then, you become more and more aware, more conscious of inner realities that were previously never realized on a conscious level. Since the ego is presently your main vehicle of consciousness, it will not be obliterated. It will indeed be resurrected. It simply changes not only its form, but its inner core, accepting as a part of itself realities which it previously ignored out of fear, ignorance and insecurity.
It becomes more and more a portion of the supraconsciousness. Its new function is to help direct the overall personality so that inner abilities and illuminations can also reach physical reality.

(Seth, Session 626)
It often seems, when such ideas as these are presented, that the ideal results in your terms would be perfection — "heaven on earth" — a state in which everyone would be healthy, wealthy, and wise.
...
If all of your beliefs, not just your "fortunate" ones, were not materialized, you would never thoroughly understand on a physical level that your ideas create reality. If only your "positive" beliefs were materialized then you would never clearly comprehend the power of your thought, for you would not completely experience its physical results.

(a little long, but good ; from TECS2 ESP Class Session, July 21, 1970) "[... 1 paragraph ...] I am glad to see so many friends here this evening and as usual, I have a message for you and, as usual, I want you to do something. I want you to watch your own conscious thoughts. You let them escape you half the time. You do not realize what you are thinking. Now, you blame many of your difficulties upon subconscious reaction, and you think particularly in your weak moments that you have no control. You let the thoughts of your mind chatter on, but you are not aware of what you are thinking. You do not stop and check your own thoughts. You think, for example, I feel poorly, or this hurts, or you think this is a cruddy world I am in sometimes. [... 1 paragraph ...] You are hypnotizing yourself. You would not think of going to a hypnotist and having him tell you that you are getting sicker by the moment or the world was getting cruddier by the moment or that your arm or foot or head or toe or ear would hurt more and more with each breath that you took. You would have the man up to be hung and think such an affair an evil thing indeed, and yet you do this to yourselves often and then you say with all blind innocence, why does this come about, why am I sick or why am I sore or why am I caught in this cruddy universe and yet you do not change your own thought. You use suggestion in the same way that you read a paragraph from a book that you think you should read perhaps for five minutes, but then you allow your* (words lost)*to take over completely and it seems to you that you have no control. Now you are not using the control that you have. None of you are helpless to change events, to change your health or your reality at this moment. No one is responsible for your own conscious thought but yourself. Now, you may have built up poor habits of thought, but you can recognize this and change them. Every time you say, I am helpless, and I am slipping into chaos, whether you get laughs or not, or whether you say it humorously or not, you are indeed pushing yourself further into the chaos you are creating with every breath you take because you make no effort to change the nature of your thoughts and this is what you must do, exert your own control. As you all know, and this is not new, your pitiful body changes with each thought that you have and with each emotion. If you luxuriate in self-pity and feelings of chaos then you have yourselves to blame. There is no other place where you can lay the blame and it is up to you, to each of you individually, to watch the nature of your thoughts for with your thoughts you created the body that you have, the individual realities that you know. You create your little toe and your elbow and the pupil of your eye and your legs. When you allow your thoughts to run riot then your life runs riot. Now, there is no contradiction here with what I have said about spontaneity. When you have allowed negative habits, however, to take over, then somewhere you must draw the line for the negative habits knock away the discipline. The negative habits knock away even spontaneity for all thoughts of good will and health and vitality disappear beneath these thoughts that you are handing yourself every day like poison upon the spoon, whether the spoon be wooden or tarnished or silver. Now, this applies to everyone in the room to some extent or another, for there is no one that cannot stand improvement and this includes our friend Ruburt, but you do not understand yourselves or know yourselves. If you do not know your own thoughts, and if you cannot change them when you want to, you are not at the mercy of your thoughts. [... 2 paragraphs ...] The point I wanted to make is this—each thought is an electromagnetic reality on its own, a unique electromagnetic reality. Now, your thoughts create patterns in dimensions that you do not perceive. You become habitually able to think in certain patterns more than other patterns. Now, when you allow negative thoughts to predominate in your conscious mind you then become more open to the negative thoughts of others. You are given a natural protection but you weaken this protection when your conscious thoughts are negative. This not only happens in the waking state, but you also become more open in the dreaming state to telepathic communications from others of a negative pattern. It is you who open these channels through your thoughts, a sort of psychic contagion in which you are the agent. You not only attract negative conditions therefore in the physical world that you know, but you open yourselves up to these in the dream reality. Now, you can change this by changing the pattern of your thoughts. Not only do you attract like patterns when you are awake, but when you are asleep, so a vicious, vicious pattern is set up when you are negative. Your negative dreams, therefore, reinforce the waking pattern. Now, you will pick up with your physical senses precisely what you are interested in. If you are interested in disasters and looking for them, then telepathically you will also pick up disasters so that your dreams always seem negative and filled with foreboding. If, however, your conscious thought patterns are positive, then your dream patterns will also be the same. [... 3 paragraphs ...] ([Theodore:] “In the back of your mind you think a negative thought, then say, ‘Oops, this is wrong’ and try to change it. I don’t think it is so easy”). A negative thought alone would be followed by a more positive one. Remember what you were saying earlier about cycles. Thought patterns and emotional patterns, left alone, would change one into the other as stormy weather changes into sunny. It is only when strong negative patterns are allowed to flow unrestrained and indulged in so that they become a barrier holding back positive thoughts that you run into difficulty. You get into a habit and you do not realize that you have done so, where predominately your thoughts about yourselves and others are all negative with very few positive ones in between and then the positive ones have no chance to grow. This is where the difficulty comes in. I am not telling you to be so frightened of a negative thought that you want to run into a corner or hide under the bed or say “Oh, this is a negative thought, I must change it at once” and half-terrify yourselves to death. I am telling you that when you indulge in such thoughts for a period of time so that they become habitual then you must change them and no one can do this but yourself. There is no one else that has control over your own thought patterns and you would be very upset, indeed, if anyone else did. [... 1 paragraph ...] A problem need not be negative. A problem is a challenge. It is only negative when you look at it in that aspect. A problem is usually the opportunity for change, growth and development. Now, your chatter was much more bubbling than mine. I want to make sure the bubbling quality continues, however, and that is why I am speaking along these terms tonight. (To Sue:) Do you have a question, our lady on the blue couch with the brown pigtails? I will let you all take a break, but I want you to realize that these techniques are to be used. This is not theory to be listened to or read and forgotten. It is to be put into practice or it is of no use. Knowledge that is not applied to people is not knowledge. [... 3 paragraphs ...] When you have strong aggressive feelings admit them as being legitimate feelings and accept them as legitimate on their level. Do not deny them. Now, when you accept them and feel them, the very acceptance and acknowledgment gives you some relief and the feelings, to some extent, already begin to dissipate. And when you refuse to accept them, they build up and the longer you refuse to acknowledge them they continue to build up until they have an explosive charge. If normal aggressive feelings are accepted when they are felt they will not give you trouble, they will dissipate. Physical activity at the time is good. Say what is on your mind honestly. If this is done then you will not feel the need to over exaggerate as you express these feelings. Do you follow me? [... 1 paragraph ...] It need not be, but it may be. If someone annoys you, you should admit honestly that they annoy you. That is the first point. You need not tell the other person or you may, but if you refuse and ignore the feeling, the feeling builds up until someday the poor man makes a simple, innocent mood [sic], you will beat him over the head, or worse, develop a knock in your knee because you want to hit him over the head and do not dare to do so. [... 1 paragraph ...] There is a difference between this, you see, which is a healthy acknowledgment of feeling and an indulgence, exaggeration of feeling that dulls you to everything else. Do you see the distinction? Do not, therefore, be afraid of emotional feelings, accept them. They are healthy and spontaneous. It is only when you refuse to accept them that they build up charges so that if you have been in the habit of refusing to accept them there may be charges that have been built up. If so, in your first attempt to get along with the expression of emotion you may find some exaggeration. If so, physical activity is a good way to work this off, if only pounding the bed. Do not put your hand through walls, it is bad on the wall and bad on the hand. Even your astral knuckles may hurt." — TECS2 ESP Class Session, July 21, 1970

"The unknown reality, dash — Many of you, I know, would like to find in this book answers pertaining to Atlantis, the Bermuda Triangle, UFO’s, and many other such questions. Those matters certainly seem pertinent in the framework of your experience and beliefs. You already have a great variety of explanations offered: Writers in many fields have produced books about such topics. By far the greater questions, however, are those pertaining to the unknown reality of the psyche, and those that relate to the kind of being who perceives in one way or another an Atlantis, a Bermuda Triangle, a UFO — for in greater terms, until you ask deeper questions about yourselves, these other experiences will remain mysterious. You cannot understand perceived events unless you understand who perceives them. You must learn more about the slant of your own consciousness before you are in a position to ask truly pertinent questions about the reality that you perceive." —UR2 Section 6: Session 743 April 21, 1975

Seth: "Now this is not for our book. I would, and I might be able to, let elements from my own environment appear in the room, but if I did so you would only be able to sense them. about "newspapers" (half a century ago there was no internet)
"[... 9 paragraphs ...]
History is written according to the present beliefs of a historian in his time. As you know, your western world followed its own mixture of Christianity, Darwinism, and Freudian psychology. Because those ideas still are largely in the mainstream of your society, your television news, newspapers, and magazines are invisibly slanted. The news is invisibly organized to fit certain patterns, so that when you read or hear it, it carries the seemingly indelible mark, confirming the basic beliefs of the culture.
I am not speaking strictly of political parties or political newspapers, or of any specialized journals or magazines, but of the overall pattern displayed by all of your mass communications. You can see easily, however, the highly specialized, intensified view of the world that is apparent in scientific journals. These are in sharp conflict with, for example, religious journals. If you look you can easily become aware of these specialized worlds.
[... 2 paragraphs ...]
If you do not understand this, then you will take your newspapers and other news unthinkingly, thinking that a fairly adequate picture of world events is being portrayed—a picture that only deepens the negative feelings that are behind the invisible organization of such data. In such a way you miss any significant evidence to the contrary.
Privately, then, you will to some extent or another have to take up defenses against that reality. As long as you think that your physical information about the world, through newspapers and so forth, presents a fairly adequate, objective view of events, then all of the evidence to the contrary will literally be invisible, for you will continue to organize your view of the world in the old way. You will think, for example, when a story about misuse of political power is concerned “That’s only one story. How many more politicians do the same thing?”
For the newspapers also act in a suggestive fashion, further programming your expectations. In a way you organize your physical experience as you do your inner life, through association, through emotional association. I am not simple speaking of sensationalism in newspapers or on TV. When you read the news or hear it, however, because of cultural beliefs you are programmed to behave in a certain fashion, in a fashion that validates, seemingly, the concepts of Freud and Darwin, and the most unfortunate aspects of Christian pessimism.
[... 5 paragraphs ...]
People generally have been taught to play down their own heroism, and to concentrate upon man’s weaknesses, and so your newspapers contain categorized fact upon fact, emphasizing man’s errors and stupidities. It has become virtuous to keep track of these, as if concentrating upon errors will do anything but compound them.
[... 8 paragraphs ...]
To some extent, it is because you have accepted the newspapers’ view of reality as real, that you have allowed yourselves to dwell upon certain attitudes about your fellows—so that for example sometimes the world does not seem to deserve great art; or that you even feel you do not want to share your work with the stupid bastards (Seth said, staring at me. I laughed again).
[... 1 paragraph ...]
Collecting such distorted data about inner or outer worlds can only make an individual build up defenses, or want to. The newspaper world is, then, highly distorted, organized in such a manner that its data reinforce negative beliefs, and constantly give evidence only of negative patterns. These then are taken as an objective picture of the fact world.
All of the heroism, the private and even mass triumph, and the good intent, have been left out. The world is seen as a patient, sick in body, insane of mind, a thing that needs treatment, a Freudian and Darwinian monster. Even with your own changed beliefs, the two of you still see that mirror when you read a newspaper, and do not realize the invisible organizations behind the news. It makes it seem foolhardy to relax, doesn’t it? (Ironically, leaning forward for emphasis.)
[... 2 paragraphs ...]
Use relaxation techniques, as in hypnotic techniques, if you want. I have mentioned this before. Often I do not state the reasons for such suggestions. To some extent —underlined and qualified —you hypnotized yourselves into your view of reality. You helped Ruburt form his. You have not taken my suggestion before for a very simple reason: part of you, Joseph, was not ready to reassure Ruburt in such a fashion, for you were not certain that it was safe to relax in such a world, and you did not want to lie to Ruburt because you believed the newspaper world so thoroughly—with all, now, of its implications, as Ruburt did.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
*(11:01.) *The newspapers act as hypnotic suggestion of a potent kind. There is no one present who can confirm the newspaper’s evidence. You cannot ask questions of a newspaper, or of a news program. The entire pattern of these latest sessions deals with your inner reactions to your beliefs about yourselves and the world. Tonight I am dealing with a specific area. To some extent, however. These newspaper beliefs shut you off from full utilization from Framework 2’s potency.

False Beliefslink"[... 6 paragraphs ...]
Your conscious beliefs direct the functioning of your body. It is not the other way around.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
Its beliefs about the nature of reality are then given to inner portions of the self. These rely mainly upon the conscious mind’s interpretation of temporal reality. The conscious mind sets the goals and the inner self brings them about, using all its facilities and inexhaustible energy.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
To be human necessitates fine discrimination in the use of such consciousness. Many people are afraid of their own thoughts. They do not examine them. They accept the beliefs of others. Such actions distort data from both within and without.
There is no battle between the intuitive self and the conscious mind. There only seems to be when the individual refuses to face all the information that is available in his conscious mind. (Pause.) Sometimes it seems easier to avoid the frequent readjustments in behavior that self-examination requires. In such cases an individual collects many secondhand beliefs. Some contradict each other; the signals given to the body and to the inner self are not smoothly flowing or clear-cut, but a muddied jumble of counter-directions.
[... 2 paragraphs ...]
(9:50.) If you believe, moreover, that you must accept your difficulties, then this belief alone can deter you from solving them.
I repeat: Your ideas and beliefs form the structure of your experience. Your beliefs and the reasons for them can be found in your conscious mind. If you accept the idea that the reasons for your behavior are forever buried in the past of this life, or any other, then you will not be able to alter your experience until you change that belief. I am speaking now of more or less normal experience. Later we will discuss more particular areas, such as circumstances in which illnesses date from birth.
[... 3 paragraphs ...]
In a manner of speaking, the conscious mind is a window through which you look outward — and looking outward, perceive the fruits of your inner mind. Often you let false beliefs blur that great vision. Your joy, vitality and accomplishment do not come from the outside to you as the result of events that “happen to you.” They spring from inner events that are the result of your beliefs.
(10:06. Seth-Jane, deep in thought, paused.) Much has been written about the nature and importance of suggestion. One of the current ideas in vogue holds that you are constantly at the mercy of suggestion. Your own conscious beliefs are the most important suggestions that you receive. All other ideas are rejected or accepted according to whether or not you believe they are true, in line with the steady conscious chattering that goes on within your mind most of the day — the suggestions given to you by yourself.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
If you use your conscious mind properly, then, you examine those beliefs that come to you. You do not accept them willy-nilly. If you use your conscious mind properly, you are also aware of intuitive ideas that come to you from within. You are only half conscious when you do not examine the information that comes to you from without, and when you ignore the data that comes to you from within.
(10:13.) Many false beliefs therefore are indiscriminately accepted because you have not examined them. You have given the inner self a faulty picture of reality. Since it is the function of the conscious mind to assess physical experience, it [the inner self] hasn’t been able to do its job properly. If the inner portions of the self were supposed to have that responsibility, then you would not need a conscious mind.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
It will manage to work around the blind spots in the reasoning mind, for example. Often it will sift out from the barrage of conflicting beliefs the particular set that is the most life-giving, and send these forth in what then appears as a burst of revelation. Such revelations result in new patterns that change behavior.
You must be aware of the contents of your own reasoning mind. Find the ambiguities. Regardless of the nature of your beliefs they are indeed made flesh and material. The miracle of your being cannot escape itself. Your thoughts blossom into events. If you think the world is evil, you will meet with events that seem evil. There are no accidents in cosmic terms, or in terms of the world as you know it. Your beliefs grow as surely in time and space as flowers do. When you realize this you can even feel their growing.
[... 7 paragraphs ...]
Left alone, the self acts spontaneously as a unit, but as an ever-changing one. Listening to voices both within and without, the conscious mind is able to form beliefs that are in league with the self’s knowledge as received from material and nonmaterial sources. Then examination of beliefs takes its place along with other activities — naturally, easily, without effort. Once the conscious mind has accepted a collection of conflicting beliefs, however, a definite attempt is necessary to sort these out.
Remember, even false beliefs will seem to be justified in terms of physical data, since your experience in the outside world is the materialization of those beliefs. So you must work with the raw material of your ideas, even while your sense data may tell you that a given belief is obviously a truth. To change your experience or any portion of it, then, you must change your ideas. Since you have been forming your own reality all along, the results will follow naturally.
(Pause.) You must be convinced that you can alter your beliefs. You must be willing to try. Think of a limiting idea as a muddy color and your life as a multidimensional painting that is marred. You change the idea as an artist would his palette.
[... 2 paragraphs ...]
(11:10.) Many beliefs would automatically fall away quite harmlessly if you were being truly spontaneous. Instead you often harbor them.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
No apple tree tries to grow violets. Quite automatically it knows what it is, and the framework of its own identity and existence. (Pause.) You have a conscious mind, but this is only the “topmost” portion of your mind. Much more of “it” is available to you. Much more of your knowledge can be conscious, therefore; but a false belief, a limiting one, is as ambiguous to your nature as any apple tree’s idea that it was a violet plant.
It could not produce violets, nor could it be a good apple tree while it tried to. The mistaken belief is one that does not fit the basic conditions of your inner being. So if you believe that you are at the mercy of physical events, you entertain a false belief. If you feel that your present experience was set in circumstances beyond your control, you entertain a false belief.
[... 3 paragraphs ...]
The inner self is embarked upon an exciting endeavor, in which it learns how to translate its reality into physical terms. The conscious mind is brilliantly attuned to physical reality, then, and often so dazzled by what it perceives that it is tempted to think physical phenomena is a cause, rather than a result. Deeper portions of the self always serve to remind it that this is not the case. When the conscious mind accepts too many false beliefs, particularly if it sees that inner self as a danger, then it closes out these constant reminders. When this situation arises the conscious mind feels itself assailed by a reality that seems greater than itself, over which it has no control. The deep feeling of security in which it should be anchored is lost.
The false beliefs must be weeded out so that the conscious mind can become aware of its source once again, and open to the inner channels of splendor and power available to it.
[... 1 paragraph ...]
The ego is your idea of your physical image in relation to the world. Your self image is not unconscious, then. You are quite aware of it, though often you reject certain thoughts about it in favor of others. False beliefs can result in a rigid ego that insists upon using the conscious mind in one direction only, further distorting its perceptions.

from: 'The "Unknown" Reality', vol 2Words in a language function not only by defining what a specific object is, for example, but also by defining what it is not.
To some extent in the dream state, you are freed of such cultural leanings. In the most effective of dreams experience is actually more direct, in that it is less limited by language concepts. Waking, you generally become familiar with your thoughts through words that are mental, automatically translating your thoughts into language. Your thoughts therefore fall, or flow, into prefabricated forms. In the dream state, however, thoughts are often experienced directly: ‘You live” them out. You become what they are. They are projected instantly and in such a fashion. They escape the limitations that you often place upon them. That is why it is frequently difficult to remember your dreams in a verbal fashion, or squeeze them back into the expression of usual language. Your language often purposely inhibits meaning.
To some extent language does make the unknown known and recognizable. It sets up signposts that each person in a culture recognizes. To do this, however, it latches upon certain significances and ignores others. You might know the word for “rock” for instance. Knowing the word might actually prevent you from seeing any specific rock clearly as it is, or recognizing how it is different from all other rocks.
The play of sunlight or shadow upon any given rock may utterly escape you. You will simply pass it by under the category of “rock.” In the dream state you might find yourself sleeping on a sun warmed rock, or climbing on icy ones. You might feel yourself encased in a rock, with your consciousness dispersed. You might have any number of different experiences involving rocks, all quite liberating. After such an experience you might look at rocks in an entirely different fashion, and see them in ways that escape your language. Rocks give forth sounds that you do not hear, for example, yet your language automatically limits your perception of what any rock is. To some extent words come between you and your direct expression. They should and can express that experience instead.

Generally speaking (underlined), most of you live in your own world, with others of your kind. Those of you who do not believe in war have not experienced it. It may have surrounded you, but you did not experience it. Those of you who do not believe in greed have not suffered its “consequences.” If you still see it, it is because it is a part of your reality. If you are honestly not greedy, yet you see greed, then perhaps you are serving as an example to others — but you form your own reality.
There are more worlds than you suppose, and in your own private experience each of you contributes to the world that you know. You and your counterparts together form it. Your physical body alone is equipped to perceive far more than you presently allow it to. Physically you are a part of every other person upon the earth, and you have a connection with each leaf and frog and nail.
You choose the city or state or country in which you live. No one forces you to stay there unless you are looking for an excuse to remain. So you choose your psychic land as well. You can travel from one psychic land to another as you can journey into other parts of the physical world.

from ESP class on February 16, 1971:
“Now I am going to say good evening shortly, but remember — you call this your universe and your reality, and it is indeed, for you form it. Within you also is the knowledge of other great experiments that are being tried, just as other probable systems are aware of the experiments you are involved with. I am speaking in your terms only, which means that to some extent I am hedging — but other civilizations have gone your route. Some have failed, but the inhabitants of some earths have succeeded very well.
“As you think of it, your future is not set. You can follow any road you choose, but — until you realize that as individuals you each form your own personal life, and have a part in the mass creation of reality — there is much learning ahead for you. This is a lesson you are meant to fully understand within physical reality.
“You are meant to judge physical reality. You are meant to realize that it is a materialization of your thoughts and feelings and images, that the inner self forms that world. In your terms, you cannot be allowed to go into other dimensions until you have learned the great power of your thoughts and subjective feelings. So even when you think you destroy, you destroy nothing. And when you think you kill, you kill nothing. When you imagine that you can annihilate a reality, you can only assault it as you know it. The reality itself will continue to exist.
“Because you cannot follow a thought, you wonder where it has gone; has it fallen off some invisible cliff in your mind? But because you can no longer hold that thought in consciousness does not mean it no longer exists, that it does not have a reality of its own, for it does indeed. And if a world escapes you — if you cannot follow it and think it has been destroyed — then the same thing applies to the world as to the thought. It continues to live.”

from ' "Unknown" Reality', vol 2, Session 742:
The whole idea of probable realities seems strange or esoteric only because you are not used to following your own thought processes.
You shut them off any time they do not conform to current beliefs about the nature of the self, or about reality in general. The deepest meanings of probabilities lie, however, precisely in their psychological import.
You have become so hypnotized by a one-level kind of thought that anything else seems impractical. You concentrate upon those decisions that you make, and disregard the processes involved. This has been carried to an extreme, you see: Often you are so disconnected from those inner workings that your own decisions then appear to come from someplace else. You may be convinced that events happen to you, and are beyond your control, simply because you are so out of touch with yourself that you never catch the moments of your own decisions.
Then you feel as if you are the pawns of fate, and the idea of probable actions seems like the sheerest nonsense. Each event seems inevitable. If this attitude is carried to excessive lengths, then it even appears that you have no hand at all in the making of your own reality. You will always feel yourself a victim.
The unknown reality is your psychic, spiritual, and psychological one, and from it your physical experience springs.
That inner, all-pervasive existence becomes known to the extent that you grow more responsive to your own inner environment. This does not mean that you become entirely self-centered, blind to the rest of the world. It does not mean that you must meditate for hours, or study your own thought processes with such vigor that you ignore other activities. It simply means that you are aware of your own life as clearly as possible — in touch with your thought processes, aware of them but without overdue concern or overanalysis. They are as much a part of your inner environment as trees are of your exterior world. There are different species of selves in the same fashion. There are different species of worlds.
When you identify with only one particular level of your thought processes, however, the others — when you sense them — appear alien. You begin to feel threatened, determined to uphold your old ideas of selfhood. Plants grow many leaves. One leaf does not threaten the existence of others, and the plant is not jealous of its own foliage. So there is no need to protect your own individuality because it may send out other shoots into probable realities. This is simply the self growing in different directions, spreading its seeds.

from Session 28, Feb 24, 1964:
In a dream, and this is new material, I have said that you can experience many days while no corresponding amount of physical time passes. In other words, it seems as if you travel very far in the flicker of an eyelash.
Condensed time is the time felt by the entity, or experienced by the entity, while any of its given personalities “live” (and you had better put that in quotes) on a plane of physical materializations. To go into this a bit further, many men have said that life was a dream. They were true to the facts in one strong regard, and yet far afield as far as the main issue is concerned.
Individual life, or the life of the present individual, could be legitimately compared to the dream of an entity. While the individual suffers and enjoys his given number of years, these years are but a flash to the entity. The entity is concerned with these years in the same manner that you are concerned with your dreams. As you give inner purpose and organization to your dreams, and as you obtain insight and satisfaction from your dreams though they involve only a part of your life, so the entity to some extent directs and gives purpose and organization to his personalities during their existence. And so does the entity obtain insights and satisfactions from his existing personalities, although no one takes up all of his own attentions.
And as your dreams originate with you, rise from you, attain a seeming independence and have their ending with you, so do an entity’s personalities arise from him, attain various degrees of independence, and return to him while never leaving him for an instant.
The planes represent the various levels upon which the personalities operate.
... Nevertheless, that dream world experiences continuity. It is not aware of any break while, for example, you are sleeping. It does not know you sleep or wake. It merely exists to a fairly vivid degree while you sleep, and it sleeps but does not die while you are awake.
This is very important, however.

from Session 28, Feb 24, 1964:
The part that translates inner data sifts it down through the subconscious, which is a barrier and also a threshold to the present personality as it operates on the camouflage plane. I have mentioned many times how vitality changes as it approaches and forms various planes. I have said that the topmost part of the subconscious contains personal memories.
That beneath these are racial memories and so forth. Things are simply not layered in the way I speak of them. But continuing with the necessary analogy, on the other side of (or beneath to you) the racial memories, you no longer exist within your plane, and look out upon another with the face of this other self-conscious part of you. This part receives inner data, is in contact with the entity, to some greater degree than you are in contact with your dreams, and actually directs all the important functions that you think are either automatically controlled, or unconsciously controlled.
When such abilities as telepathy occur, this telepathic function is carried on continually by this other self-conscious part of you, but as a rule you act upon such data without the knowledge of the conscious self with which you are familiar. I wanted to at least get into this material this evening, because while it may sound complex to you now, it is really basic. And it is knowledge that you must have before we can go further.
There is also a corresponding, but lesser, self-consciousness that connects your present personalities with the dream world, which is aware of its origin and communicates data from you to it. Again you are no more aware of your dream creations, and no less aware than your entity is of you, but in the last analysis you are aware and connected with your entity through this self-conscious part of you that faces another plane.
There is of course an apparent contradiction here, but it is only apparent. It is certainly to you contradictory, your dilemma being this: if you have another self-conscious self, then why aren’t you aware of it?
Pretend that you are some weird creature with two faces. One face looks out upon one world and one looks out upon another. Imagine, further, this poor creature having a brain to go with each face, and each brain interprets reality in terms of the world it looks upon. Yet the worlds are different, and more, the creatures are Siamese twins.
At the same time imagine that these creatures are really one creature, but with definite parts equipped to handle two entirely different worlds. The subconscious therefore, in this truly ludicrous analogy, would exist between the two brains, and would enable the creature to operate as a single unity. At the same time, and this is the difficult part to explain, neither of the two faces would ever see the other world. They would not be aware of each other. And yet each would be fully self-conscious.

from "The Nature of Psyche", Session 771:
In some historical periods it was desirable in practical terms that a man have many wives, so that if he died in battle his seed might be planted in many wombs — particularly in times when diseases struck men and women down often in young adulthood.
When physical conditions are adverse, such social traditions have often emerged. In times of overpopulation, so-called homosexual and lesbian tendencies come to the surface — but also there is the tendency to express love in other than physical ways, and the emergence of large social issues and challenges into which men and women can throw their energies. There are "lost" portions of the Bible having to do with sexuality, and with Christ's beliefs concerning it, that were considered blasphemous and did not come down to you through history.
