Hi
I live in London and started my spiritual journey about a year ago. There had been dribs and drabs of it before then. I am interested in people like Barry Long. I'm interested in finding my own truth and not looking to follow anyone. I'm open to new experiences and always happy to listen. I've also just started meditating.
Thanks
Sarah

Welcome Sarah: You've come to a good site for what you're interested in. Everything you want to know is inside yourself. Watch the thoughts that appear in "your" mind and ask yourself who, or what, is seeing those thoughts? Something is aware of both an "outside world" of trees, computers, and people and also an "inside world" of ideas, images and symbols. It isn't Sarah because "Sarah" is just a set of often-repeated ideas. So, what's going on? Who, or what, is pumping "your" blood, transmitting nerve impulses through "your" body, growing hair and teeth and fingernails, seeing, hearing, feeling, and thinking? What do "you" have to do with all of that? And if it isn't you, then what is it? This is a fabulous game of hide and seek. Have fun and feel free to write about your experiences or ask questions. There are lots of interesting and knowledgeable people who post on this board, and they will offer whatever help or advice they can. Cheers.

Hi Sarah, welcome to the board.
What are you reading / looking into at the moment?
What sort of meditation are you practicing?
Cheers, Peter

Hi Everyone My name is Louise and I went to many of Vernon Howard's meetings until his passing. I am happy to meet some of his followers. I hope some have found this place, I would like to say hi to some of them. Nice to have found this place. Louise

Hi Louise. Welcome to the site. I've heard of Vernon Howard, but don't know much about his teaching. Can you tell us about your experiences with him and what his style of teaching was like?

Hi Zendancer
I was hoping to find some of the old posters from Vernon Howard's classes, but, I guess I was wrong.
Jt was of no special religious teachings, he merely spoke of the human personality of the human race. He was very outspoken, I liked that about him. Most of the people there had some problem and it was a good place to observe oneself and when something was said that a person identified with it was looked honestly and the people grew from taking it to heart. I was involved in a meditation at the time so mixing with others was a good experience as I tend to isolate myself and needed to communicate with others, learning more about myself and others.
Thank you for replying
Louise

Not sure if I am replying properly to your post, but, I would like to ask if you have discovered what is pumping your blood , as you put it as you stated to Sarah?

Louise: The way to reply simply is to hit the "quote" button at the upper right hand corner of the post you want to respond to. Then you will see the reply typed in automatically below in the white box, surrounded by html text language telling it to go into quote format. Just move all that down with the enter key and post your response above all of that. It should make your life a bit easier.
Does that make sense?

Louise Louise, Yes, I found out who was pumping my blood, and it wasn't who I thought it was. I found out at 10:15 on the morning of March 5, 1984, and it was the biggest surprise of my entire life. Good morning ZD.
If we don't exist how can it be a 'who'? Can you be more explicit? Thank you.

Louise, I really like your question. I am not equipped for contributing a valid answer although I suspect we're dealing here with semantic inaccuracies, language being a very blunt tool for representing what we're trying to communicate about. Still, I look forward to which reply is coming...
