Why do you say I'm not a neophyte? I don't know. I'm just filling in the blanks, reading between the lines .. which is dangerous of course, but also a bit of fun! But I think you're sly as a fox .. and your longevity on the forum is bound to say something .. and it doesn't seem like you come here to crusade against anything... except for being unenlightened of course

In fact you would be shocked about how much truth I say here about myself. I'm anonymous here, so no reason to lie. In fact, now that I think about it, I don't think I lie here at all. When I do lie then it's some really outrageous lie that isn't even meant to be believed by anyone, like when I ran the "I have the longest ding-dong" joke. Actually I think I should be offended that you think I am sly as a fox, because that means that you think my personality is so pathological that it can't possibly be real.

Right! He just thought he found a sneaky way to get the answers he wants to pry out of us. It sounds innocent enough -- but yeah, there's that agenda of his. Of course that was my agenda, I even said so in this thread. I'm just astonished that it seems impossible to get any clear language out of enlightened folks. It's just not possible. It's like... I seriously have no idea what's wrong with them. Anyhow, I give up on this thread. I just profoundly and honestly don't understand how you guys can be like that. Just doesn't make sense to me, this huge disconnect between what you claim and what you actually say and do. Like, when I know something then I'll explain it so that everyone understands. And when I don't know then I'll just admit it. It#s that simple. But you guys are different, I don't understand why you are like that. I think you start these discussions just so that you can end them this way. We're all pretty foolish for getting sucked in every time.

I don't see how you could be enlightened and not know it. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't you one of the ones seeking it? As I said to BB, it's a mystical, mysterious type of thing, and we can't argue - really - with anyone who says they are or they aren't because it's all up to the individual to define it. No, really, it's not...so much....really.

I started this thread in an attempt to force some honesty and clarity into this whole enlightenment thing. Unfortunately I didn't realize how much you guys abhor honesty and clarity.

You are already enlightened, but you can never conceptually know what enlightenment is because when you think of it you create a gap between yourself and enlightenment. --Dainin Katagiri
Awakening doesn’t mean that you awaken. It means that there is only awakening. There is no you who is awake, there is only awakeness. --Adyashanti
There is an eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death. Many people use the word God to describe it; I often call it Being....To regain awareness of Being and to abide in that state of 'feeling-realization' is enlightenment. --Eckhart Tolle

And neither is the girl. Her question is "how to get enlightened" and none of them have answered her. Btw, I trust none of those famous gurus, they're in it for the money, whoever trusts them must be a fool. Unfortunately neither can one trust most people who post on forums like this one, because if you look closely you'll notice that most of them are in it for the ego, which is just as bad. A very sad state of affairs. Ask yourself, why is there so much ego on this forum, so many insults? These days I can't say anything without being insulted. I have started this thread and all I got was insults, and nobody is willing to engage with one simple question in an honest and clear manner... why is that?

Just to bring my answer over to this thread, to my beloved child (if I had one), I would say that there is simply no way that a cookie can EVER actually crumble 'wrongly' or 'imperfectly'.
Hopefully s/he would take away the realization that EVERYTHING that happens is ultimately ok, because it ALL fits perfectly into this single proverbial 'cookie crumbling' that is happening, the ONLY way that it possibly can. In truth, Reality can NEVER 'go wrong'. To me, that realization IS awakening.

So really there is no way she could understand your cookie story. She would also not understand how any of what you've written relates to her question "how to get enlightened?"

I don't actually know how long you've been on this quest for finding out how to become enlightened, BB, but is it so horrible to draw the conclusion that it really is neither here nor there if it exists, and that life goes on, and don't sweat it?

I have started this thread and all I got was insults, and nobody is willing to engage with one simple question in an honest and clear manner... why is that? I originally answered your question by saying I would like my autistic daughter to just sit quietly and listen to the sounds being heard for awhile.... which is really nothing more than placing our attention on the different sounds in her immediate environment. You had mentioned in the scenario that she described- 'I'm autistic and my IQ is below 85. One of my many problems is that I can't understand words except in a literal way. The other is that I'm a little slow sometimes, others say that I'm just a little unlucky when I try to think. And my attention span is really short, after three sentences I've already forgotten what the first sentence was.' So I would meet her where she is, and help her to broaden her perspective with sound. Focus her attention in a different way, through sounds. Oh, and before she went to bed that night, I would have asked her to write the question, "Who am I?, on a piece of paper, and read it before she went to bed. In a way, it's like putting the universe on notice that a question wants to be answered. In the scenario, she is rather simple to begin with. The question may get answered... Interestingly enough, I was reflecting on a conversation we once had in the original response. In it, you pointed out the 'simple state' we are immersed in when we first wake up. Before the first thought arises...

I haven't the faintest idea how your "advice" can actually be applied to real life. I feel that when it comes to enlightenment, prescription very rarely (if ever) works. I find description to be far more effective. Hence the approach of my response. I'm trying to illustrate the reason why Reality doesn't actually need to be feared. EVER.
