if we define or interpret deep sleep as the absence of consciousness base on our unconcious deep sleep experience then by virtue of circular reasoning it is so.
if we correlate the presence of consciousness with brain activity then in deep sleep there is consciousness because even in deep sleep there is also brain activity.
so what and how is it to know consciously?

if one has samadhi so what?
we only cherished our spiritual experiences and achievement because we have invested so much in them.
in deep sleep there is no self consciousness while in samadhi there is a waking state thst is not necessarily self conscious

Brainwave Patterns and States of Awareness Awake……………….Conscious Mind………….Beta Yoga Nidra…………..Superconscious Mind……Alpha Dreaming Sleep……..Subconscious Mind……..Theta Deep Sleep………….Unconscious Mind……….Delta 'Gamma' is also an interesting one. It is associated with increased brain activity and yet is associated with unity consciousness and compassion. Apparently advanced 'Tibetan meditators' are strong on Gamma.

thank you Andrew, you have a kind heart an are very helpful. If the buddists want themselves to be the worlds #1 top-class-spiritual-club of searchers an re-searchers seeking the mysteries in life, they will want to utilise what ever Western Science can unearth(invent) about how their own brains function. They do want their club to lead the current world religions don't they? By 'attuning-themselves' with Sciences latest-brain mirroring-inventions, they are telling me they haven't yet realised that surrendering their mind gives compassion the quickest means of expression. (selflessness is always the quickest to respond to the plight of life under stress) will look at your other link, some other time. again, thank you for your effort.

Personally I think its a good thing that science is exploring what's happening in the brain in those that demonstrate compassion and experience unity consciousness. There are a lot of people out there diagnosed with things that ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorders, depression etc that take medication when actually the technology is there these days to mess around with our brain waves in such way so as to make the medication redundant. Neurofeedback is an example, but even consistent listening to binaural beats has made a big difference in a lot of people's lives. Some people just aren't spiritually inclined and don't have the inclination or even ability to meditate. I think that these kinds of explorations are potentially very valuable for these kinds of people.

If one practices an enhances the quality of their awareness, one can awaken before the mind remembers the constraints which it imposes on the librarian, the brain manager or what ever you want to call that voice in your head, that thinks its right, but not left.

What you are can be described as 'consciousness' manifested as a physical happening.. similar to the way ice forms in water.. consciousness doesn't move around inside of you, it 'is' you.. Consciousness is always present, its contents always available.. in deep sleep or when anesthetized it is 'awareness' that is suspended, so that no information is not being input into consciousness, but.. when you wake-up, all that was there in consciousness prior to the suspension of awareness is still present.. Be well..

Be well.. you is like ice forming in water an then you vaporise, (go to sleep?) an then condense an become like water again that freezes itself? Like two molecules of Hydrogen an one molecule of oxygen? You are the water that makes up most of my body, (90%?) that I inhabited after birthing?
