Oh great, another dĂckhead. Just what this forum was lacking... The first thing to understand is that there is no fundamental division between intellectual understanding and whatever non-intellectual understanding you think there is. If you think you understand something, in whatever way, or that something makes sense, then you can be certain that it's from mind. and just aa i thought , you carry your name as a taunt. intellectual understanding. - the apple is sweet and juicy not intellectual understanding- take a bite. Welcome, Hybrid. I'm assuming you are the same hybrid from SF. The ST forum is turning into the refugee forum for peeps exiled from SF. Were you banned to? And I see you're making friends with the local curmudgeon. Whatever you do, don't call him a student of Zendancer's, that sets him off. Oh and don't accuse him of being stuck in his intellect, that sets him off too.

it is a profound understanding because the experience is life changing. as in contrast to mere intellectual understanding. Haha....there seems to be this concern over the selection of words like God Union etc....
At moments like these, a line from a WuTang Clan song pops into Mind: "Only the Dumb are Intrigued By The Drum"
To put that into context, its a Hip Hop song with a VERY strong drum beat that the rapper is giving a philosophical discourse over top of lol
The point is, change those words however it makes you comfortable...but don't miss the essence because of the drumbeat ;-)
I could have just as easily outlined the process of practice in Quantum Physics ontology, philosphy ontology, Zen onology, heck, with a bit of creativity, even baseball ontology lol
Choose your own "terms" or ontology, I went with God Union because it was the terms used by Ramana and Niz whose quotes were being discussed in the thread that the post origamally appeared in ;-)

Quantum scientists recently discovered a new area of time and space called the Quantum vacuum. There are newly discovered properties of time and space happening all the time but it seems clear now that this vacuum is a super dense cosmic frictionless medium that carries light and all the universal forces of nature. A well known scientist and philosopher named Ervin Laszlo, in his recently published book, Science and the Akashic Field shows that it may not only be a super dense sea of frictionless energy but also a sea of information conveying the historical experience of matter. These newest discoveries in the field of quantum physics now show that the Akashic Field may indeed be real and have its equivalent in the zero-point field that underlies space itself. Ervin Laszlo stated in his recent book that the quantum vacuum essentially, "generates the holographic field that is the memory of the universe."
This Quantum Field consists of a subtle sea of fluctuating energies from which all things arise: atoms and galaxies, stars and planets, living beings, and even consciousness. This zero-point Akashic -field-or "A-Field" as Laszlo calls it, is not only the original source of all things that arise in time and space; it is also the constant and enduring memory of the universe. The "A-Field" holds the record of all that has ever happened in life, on Earth, and in the cosmos and relates it to all that has yet to happen. It is essentially what helps a universe know how to become a universe, how plants know how to be plants and so forth. It literally conveys all the information of life itself. "or you could go with: Quantum Vacuum Zero Point Energy
"Vacuum energy is the zero-point energy of all the fields in space, which in the Standard Model includes the electromagnetic field, other gauge fields, fermionic fields, and the Higgs field. It is the energy of the vacuum, which in quantum field theory is defined not as empty space but as the ground state of the fields. In cosmology, the vacuum energy is one possible explanation for the cosmological constant.[3] A related term is zero-point field, which is the lowest energy state of a particular field" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-point_energy

*goes into Samadhi after reading that* Samadhi is very alert, that guy is not lol You said samadhi was what was left in the absence of content in the experience, so dreamless sleep qualifies as samadhi. Unless you would like to retract your definition and admit samadhi is just a relative mind state?

Unless you would like to retract your definition and admit samadhi is just a relative mind state? Samadhi is not a mind state, and I have said that relative Samadhi is absent a referential self. Samadhi is not the same as deep sleep, deep sleep has no consciousness to it.
