Try to understand this. To be self realized is to be a jivanmukta which means freedom or liberation while living in a body. There isn't a little town somewhere called Absoluteville where you go and play at being empty. Of course maya is part of the absolute. If the absolute is inclusive of everything then it also includes the relative. The world does not disappear for the realized. You are making the mistake that many non dualists make which is to confuse non attachment with non involvement. They are not the same thing. Remember what Shankara said. Brahman (consciousness) alone is real The world is an illusion Brahman is the world. Maya is not a problem. It has two aspects. Maya is the projecting power of Brahman and the veling power of Brahman. Vedanta does not reject the world. It is the veiling power which we must overcome so that we may know Brahman which is another way of saying I am unbounded awareness. To know that is to know the absolute and the relative. Shiva and shakti. Both together seemingly separate but really only one thing without separation, the living reality as diversity within unity and unity within diversity. That is realization. You are sat chit ananda as both manifest and unmanifest in the ever present eternal moment. Stop weaving ideas about it, just wake up to it. Besides... if you are real, Satch, and got it on a DNA level.. you will try to use your own language and will stop borrowing from Eastern scriptures. Why? Because it has been your own experience, right? You 'got' it, correct? So why not try to convey it in the laguage which is more natural and accessible, BECAUSE ti comes from YOU and whatever direct experience you had? Try this. You will find that all masters tend to use the language of their master and what influenced them. I am aware that on this forum Ramana and Nisargadatta are quoted a lot. I guess my guru was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

What to do? There is nothing to do because there is no doer. BTW, Ramana didn't actually die. He was inexplicably overcome with the fear of death and that caused him to make the only and ultimate inquiry which resulted in release. Turning back to find out what death meant when he was still conscious was the moment of realization. "There is nothing to do because there is no doer." - yet.. humans do. This expression only applies on a human level of existence. There is nothing left to do, because whatever you do - will be taken away from you at Death. So.. just live. Be. In that - you will end up doing something, whatever appeals to your Self. To 'die' so that one can become alive'.. is a metaphor, Satch. Ramana wasn't 'released. He was a grumpy old sod by the end of it all, and his employees got the brunt of it often enough. He was impatient. Again.. this was his core Self. Grumpy? By all accounts Ramana was the sweetest. What I mean by there is no doer, is not only that there is nothing left to do because it is the end of seeking, but that even when I appear to do, to make a choice, the spontaneity of the act is such that there is no attachment whatsoever to a sense of someone doing anything. This witnessing can also be experienced by even novice meditators from time to time.

Okay that's making more sense except that there is only one Self in existence. There is no my Self or your Self. Not quite. We humans are made of essentially the same building blocks, but how it translates - is different. That makes it 'your' Self and 'my' Self. Are you making a distinction between Self (Atman) and self?

I guess my guru was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Well.. I took whatever and from wherever I could as I went along. But ultimately, all was my own doing. I owned every insight, every opening, no matter how big or small. Jed was just the last nail in the coffin. Something happened when you were 8 but the final nail was Jed. For Ramana it was final at 16.

At 16 a human mind is entering adulthood and is able to think rationally (as in - try to understand what it was that took place). At 8 - one knows something had irrevocably changed, but does not know what. It coloured my life perception greatly thereafter, whereby many things lost their importance. But I couldn't evaluate, see what exactly it was, except knowing with absolute clarity that I would die, and what will be after that. Jed brought it home, what had been brewing for many years. For that - I will always be grateful to him. However.... there is no enlightenment There is no person who has ever become enlightened.

There is no person who has ever become enlightened. That is correct. I think you're okay tano. You're real. I'll drop round for that stir fry sometime.

I left an email address somewhere on Jed's thread, in case I get banned for my unsubstantiated accusations of you. I will not pry. Your life is your own. That is why.. believe it or not.. I love all humans and I despise all humans equally. Paradox Oh don't worry. I would never have agreed to a banning if push came to shove.

Plus you're well aware that the archives reveal that Tano isn't the first to accuse someone of being a nonce in here.

Paradox incudes the lie. I try not to be, or rather, what I am finds it difficult to pretend. However... one cannot be completely free from being a lie, as long as one is alive. Weird huh??..... It takes too much energy to maintain the character, for me anyway. So much easier to just be as is, as Mother Nature made me. This me that is being drained of energy by maintaining a character, is that the lover or the despiser?
