Greetings.. Just to kick it off, one of the nuggets that I hang onto is in the Christian Gospel-- If this isn't about 'letting go of attachment' (in this case, to clothing), nothing is. It's not. Nature cares for itself effortlessly because it is not in opposition to anything. To live entirely within the flow of nature, to honor it, respect it, and move as it does, is to live effortlessly. Some Native American and other tribal cultures have at least come close to this ideal, but this in not generally the way of mankind, and so he toils and struggles. Nature moves in self supporting circles while mankind moves in straight lines. Nature is not trying to get somewhere, while man is always chasing a self serving goal. Man is as much a part of nature as the 'grasses of the field' but he imagines himself to be sovereign and superior, dominant and self directed. What must be abandoned if man is to take his place in the circle of life is his arrogance and separateness. Nature moves as God moves, as one, and does not recognize the human delusion of separateness and independent will, and thus withdraws it's support. There is only the will of God, only the spontaneous movement of nature, of creation, always as one. Most of all it must be understood that life does not fear death. Death, serves life.Editing a little bit of your personal belief and broad generalizations out, makes it less like a religious sermon, but.. 'some' people imagine themselves as "sovereign and superior, dominant", precisely because of the words of the 'God' they believe in, is that the same God you reference in that quote? You seem so comfortable passing generalized judgement on so many people, so naturally able to overlook 'people', in favor of beliefs.. Be well..

[...] I'm hoping someone will start a new thread though.... "Ask, and ye shall receive ... " Was talking with a long-time friend a couple of weeks ago, and we were relating how we both seek out hang onto the "gold nuggets" of various worldviews. Regardless of race, creed, color, religion, or sexual orientation, people over the millennia have said and done some pretty profound stuff, which can lead to the proverbial light bulb alighting over most people's heads. This immensely wide array of quotes, rituals, and truisms lead us to Truth, 'what is', 'realization', 'letting go'. Around here, we often refer to Ramana or Niz or any of a number of advaitist or neo-advist authors. Let this be the thread for any quotes or discussion about whatever you consider to be a "gold nugget" of truth--anything that helped you 'see the light'. I look forward to reading what y'all have come across. Hi Beingist, Here's one. "A pilgrim traveled to the Temple and stood before Shiva. The warden came and said "It is our tradition that we do not point our feet towards Shiva". The pilgrim replied "Certainly Sir if you will point to where Shiva is not". amit

Yeah, E's response doesn't look much like a nugget, to me, either.

Interesting that you see your beliefs as 'pearls', and those that disagree as 'swine'.. but, that's your consistent perspective, the superiority of believing you have all of the answers.. Be well..

Sounds sort of like our sweat lodge. Be careful what you pray for. You will get it, but know that spirits do not think like we do.

Be well.. You think Tzu understands the meaning of the swine/perls quote? I have my doubts given his already VERY unique interpretation of the golden rule...
