That he ever said that or anything like it is a controversy.

That he ever said that or anything like it is a controversy. If someone else made it up, I'd want to take credit for it - it's a good one, anyway.

That he ever said that or anything like it is a controversy. If someone else made it up, I'd want to take credit for it - it's a good one, anyway. It's a very fearful statement. The world was full of idiots prior to technology. It's selective to ignore the benefits technology brings. I just don't see Einstein expressing that kind of fear.

It's just weird that anybody would make up something like that...It's entirely possible.

It's selective to ignore the benefits technology brings. I just don't see Einstein expressing that kind of fear. The phrase "technology will surpass our human interaction" doesn't even make any sense to me ... I've only seen this whole quote in the context of the accelerated use of handhelds, which is the only thing that's ever given it any meaning to me. Even then though, the meaning is quite flawed -- to date the machines are used to generate primarily process and raw data, while the content underlying the interactions subject to the criticism of the quote is still overwhelmingly generated by id -- er, ... humans.

In order for it to be attributed to Einstein, the onus is on the quoter. If there's no attribution then the person quoting him is generating an illusion -- and not in the sense that "it's all imagination", but in the sense that a lie is being told.

Okay, then between the two of you, what are you trying to say here? I'm a liar or what? I don't think so, but am unclear on what you are trying to convey. I simply saw this while googling images and thought it was sorta cool and chose to post it here. edit - I understood top - that one's wrapped up and I shouldn't have said 'between the two of you...' - to be clear.

On one hand, to be very clear: no, I'm not saying that you posting that picture constitutes you lying to me, top or anyone else who would read it. Now, if there is a lie there is a source of that lie. It's an interesting question -- did the person who put that up from where you copied it, are they a liar? Maybe, maybe not, but in any event, if they are aware of the controversy, then they're aware that they're re-enforcing the perception that Einstein said some that he might not have. Finally, there is the question of whether or not you're deceiving yourself about whether Einstein actually said that. What is your basis for believing that he did? Does that basis matter to you? If not, why display a picture of him saying it?

I think it should be obvious that I didn't start questioning it until top said something and then, I went back and revisited the quote and realized hey yeah, it could be something that someone made up mainly because when I really stopped to think about it, it didn't quite sound like his manner of speaking.

Thank God someone already did the leg work.. hehe.. excepting now I find myself wondering if this random dude on the internet can be trusted either.. lol "In conclusion, QI believes that Albert Einstein did not write or say any of the three variant quotations. Individuals who were aggravated by the behavior patterns of cell phone users probably facilitated the construction, evolution, and dissemination of this meme. The phrasing of the saying has changed over time and different sets of pictures have been attached. QI hypothesizes that the origination date was recent, perhaps as late as 2012. The efforts of the creators have been successful for now. The basic saying has achieved viral status with its dubious ascription." - quoteinvestigator.com/2013/03/19/tech-surpass/

Maybe Next Lifetime.
Never can I hold you and tell you how I feel never can you know me and let me feel you're real.
Never could we be forever in bliss maybe next lifetime if such a thing exists.
..And who's to say you'd recognize? Who's to say you'd know that we have something special between our very souls? Who's to say you'd acknowledge it who's to say you'd care? Who's to say that I'm not only dreaming and a connection is even there?
It is only my dream for you to awaken to my reality, maybe next lifetime you will get to see yourself inside me.
Although it is clear that in this life we could never live in bliss maybe next lifetime it will be different if such a thing exists.
