Idk what happened ~ I just thought (!) I posted something here, and it's not here! *shrug* Whooooh. Start again: I'll tell ya something physical. Starting last night at 11:33, there was a 1-jolt little earthquake here in southern California (about 4.4). I knew with this heat, Ms. Earth wasn't done with us......this morning at 9:35, there was a good-sized little one that lasted seconds, a couple of bumps and a rattle. Then again at 9:51 a small one. It took me ages to get over the '87 earthquake, about a 6.0 on the Richter scale......I lost a stack of my grandmother's heirloom dinner plates and was mopping milk and apple juice off the kitchen floor, etc. For the longest time afterwards, everytime a big truck would bump down the road or something like that, it gave me the jitters. And now, after many years and the loss of my son, it's no big deal (heeeyeah). What is it about us / humanity that when we lose a loved one, something really big like that, and something else threatens, we say, "Bring it," y'know, get that chip on our shoulder? Then, in the next beat, we look around and say to ourselves "Shut up, you Dummy!" ;D *I know what happened now ~ because of the earthquake, I can't even post this thing yet because when I try, it says "...too busy..." Gack~

Gack~ The obvious thing is that after such major life changing events, things like Earthquakes seem like small peanuts, but maybe there's also the refusal to be intimidated by life. 'Bring it' is a backlash to life's seeming attempt to cower us into submission, though maybe we're not so sure we can win that war. ;D

Thanks for saying something. ;D On the couple of forums that I belong to, I've been getting quieter and quieter......things are simmering in there, y'know? I just wanted to say that the 1st video, the hoop lady - she's like a daily vitamin - I'm simply mesmerized by her performance. And the whole troupe is just so amazing. I watch it a few times everyday. If you or anyone else would like to post a youtube of something related, I heartily invite you to do it.

yea I know -- gumby. this guy I find totally inspiring too. More for his spirit of adventure. Just a regular guy working at NASA in the 60's: Joe Kittinger he still holds the record (for a few more months) at freefall -- 102,800 feet (in 1960!). We're talking space pretty much. From a weather balloon. Here's his jump set to Boards of Canada: (I think that's andrew in the tube

speaking of tubes and such. Everyone must partake in this bit of big wave surfing:
Mike Parsons
Credit for this shot really goes to the vid team in the helicopter, especially the guy holding the camera. He paid respect to the wave.

"No matter how many times I have seen it, I still watch it again." Yes, that's the kind we're looking for. The kind we can't stop watching. Welcome in, Andrew.
