An anthropologist put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the children of an African tribe that whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run, they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats. When he asked them why they had run like that when one could have had all the fruits for himself they said, "Ubuntu, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?" Ubuntu in the Xhosa culture means "I am because we are."

So...if there were kids who shared as a matter of course, they should be put down and derided for it? What? This stuff doesn't fit in with your philosophy?

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER: "Most were teenagers... and were raped by between 10 to 100 soldiers a day at military rape camps," Lee states on her website. "Women were starved, beaten, tortured, and killed. By some estimates only 25 to 30 percent survived the ordeal." comment: Ssebo 9 Fans One of the more important reasons the women can never forget is the fact that Japan keeps denying the gravity and impact of what the country inflicted on these women and keeps looking for "excuses" to explain its war time behaviour. This is in sharp contrast to the way Germany and the German people acknowledged and apologized for all the evil they unleashed on the Jewish people during the Second World War. "Nie wieder Krieg" actually refers to the German people's promise to never again do what they then did. This also explains why relations between Germany and Israel are almost cordial while the Korean PM recently snubbed Japanese trade talks over Japan's continued denial of its war crimes. Also China's belligerent attitude over a few islands is more than just geopolitical manoeuvring. The Chinese still feel the need to get even with Japan for Japanese atrocities that were never acknowledged. There's a lesson in this for all of us. A perpetrator who keeps denying his wrong doings will make it almost impossible for his victims to forgive and move on. And in this way the perpetrator continues to be reminded of and confronted with his crimes. 25 Nov 2013 9:56 AM =================================== It's not just a one-sided thing, Top.

The Japanese are a proud and reserved nation. They must be given more time to come to terms with the apology that will eventually come forth from them. This film The Railway Man is another step in that process. The BBC filmed the meeting written about in this article.. therealsingapore.com/content/tortured-japanese-ww2-former-pow-met-his-tormentor-again-50-years-later.. It was truly heartbreaking to feel the distress of Takashi Nagase, as he tried his best to express his regret, at what he had had to do to Eric Lomax.

If it embarrasses you,or bothers you in any way, I could remove it, but then why did you make the letters so big? As you already know, we are the ones who end up talking about it or have, and I can't help myself because it's an issue that will remain undealt with in any appropriate, intelligent way - I mean, if sharon can express hope for a similar issue, there's hope for all, because it's all the same ball o' wax.

I have no problem or discomfort with discussing anything. That's your projection onto me. I just want to know why you added my forum handle to it. I haven't posted in this thread for EONS months. So you're talking towards something you think you see in me, but you are avoiding talking to me. I'm not the one with discomfort in talking about that something. What is it you think you're talking to in me? Why did you add my name to the post?
