"Could you clarify this part?" ~ Yes it can be rewritten ~ A heart that is fully healed is free to live as a naked as the day it was born. And so a human that has completed the experiences that ordered their life has an emotional intelligence that can be felt ~ by all creatures ~ consistently. Too much identification for me but if that floats your boat so be it. IT's just going to happen as it happens.. Michael

Sorta like being able to 'read' someone's feelings, or the opposite, being able to be 'read'? Sounds like empathy, but wouldn't that be the same as getting attached to feelings? I can see letting them happen and being unable to 'land' as Enigma said, but it seems like that would have to apply to any feeling. All feelings are feelings regardless of the content so wouldn't 'reading' others or being 'read' yourself require the feeling to be special somehow?
For example, if I had a 'healed heart' and feelings rose and fell away, they're still happening, but the only way you could tell I was happy is if you had an emotional investment to base it on.
Sorry for all the questions but you sparked a bit of curiosity...

Yes, because there is only one ~ reading feelings is natural and a 'side-effect' of not using energy to maintain a separate self anymore. Well ~ Empathy was best described once, as when we walk beside someone else. It's relative, Sympathy, [as in family member ] is where we feel sorry for someone else ~ the difference is subtle though how it plays out in experience is seen for itself yeah? Yes ~ the acceptance of What Is, is about all phenomena, including all sensations and feelings as well yeah? Hmmm ~ I'm not completely sure about the term 'emotional investment' ~ it has me a bit stuck :-) The healing of the heart is based in the reality that it is a healing organ itself yeah? ~ and so it can self heal, so to speak. Any directed intention to bring this about will allow this to happen. Only you know the difference between what is a scar and what is a natural sensation arising as a direct result of acclimatisation and integration. I'm not sure what you mean by special ~ could you explain further please ... Please don't be sorry ~ a kind friend said very recently get silly instead ~ curiousity is healthy, it never killed any cats perhaps just a few hours

Heart: What is it? That's a good question. :-) Personally, I associate heart with feeling. Its similar to, but not the same as an emotional feeling, that would be a response to thought. Heart comes from a deeper place of knowing or recognition of our oneness; seeing the other as the self, and the self as the other.
So, perhaps a more pithy definition would be: Heart is a place of limitless warmth, gentleness and space.

Everything I asked pretty much collapses into this. Understanding what it's like to be _______ rather than seeing _______ and letting it stick to you. Thanks!
I'm not sure I could explain heart in my own words though..

Yeah ~ emptiness dissolves into emptiness
None of it can get stuck when you're certain you are nothing, basically

To be honest I can hear my heart thumping but a spiritual heart....I have to say there is no such thing from my personal experience. It's just wishy washy fantasy or simply put imagination at work.

Right, personal experience would have to be something else.

If I understand correctly there seem to be two definitions.
a) Feelings, emotions, energy shenanigans. Open heart good, closed heart not so good. b) Heart of Beingness. Which is what? Is it something different from Being, Self, God etc itself? If not, why say Heart instead of Self, Being etc?
Is the cultivatation of heart as defined in a) important?

In reference to (b), I'm a good one for trying to conceptualize what should never be conceptualized, but heart of Being..... can't go there AT all.

But you're the one who worded it that way. Are you saying that heart has nothing to do with Being or that for you there is Heart of Beingness but it's impossible to say anything about it?

Just to confuse the issue even more, I would say that it is both a) and b)... It's a feeling/ knowing, that seems to come from your center or core, from a deep space within you. It's not really that either because it's a personnel experience, that can't be explained in words, but is rather, a felt kind of sense, again, it's beyond the explanation provided here. TRF

But you're the one who worded it that way. Are you saying that heart has nothing to do with Being or that for you there is Heart of Beingness but it's impossible to say anything about it? As I also said, defining it is more problematic than defining the human heart. It's kind of the essence of the essence. I spose the reason for using the term is to try to point beyond ALL possible conceptualizations, so to try to define it would be counterproductive. I don't see it as particularly important.

question- we should all ask ourselves when these questions arise, why do i want to know what heart is? am i trying to wake up, or am i more concerned with the physical life, because in many instances we would see that our questioning is focusing our attention away from our goal. if you are concerned with waking up focusing on your body's centers and how to be most aware of them is counter productive. body and feeling awareness only relates to awakening in so far as we are able to let the body go, to release it.
if your focus is on living life more fully experiencing everything to the utmost then opening your heart center will be of value to you. here the problem is that everyone will relate to their heart center differently because we have all had very different experiences. focusing on any body center just takes practice so be sure that it's something you actually want before you begin.
to me focusing on the heart center just takes my eye off of the ball. focusing on anything in this place is of no concern to me because this world is taking care of itself. i am on a ride and i just need to remember to keep my seat belt fastened and my hands inside the vehicle at all times.
