Perhaps by observing the natural world, and stepping outside of our mind made world, we have a better chance of discovering the splendor and aliveness of the actual.

I have always loved those quiet walks into the woods by myself.

We feel a resonance while being in nature. It's life in manifestation, before the mind takes hold and tries to own it.
Quiet the mind and listen, you'll find yourself in a tree, flowing in a brook and sailing across the rolling hills.
Nature, the great teacher, reminds you, who you are...

Yes it can and nature can also show you who you are not. Nature is not always pleasant, it can be horrifying such as Hurricanes, Tidal waves, Earthquakes etc. It's all mind quiet mind vs upset mind.

A hurricane is only horrifying to a person with a personal investment in hurricanes.

...that if your trying to avoid someone or something, you always run into them or it.
Maybe the key to finding enlightenment, is by trying to avoid it...

Yes, same with those personal investments. You can stay with quiet walks until a hurricane, or something else, shows up. Then what?

Not only do peeps fear the truth, but they fear the fear... To the wise, fear, when properly looked at and explored through self awareness, can be a catalyst, for spiritual growth.

I would say that what drives experience is nether desire nor aversion as such, but interest. As mentioned, aversion will often draw experiences as effectively as desire, and what both of these have in common is interest, which can take the form of either a pushing or a pulling that we might simply call engagement. Hencely, we experience what we are psychically engaged with, whether it be pleasant or unpleasant; whether it holds great promise or great terror.
However, it's not possible for a person to be interested in Truth. He CAN be interested in the personal conceptualized consequences, such as conceptual freedom, love, peace, joy, the void, but none of these dualistic concepts relate to Truth. This is why 'spiritual experiences' are quite easily accomplished as mind states, while dissilution into Beingness is rare as hen's teeth. Nobody is interested.
