First on the teachers part yes that is how it can go and certainly I agree but again just as pointers. Also one should never beleive what a teacher tells you as truth because it is not. It is just what it is.Of course. If the student is not verifying the teachers words by their own experience then it's a waste of time for both of them. As far as my own awakening I never once doubted it nor seek to question it. Yes of course I do have questions we all do but never on my own awakening. I mean how on earth can you question your own awakening for me it would be impossible. When you see who you really are it is not of the mind that you see with. The mind cannot see anything all the mind can do is to dream in the past. When the mind trys to be in the present moment it finds out it can never ever be in the present because in the present is no'mind so what happens is the mind makes up stories of what it thinks it is all about. This is why I say if you question your awakening I doubt that it was a real awakening more than not it was the mind trying to come up with a story of what awakening is and then to claim it as its own. You follow me..This is why so many people are running around thinking they are awake but when you look a little deeper you see that it is all made up concepts that they are beleiving in and it is all mind.Doesn't sound like you had any doubt issues. It seems that many people do. All I will say is that it happens all different ways. This universe seems rife with all possibilities, and all possibilities really does mean all. I've been a part of many things that work a way that it's "not supposed to work." I don't know. That's just what I've seen. Anyway, I don't worry about it. It all sounds so complicated for me. Too far into conjecture. In the end, it doesn't really matter... As far as being home I do not buy your story of not knowing your home to begin with. Either way. It's an attempt to describe something. Awareness is already there. Everyone is already it. Thus, they are already experiencing their own Awareness without realizing it. Enlightenment is literally just recognizing what is already going on. Any change after that is a spontaneous result of that recognition (assuming you want to say that the initial Awakening wasn't . Everyone knows their home so when your in your home you know it. Now what you would question would be a home but not yours that was made up from memory by the mind.Everyone's already home. Some realize it, some don't. You would see somethings as being very similar but something would just be off a bit and that would give rise to the question . this is what the mind does but the mind will and can only fail at every attempt simply for the reason that the mind cannot know anything nondual. the mind byitself only divides and makes the opposites and divides them into many. the mind cannot know Oneness so it makes up stories the best it can about Oneness. that is all that is really happening LM stories being made up by the mind. the real thing which can never be known by the mind can never be made up can it.Not intended to be dismissive, but this is too much mind stuff. I just go with my experience.... All the best, LM

Wow that was quite the read thank you. I can relate to what the author says about the way it feels like creepy not blissful etc. You know I often wondered why when I woke up it was not the shock that it could had been. Do not mistake what I am saying it was very different in a way but I feel that somehow I was more prepared then many for this. Let me explain a for a long time in my life I would take LSD, Shrooms etc. there were times where I took 5 to 10 times the amount recommended to take for a experience. I became very familar with energy shifts in the body and the mind In all of that my body mind got quite use to extreme shifts in energy of the mind body connection. I feel that this helped in advoiding a lot of the shock that the author talks about. A good example of this is lets say me as I am now or even before I was awake was just going about my day and someone dropped in some LSD into my drink but did not tell me. what would happen would be at first I would be in a little shock but then my body mind would just go into adjustment and all would be Ok. Now take the same sencerio but instead of me put in a person that has never done LSd or any mind drugs can you begin to imagine the results. As I am writing this another experience comes to mind with theAmerican turned Guru Baba Ram Dass. He tells the story when he slipped his Indian Guru some LSD more than enough to get off on and nothing atall happened. Thanks again for the article their is a lot of very useful info. What is the authors current situation these days, what is he up to.. Peace Randyji

Do you know or read his new book called"The Haunted Universe" Norquist has a book out? I had no idea. After his article, I saw nothing in the way of correspondence from him -- he went completely silent. I was (and probably am) still wondering if he pulled a fast one on us with a carefully crafted article and sat back to watch us wonder. -

Here is another accounting of awakening which is interesting and informative Interesting article, but I question the author saying: Unlike the first awakening that only lasted a few moments with two weeks of transformation, this was every moment from the time the eyes opened early in the morning until they closed in bed late that night.
This might be a simple case of the inadequacy of words to express enlightenment, but I am under the belief that the Awareness persists throughout the waking, dreaming and dreamless sleep state; that is, is always present and persistent. The author is telling us his Awareness starts and stops with the waking and sleeping states. If this is true, his enlightenment story may very well be fiction. But who am I to question the authenticity of his experience? To be honest, the awareness of an 'I' is still present and strong in me -- I claim no enlightenment myself, but as a young adult I have experienced very brief glimpses of perception without the feeling of a perceiver, but to have evoked that feeling required very focused and subtle concentration I've never again been able to duplicate. -

As far as the I ness goes I remember also when I was very young I would always go to bed witha question about God. Now at thatage I knew nothing really about God except what I was told that God created everything and before the creation was only God so I do not why but I would always think before I went to sleep what was there before God. Because I was programmed to think that time was real then there must have been a time before God and what was that! Funny what you think about when your a child.. Randyji

I heard a lot of good things about Richard I have one of Rose's books, The Albigen Papers. He might be genuinely aware, but I don't like his style at all. He's all over the map regarding what he has dabbled in, talks about oddball occult things in his book, etc. He might be well-intentioned, but he comes off to me like a crackpot. The people who have made the absolute most impact on me are Ken Wilber ( Spectrum of Consciousness for the big win), Jed McKenna, U.G. Krishnamurti, Nagarjuna, Nisargadatta, and Ramana Maharshi. That excludes old hats seemingly not related to the nonduality game like Immanuel Kant, Kurt Godel, Heisenberg, and a few other philosophers/scientists I can't name right now. To be honest, I've read so much over the years that I've lost track of all my influences. One day I'm thinking of organizing my collection of electronic documents and putting them up for download. They cover every discipline devoted to uncovering Truth -- various religions, certain branches of mathematics and philosophy, lots of sutras, scientific papers, etc. -

I understand it it not that hard at all to make e books. Lots of simple software for that purpose.. Cheers Randyji

That is a wonderful idea and I hope you do it! I understand it it not that hard at all to make e books. Well, the vast majority of my documents are in PDF for or saved from webpages in Internet Explorer web archives (which is a snapshot of the webpage exactly as it appeared on the site, including images), so no conversion necessary. I just have to sort through the documents to make sure no personal ones managed to slip in there, then I'm going to organize them into categories and subfolders and include a little foreward for seekers that happen to find or are directed to the collection. -

God's Consciousness is not a sack of potatoes.....you can sell it however but I am sure your karmic account will adjust as the result. Adyashanti is one of my favourites. Randyji, why do you find it shameful that anyone sells it as a business? What does it have to do with you? You don't know the purpose behind paying money to listen to his teachings but you assume that he's selling non duality. Maybe he needs the money to live, anyway you shouldn't judge him for it. Besides I've listened to most of his stuff and never had to pay a cent.
