Hi all ... hope all is well ... just returned from a wonderful, moving and heartwarming/heartbreaking day ... Ian is now sitting up and burst into tears when he saw us ... his eyes spoke volumes and said all the things his mouth could not ... Helen Hayes is an amazing place and, no doubt, are doing God's work for these unfortunate boys and girls who are suffering head trauma, strokes and whatever else they treat in this wonderful hospital ...

for Ian ...
I looked into the eyes of love today I looked into the eyes of pain ... my first thought was to look away but I looked back again ...
not a word was spoken ... as silence had it's way ... his eyes, they told me everything his lips just could not say
they told of things we both recalled of joy and laughter past ... they spoke of youth and boundless joy how things can change so fast
the tears that fell between us both burned and set us free looking ahead to what will come and what there is to see ...
there's courage here and force of mind and a load of work ahead ... with each new day a victory new chapters to be read
the race is long, the way is hard but love will save the day I looked into the eyes of love today and love looked back my way ...

from sister Celena ...
spoke to mommy earlier ... she said Ian had a great day today ... during speech therapy he laughed and she heard his voice so she knows its in there ... also during physical therapy while being assisted they held him under both arms and after a run through, he was directed to put one foot in front of the other and he did, 25 feet!!! ... he still can't hold his wieght up alone but he remembered the foward motion of walking ... awesome right??... I know you all would love that ... also he got a few sips of a thick drink that he tried and didn't do great with ... so she will try and give him chocolate pudding or applesauce tomorrow ... yeah Ian just might be able to have garlic mashed taters for thanksgiving after all ... and what else but to give absolute thanks to god ...
