Hi Mawgee
What are you searching for, and what are you confused about?
Best Wishes, Peter

I think this is a fine place for your post, Sutara. There's no difference between this section and the General Spiritual except for the moderation rules that get applied there.
Best Wishes, Peter

Same email address I see. Fancied a fresh start eh Firebird? Your avatar is certainly brighter this incarnation. Is that a phoenix being born from the flames reference? Teach? Good luck with that. You'd need to find someone who was willing to admit they had something to learn for that to happen. Doesn't often happen round here. Are you really in France? How's that working out? I'm in Corsica currently which is a lovely healthy safe environment for my kids to be growing up in, but we're due to move back to the UK soon. Rain. Drizzle.

Perhaps a little too psychological for some of our readership, but I think that motivations somewhere on a scale from a wish to help others right up to a full blown messiah complex can be seen at work on this forum, so I thought this article was relevant when I came across it.

Okay, I would expect more 'exemplary' behavior from a full fledged moderator, but my understanding is that he has not taken on (or been given the power) to act on Pete's behalf. As I understand it, his responsibility is only to monitor the unmoderated section for attack content. That seems to be why he has taken on the deputy persona and not sheriff. If you see him violating that protocol, there would be a legitimate complaint. I see folks are having difficulty separating the roles, and sometimes I think this difficulty is purposeful. Stop looking for model behavior from the deputy in charge of jaywalking, and the seeming problem goes away. To clarify: Laughter is a fully powered up member of the moderator team, and has the same remit and scope for intervention as I do. All 3 of us (4 if you count LightMystic) have/had our own ideas about how much of that power to wield and how this board should best be run (or left to run). Shawn was very clear in explaining how he'd like this board to run and what functions we, the management team, should perform and I think he captured the whole complexity and nuance of it most adroitly in saying "carry on". I took those wise words to heart and try to live by them, daily.

PS: Why does the video escape the edit-bot? The video data (including the title, the whole frame in fact) gets pulled directly from YouTube and doesn't go through the ProBoards servers, so the censor code doesn't get a look in. P

So answer an honest straightforward question. Did you think that swansong was known to me (or me)? I've no idea. Are they?

Hmm. Perhaps you should show those posts to your Mother and see if she also "misperceives" what you wrote? I was testing a hypotheses. It wasn't personal. I wouldn't want to show my mother, she's not into spiritual develpoement. Haven't you heard? It's never personal here. What is it now, 5 years? I can't remember ever seeing anyone admit to making it personal. It may have happened. What was your hypothesis, and what conclusion did you draw from the results?

Maybe it is you misperceived me? I meant no disrespect whatsoever. Hmm. Perhaps you should show those posts to your Mother and see if she also "misperceives" what you wrote?

What, Swansong, a user who registered 10 hours ago and feels like the 1st and only thing they want to share with the board is their negative opinion of the moderator's skills? My first inclination was to ban the account out of hand, so I'd be interested to see if they'd rather have had that or the accusatory title. The accusatory title isn't about swansong, it's about me. So what is your point? You're making it about you. It's not about you, unless Swansong was your sock puppet. Was she? I suppose I made the chop for the move at your post because of your statement "As a staff member, your conduct on this thread is shameful to the site." which - if Steve is to have the attack free thread that he so clearly desires - seemed like a necessary point to make the shift. You don't think your "discussion" had drifted in the realm of argumentativeness at that point? I'm sure you didn't, but I did. Still do. I don't know that I really have a point. You're the one asking the questions, I'm answering as best I can.

taking a new members post and putting a title that will enable a minority of people to laugh at that member, doesn't show that you use your authority well. What, Swansong, a user who registered 10 hours ago and feels like the 1st and only thing they want to share with the board is their negative opinion of the moderator's skills? The fact that, rather than move my post to an un-moderated post based on the title of the thread it came from, laughter has placed it under a title of his own choosing, shows a person who cannot use the power give to moderators wisely. In time, he will no doubt succeed in closing the site down. Ooh drama. I can feel my moth like wings being attracted to the flame of your energetic posting. Actually I moved these posts out here because Steve objected to people bickering in his freshly minted "No Attack" thread. I might have kept a similar title if I thought the discussion was going to stick to the original topic, but I didn't, and it hasn't. You didn't think the title was funny? I did. So did Steve. His rear end fell off, if his posting is to be believed. I think Laughter is doing just fine, and you might like to review the posts of previous moderators to compare the approach taken. In the cosmic scheme of things, the "power" that gets granted to moderators is less impressive than you might imagine. Delete a post here, move a post there. Attempt to appeal to someone's better nature to post a little more constructively here, threaten a ban there. Not really comparable to the remit of the Silver Surfer, for example. Heck, the Karate Kid had more powers than your average moderator. P
