Does it make sense for Ego (I myself) that is unsuccessful at solving problems to wish it didn't exist to avoid rejection and failure?
Should it come across nonduality, it may recognise the perfect defence and claim it's non existance. Of course it doesn't believe in nonduality, it's not interested in truth, it just proclaims it to be true to claim it's own death..............and survive! Ironically it may get so comfortable behind that defence that it does actually drop away. Bingo!

Great points all around! For me, anything that would label some part of you as the "ego" (essentially saying - this thing is separate from me) IS the ego. Ego is more of a process, a way of functioning as if things are separate. Allowing yourself not to reject, not to be separate from, the rejection and failure feelings allows the resistance to those feelings to fade. These just need your gentle attention, like a child that is afraid....
