Hi Lightmystic, You asked for poking in another thread, so here I am. You said:
What is wrong with inconsistencies?

Thanks porto,
Hehe....good question....
Inconsistencies, the way I am referring to them (or the way I interpreted Paul as referring to them) involves a disparity between what is said and the person's direct experience. In terms of a practical teaching method, it seems to be pretty much the only thing that gets in the way of the truth. If we are honest with ourselves about our real experience, then everything else can come. And that's easier said than done, but it does work, as I think you are aware from your own experience.... In terms of pointing to something in apparently opposite ways, or describing something that that we think of as either/or in terms of one thing that is Both, then that is something I heartily ascribe to and encourage. But that is because it's pointing to a direct experience, and is not dishonest in any way. If that is what you mean by inconsistencies, then I am all for them.
On a larger scale, there's nothing wrong with lying about our experience. That is pretty common, and it's an innocent thing. It's only done because of lack of awareness or from an apparent lack of safety (which comes from a lack of awareness). So, although it's not useful in any sense for getting clearer, there's nothing WRONG with it per se. And, in terms of recognizing the ways we are already inconsistent, we can get clearer by doing so. So, in that sense, there is actually a great joy in discovering inconsistency, because in really seeing untruth clearly, then the truth is revealed as well....
Make sense?
