There isn't a way to make a short OP, but I'll try. What is the 5% universe?, what does that mean? Today's science says everything we can measure about the universe adds up to only 5% of what necessarily must be. So even for today's scientists, 95% of the universe is missing, cannot be directly measured. We've known about Dark Matter since about the 1930's. Astronomer Fritz Zwicky noticed something odd about the Coma cluster of stars, they were rotating 99% faster than they should have from our understanding of gravity. And looking over the years they began to find this phenomenon in all galaxies, even the Milky Way, Vera Rubin in the 1970's confirmed this, matter and energy as we know them account for only 10% of the speed of rotation of galaxies. So Dark Matter was proposed as a theory responsible, the missing reason.
For decades Astronomers posed the question, do we live in an open universe or a closed universe? Closed means there is enough gravity for the universe to at some point begin contracting in a kind of a reverse Big Bang, and end up again as a single point, and end up in a heat death. Open means the universe will just keep expanding forever, and end up in a cold death. In the late 1990's astronomers first measured the accelerating expansion of the universe, space itself is expanding faster and faster. So they pulled out of the closet what Einstein consider his greatest blunder, the Cosmological Constant. Einstein pulled it out of thin air and introduced it into his relativity equations to make a Steady State universe, neither expanding nor contracting. Then in the late 1920's Hubble showed the universe was indeed expanding, so Einstein admitted he had blundered. But the late 1990's measurements showed the universe accelerating expanding to be in alignment with Einstein's Cosmological Constant. So we live in a virtually flat universe, with the expansion accelerating (becoming more open). So Astronomer's invented a 'place holder', Dark Energy, as the cause for the accelerating expansion. So in both Dark Matter and Dark Energy, experimental results drive theory. Dark Matter constitutes 26.1% of the missing universe, has gravity; Dark Energy constitutes 69.4%, it is a kind of anti-gravity, adding up to 95.5%. This is generally rounded to 95%, 5% being the known universe. Both Dark Energy and Dark Matter have been experimentally proven, physicists just don't know what they are constituted of, they are invisible to our instruments, we know they exist from what they cause.
OK, we leave physics, enter metaphysics. In physics there are two fundamental laws, General Relativity and quantum mechanics. They are not compatible, cannot be understood in terms of each other, yet both are experimentally proven. They collide, must be combined in black hole physics, and in the Big Bang. Physicists can't yet do this, fully, but some progress has been made. Metaphysically, the two fundamental laws are the law of three and the law of seven. The law of 3 shows us 3 forces, active/positive force, passive/negative force, balancing/neutralizing/reconciling force. We all know about polarities, yin and yang, protons-electrons. Third force is not readily apparent. Take a lever. The object you want to move is negative-resistance. The lever is the positive energy. The fulcrum, the place to put the lever, is third force. You've heard of catalysts. They are necessary for a reaction to occur, but are not involved in the chemistry of the reaction. A catalyst is third force. In an atom you have protons (positive force), neutrons (neutralizing force) and electrons (negative force). So what is a triad? Three forces combining. Positive + negative results in another something, the 3rd. This new third becomes either a new positive force, or a new negative force. On what does this depend? On whether the flow is ascending or descending. The higher blends with the lower to actualize the middle, and the middle becomes a new lower if the flow is ascending, or the new 3rd becomes a new higher if the flow is descending. IOW, the new result is either positive or negative depending upon whether the octave is an ascending octave or a descending octave. The actualized middle is positive in an ascending octave, negative in a descending octave. So what is the basis of the flow? The octave is the basis of the flow. And we come to another form of acceleration. In an octave there are periods of acceleration and there are periods of retardation (slowing down). As far as the Whole universe? The origin is One unified Whole. It can't ascend to be greater than it is, so creation-formation is a descending octave. The One becomes Three, as it says in The Tao Te Ching, 1-active-positive, 2-passive-negative, 3-neutralizing-balancing-reconciling. And thereafter the formation of the worlds is just a series of Triads. And the energy moves according to the law of 7, AKA the law of octaves (8 is a new do, repeating). So One, the origin, would be the highest vibration of the wave aspect, the highest frequency, and simultaneously, the lowest density of the particle aspect.
I will insert here, these periods of acceleration and retardation are in everything, in all octaves, in all events, in all projects. We see it here on ST's forums. We've just been through several days of retardation, slowing down. And we all know periods of acceleration, where threads just sometimes pop, pages and pages a day. Once you know to look for them, these accelerations or decelerations, you will see them in all events, in all projects. Why? Because the flow of energy is not evenly spaced, not uniform. I don't know music, but a musical octave is one example of an octave, or a series of octaves. From one do to a higher do, the frequency of vibrations doubles. Or from a higher octave to a lower octave, halved. The energy flows evenly from do to re and from re to mi. But between mi and fa there is an interval, energy does not flow smoothly. This mi-fa interval is responsible for the slowing of vibrations. New energy has to enter here to maintain the original intent of the beginning project. Then, energy can flow to sol. There is another interval here, a disharmony between sol and la, but the energy is not diverted, it continues to si (or ti) where there is another interval between si and the next do of the new octave. This interval must again be filled with new incoming energy. If this energy does not arrive, your project is stopped, it doesn't reach fulfillment.
So the law of three and the law of seven are responsible for all the events we see in life, three forces and then how these forces flow. I didn't even get to the why of the OP, but I'm done for now, the why will come later. I will give a short preview. The ancients knew of these laws and these flows of energy, it was called The Great Chain of Being. The cosmology of Plotinus is an example, the Enneads. What we know of Hermes Trismegistus also corresponds, As above, so below. Another hint, third force is not easily seen, but it's necessary for an event to occur. Oh, one more thing, the guy who designed the Periodic Table of Elements, based it upon the octave. Certain characteristics of the elements repeated, so when they repeated a new line was formed. An example of these repeats are the Noble gases, AKA the Inert gases, they are all lined up on the Periodic Table as a repeating octave (thus the name, periodic).
OK, one more thing, there are ascending octaves and there are descending octaves. If everything were left to its own devices, entropy reigns. One thing physicists cannot explain, on the whole, entropy is always increasing, today, on the whole, the universe is less ordered than yesterday. So take it all back to the beginning, physicists cannot explain why the Big Bang was the most ordered state of the universe. But, we, here, can explain it easily, Consciousness is the origin.
OK, one more thing, this constant flow from higher to lower or from lower to higher, is in the form of a torus, AKA a vortex (a torus is two vortexes, end to end, basically, all metaphysical vortexes come in these pairs). If you look at a flowing torus, on one end the energy is flowing out, on the other end the energy is flowing in.

), it's a description of Gurdjieff's cosmology. Where is the missing Dark Matter and Dark Energy? The higher dimensions. World One is the Absolute, or Do. The second world is called world 3, because it consists of the three forces, 1-active-positive, 2-passive-negative, 3-neutralizing-balancing-reconciling. It's called all galaxies (and this was before we even knew Andromedia was a separate galaxy, which can be seen by the naked eye, IOW, before we even had a glimpse of the billions of galaxies that exist, back to 1912 when Gurdjieff started teaching publicly). It sounds si, because creation is a descending octave. These three forces are AKA the three gunas, 1-rajas, 2-tamas, 3-sattva. The cosmology is an outer description of the inner worlds. The third world is constructed from a series of triads built upon-from the second world (explained in the OP-I, the higher blends with the lower to actualize the middle, and this in a series of combining triads). It's called world 6, from the multiplication of triads. It sounds la. It's our galaxy, all suns, or stars, the Milky Way (or in another Ray of Creation, any galaxy). The 4th world is called world 12, our Sun. It sounds sol (appropriately). The 5th world is all the planets of our solar system, it's called world 24. It sounds Fa. The 6th world is called world 48, it's Earth, it sounds mi. The 7th world is the Moon, it's called world 96, it sounds re. The Moon is the end of the ray of Creation. And re returns to Do, the Absolute, which is inclusive of All That Is. In Judaism ayin means nothing, or the Void. It also equates to En (same as Ain) as in En Sof (or Ain Sof or Ein Sof), which means infinity, endlessness. (see below *)
