inavalan is right, we all have beliefs. spiritualteachers.proboards.com/thread/5573/trust?q=beliefs
Beliefs are like a shorthand, a synopsis. Now, even people with Realizations, have beliefs. When we operate in life we don't refer back to our realizations, or even knowledge, we refer back to our beliefs. Beliefs constitute a world view. Now, some here are going to argue with this, they are going to say there is just response to What Is. There are no things, there is just the movement of the Whole. But if there are no things, then there are also no concepts, no abstractions. OK, let's say that's correct. Then how are ~we~ communicating? Alan Turing conceptually invented the computer. Gopal or laughter could tell us of what a computer exists, basically. From memory it's something like 4 simple commands, and computers we have today are just a series of these commands. So a series of numerous people took what Turing wrote and built processors and gates designed language to tell the processing what to do.
Now, all that is not natural. It exists today because of man's conceptual creativity. Babies learn language, learn how to conceptualize. Babies are useless, they can't do anything except eat and poop and sensually explore the world. If babies did not grow up and learn language, they could not learn to take care of themselves and so would remain useless. They would continue to need other people to supply food to feed them.
If we did not have language we would still live in the bushes and forests and would still be gathering berries to eat to live to exist.
So, nobody tell me you don't have beliefs. Beliefs are our primary means of operating in the world. If you didn't have beliefs every morning when you wake up you would have to start up all over again learning how to operate in the world. Our beliefs are formed from knowledge which is formed from learning by sensing or learning via concepts, mostly a combination of both. Now, most of this now takes place through unconscious processing, but this is based upon ~once having learned it~.
Now, there have been found feral children, children raised by animals. THEY are what it's like to live without concepts. I'm sure nobody here would choose to have been raised in such a manner. Even found, they are impoverished forever.
So, nobody tell me you live without words, without language, without conceptualization, without things, without beliefs. Beliefs are just simplified programming, shortcuts.
Now, having said all that, there is some-no-thing beyond words. This some-no-thing may be of more value than any ~thing~, but nobody gets-there without a base and ground of learning, even if that basis of learning is now unconscious brain processing. Beliefs are basically unconscious brain processing, automatic brain processing. So it's good to realize this, and know that it's good to examine beliefs, to see which are profitable and which are ball-and-chains.
