Not just a nutshell, but a mustard seed.
The teaching is based on entropy. This is not termed entropy but the Merciless Heropass, meaning, time. So whenever you see Merciless Heropass think increasing entropy.
We originate, as essence, from a higher level, essence as a seed of possibility. Basically we are loaned life which has an expiration date. We are "sowed" into the world with more or less the same possibilities, but chance, the circumstances we were born into, in effective limits possibilities. Essence is active. Personality/ego/cultural self forms through information collected and stored, and covers over essence further limiting possibilities. Personality becomes active and essence passive. Essence is what can grow and develop and is what is connected to source of life. So if one continues to live through personality, that is, with personality active and essence passive, possibilities end there, this is the way of most people. So if one does not again live through essence, there is no connection to living being, and death is the eventual end. Entropy takes center stage, the Merciless Heropass.
The physical body is our means of connecting and living through this visible world. Through inner practices using attention and awareness energy can be saved and transformed, and another more subtle body can be formed through the growth of essence, a body of finer material than the physical, which can outlive the physical body. ...in a mustard seed...
