The big question is: can humans survive the total collapse of the food chain? My guess is no. When society breaks down the electrical grid will fail and the 450+ nuclear reactors on the planet will no longer be operational or maintained. How many of those reactors will melt down and how will it effect life on the planet. I'm thinking it will eradicate all life on earth. Might even burn off the atmosphere. Yeah, we'll try to go into space, and we will try to become cyborgs. The merging of the biological with mechanical will create a hybrid, digitally augmented reality. Human consciousness is being "sucked into" this digital realm as we speak. Look at our addiction to 2 dimensional screens. When a physical object falls into a singularity it's 3d image is literally digitized and recorded on the 2d surface of the black hole. Physics has proven that all of the information required to recreate a 3d realm can be stored on a 2d surface. This is exactly what is happening. Everything is becoming digitized, not for profit or to better humanity or any other reason. Everything and everyone's identity is being digitized because human consciousness is going through the phase transition of a physical/yang bias to a mind/yin bias. A HUGE phase within the cycle of samsara is concluding. From your crystal ball, can you tell me who'll be the NBA champs this year? I want to place a large bet. I'd like to go down with a bang. Wild party in Vegas. You're all invited.

It's called a black swan. (A most excellent book BTW). I have Swan on a Black Sea, is that any good? The title of the book is "The Black Swan" by Nassim Taleb.

This is some pretty important stuff being related. Would be cool to have a serious discussion about it.
The "why" is being explained.
It's interesting to be in a position of seeing the most fundamental workings of reality - of why we are ever increasingly addicted to thought and the screen - and having no one getting it or even care about getting it.

Have you held your Dystopian vision for many years or is it more of a transition state for you?

A discussion about the content at www.onesteppath.com under the "Nonconceptuality" tab; not a discussion between your and my egos. Thanks

Thanks "The physical realm manifests from the non-physical self-enforcing feedback loop of consciousness focusing on it's own existence." May I suggest that you have not fully understood your own words.

sadly, this doesn't surprise me. at all. What we've noticed in the UK is that it is the Left-wing, traditionally considered to be the guardians of the people that are actually those that want humanity culled the most. Who'd have thunk it eh?

What makes you think humanity is going to experience some kind of total extinction event? Global warming. And/or artificial intelligence. And/or nuclear war. But global warming for sure.

A game to be escaped? Well ... You know from nirvikalpa samadhi that even in the absence of all thought, and all sensation .. still .. there you are. But, even with only intellect and emotion, one might discern the insignificance of this planet and the species of humanity, in the grand scheme of things. The notion of the apocalypse is nothing new, but what might be novel is the opportunity for us to step outside this movement of mind - in a collective, cultural sense - and understand how it is the fact of one's own mortality projected outward, onto a grand stage, and unconsciously, that gives rise to the apocalyptic predictions. What gives rise to apocalyptic predictions are facts/science. Not the ones that have come and gone already roy. Why don't you share the 10-year predictions if you're so certain they're factual and that the science is good?

Humans are not every other species. Here in NC USA we are having weather like I've never experienced, I'm 67. Being Nov. 13, we are 6 weeks ahead of schedule, it doesn't get this cold this long until January, well below freezing. My point? Mankind has learned how to control its immediate environment, I'm not cold. And people can travel, relocate. So I don't think everyone will be killed off. A billion people? Possibly. 2 billion? Possibly. 7 billion? Possibly. Everyone? I don't think so. Heard of plans of a few rich dudes to go to Mars? Permanently? Pretty soon. Google it. A HUGE phase within the cycle of samsara is concluding. I'd be interested in a link to the source of this prediction. My first intuitive reaction is that the person who made it likely has very little sense of scale of what that would take. Also, given the past record of mass extinction, I'd be skeptical of the idea of a completely lifeless Earth barring ripping the planet from it's orbit or a collision with a comparably sized body or an unluckily directed gamma-ray burst or a rouge black hole .. or something of similar scale.

Why will it not happen? Every single species goes extinct. Every single one. It just so happens that our time is now. Humans are not every other species. Here in NC USA we are having weather like I've never experienced, I'm 67. Being Nov. 13, we are 6 weeks ahead of schedule, it doesn't get this cold this long until January, well below freezing. Yeah, I remember winters from when I was a kid where we didn't see the ground from between Thanksgiving and Easter. But even back then, I don't ever recall a snowfall that stuck before Nov 20th, and that's what we have right now. But remember, weather is only an indicator of climate when it supports the case for warming/manmade climate change.

The level of ignorance about climate change is shocking.
