Extinction means no male and female adjacent to each other, minimum. That's a tall order. Not going to happen. Why will it not happen? Every single species goes extinct. Every single one. It just so happens that our time is now.An apocalypse has never successfully been predicted. By their very nature their arrival is unknown.

No, if you're right in your prediction, 10 years give or take doesn't matter, but that's not my point. You've predicted 20, so it would be a reasonable expectation that some of the details of that prediction would have happened by the time we're half way there. I've given you a specific example of a prediction by the same group of scientists from 13 years back that was wrong. So what are the current predictions for 2030? What if the human race potentially has 100's of thousands or millions of years in front of it? What if they're wrong about the exitinction? Extinction means no male and female adjacent to each other, minimum. That's a tall order. Not going to happen. www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/2019/09/life-changing-lessons-of-the-last-male-northern-white-rhino/

To me it seems unlikely to happen on a timescale of decades or even centuries based on climate change, even if the most dire of the predictions holds true. But to say it couldn't happen is to accede to a failure of imagination. Also, technically speaking, it wouldn't require the extreme you define, but rather, a small enough population of significantly diverse breeding pairs to render the population non-viable in the long term - not accounting, of course, for any technological aides, such as an embryo bank or the ability to edit the genome. And that could happen in multiple pockets spread across the globe, assuming they were, for all practical purposes, isolated.

Being Nov. 13, we are 6 weeks ahead of schedule, it doesn't get this cold this long until January, well below freezing. My point? Mankind has learned how to control its immediate environment, I'm not cold. And people can travel, relocate. So I don't think everyone will be killed off. A billion people? Possibly. 2 billion? Possibly. 7 billion? Possibly. Everyone? I don't think so. Heard of plans of a few rich dudes to go to Mars? Permanently? Pretty soon. Google it.

Maybe the most likely scenario, a mountain size asteroid could take us all out in short order. A plague could also do it, given viruses ability to defeat antibiotics, adapt. I have not been able to access the website listed, so I'm not sure what rob has in mind.

I have done much research into this. In my world, the near term extinction of the human species (by 2040), is a fact." On a longer time scale, accounting for the ultimate of extinction by natural causes, there ain't no Homo Erectus walkin' 'round no more, neither.

Or we could have an insect apocalypse. (Just popped up on my web page).

The big question is: can humans survive the total collapse of the food chain? My guess is no. When society breaks down the electrical grid will fail and the 450+ nuclear reactors on the planet will no longer be operational or maintained. How many of those reactors will melt down and how will it effect life on the planet. I'm thinking it will eradicate all life on earth. Might even burn off the atmosphere. Yeah, we'll try to go into space, and we will try to become cyborgs. The merging of the biological with mechanical will create a hybrid, digitally augmented reality. Human consciousness is being "sucked into" this digital realm as we speak. Look at our addiction to 2 dimensional screens. When a physical object falls into a singularity it's 3d image is literally digitized and recorded on the 2d surface of the black hole. Physics has proven that all of the information required to recreate a 3d realm can be stored on a 2d surface. This is exactly what is happening. Everything is becoming digitized, not for profit or to better humanity or any other reason. Everything and everyone's identity is being digitized because human consciousness is going through the phase transition of a physical/yang bias to a mind/yin bias. A HUGE phase within the cycle of samsara is concluding.

An apocalypse has never successfully been predicted. By their very nature their arrival is unknown. It's called a black swan. (A most excellent book BTW). Definitely a good book, and extremely humorous as well. One of the best books available on logic and the way humans think. Gotta love his everyday examples, such as a guy who rides an escalator 3 floors upstairs in his exercise club to get on a stair master.
