I enjoyed his videos, and he agreed to talk with me via Skype about two years ago. He introduced the concepts of non-duality to me gradually over maybe 4 Skype sessions, and because I was familiar with non-duality to some extent I was able to give him the right answers to his questions. This led to him essentially "confirming" my understanding of his teaching, but he never really called me out on the fact that it was merely an intellectual understanding. I think he may have known, but I wish he would've hammered that point home a bit as it took me years to fully understand how much my love for intellectually understanding advaita was getting in the way of true understanding.

Thanks for that, xiao - that's interesting. Such an unbelievably crucial difference between the two! After years at this myself, I do wonder how much any 'teacher' can actually help when it comes to the crunch ...

Take this for what it's worth, but I strongly advise trying not to skip around between different teachers too much. What helped me the most was sticking with essentially one teacher and not listening to talks or reading books by any other teacher for at least a few weeks. For me it happened to be Rupert Spira that resonated, but after a few weeks of really practicing the ideas of a particular teacher, I see no harm in then trying another. The trap I fell into was trying to consume as many teachings/teachers/traditions as I possibly could, because I thought that somehow it would help things "happen" faster. That most certainly did not work!

Thanks, xiao - though I'm perhaps over-familiar with the 'stick to one teacher' pointer, as I have a history of tending to get a touch dogmatic about whoever's resonating with me! These days, what makes most sense to me is this wonderful UG Krishnamurti quote:
