Pancha-Tattva-Maha Mantra jaya sri-krishna-chaitanya
prabhu nityananda
sri-adwaita gadadhara
shrivasadi-gaura-bhakta-vrinda
TRANSLATION
I offer my respectful obeisances unto Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Lord Nityananda, Sri Advaita, Gadadhara Pandit, Srivas Thakur, and all the devotees of Lord Caitanya.
PURPORT by Srila Prabhupada
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is always accompanied by His plenary expansion Sri Nityananda Prabhu, His incarnation Sri Advaita Prabhu, His internal potency Sri Gadadhara Prabhu, and His marginal potency Srivasa Prabhu. He is in the midst of them as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One should know that Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is always accompanied by these other tattvas. Therefore our obeisances to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu are complete when we say, sri-krishna-chaitanya prabhu nityananda sri-adwaita gadadhara shrivasadi-gaura-bhakta-vrinda. As preachers of the Krsna consciousness movement, we first offer our obeisances to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu by chanting this Panca-tattva mantra; then we say, Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. There are ten offenses in the chanting of the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, but these are not considered in the chanting of the Païca-tattva mantra, namely, sri-krishna-chaitanya prabhu nityananda sri-adwaita gadadhara shrivasadi-gaura-bhakta-vrinda. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is known as maha-vadabtavatara, the most magnanimous incarnation, for He does not consider the offenses of the fallen souls. Thus to derive the full benefit of the chanting of the maha-mantra (Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare), we must first take shelter of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, learn the Panca-tattva mantra, and then chant the Hare Krsna maha-mantra. That will be very effective.

ShivAshish Niranjan, Chant "Hare Krishna" and be Happy " Written 18 Jul 2014
There are three Holy Names that make up the Maha-Mantra, Hare, Krishna, and Rama.
1. 'Hare' is a powerful word that directly addresses the energy of the Lord
2. 'Krishna' is the Name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Krishna is the Possessor of every quality in and out of the universe. He also possesses these qualities in an unlimited quantity.
3. 'Rama' means the reservoir of pleasure.

HARE KRISHNA The ringing of a doorbell, the thought-provoking lecture of an astute scholar, the guttural roar of snarling traffic, or the soothing sounds of a gurgling stream: these are experiences that affect people on physical, emotional and intellectual levels. So much so that people often seek the respite of gentle music to placate their frayed minds at the end of a long agitating day at work. If these material sound vibrations can affect us on so many levels, then what of sounds that transcend the material platform? Ancient sages declare that there are particular spiritual sounds, or mantras that emanate from a spiritual stratum. If one is able to connect with such a pure sound, then one can derive immense benefit that will help one progress through all the materialistic clutter, and help awaken pure consciousness. The greatest such sound for this era is a spiritual sound vibration called the Maha-mantra: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare This sound vibration is not a sectarian chant, nor does one need to even understand its m This sound vibration is not a sectarian chant, nor does one need to even understand its meaning to acquire its full benefit. The words are in Sanskrit, an ancient language that forms the basis for modern Indian languages. ‘Hare’ refer to the spiritual, all pervading energy of the Supreme Lord; ‘Krishna’ means ‘the Supreme Lord who is all attractive’; and ‘Rama’ means ‘that Supreme Lord who is the source of all pleasure’. ‘Maha’ in Mahamantra means the greatest chant for liberation in this era. The chanting of the Mahamantra was introduced to the West by Srila Prabhupada when he arrived in New York in 1966. With virtually no resources, he sat in Tompkins Square Park and chanted the Mahamantra with his set of cymbals. Curious onlookers had their first encounter of a real, live swami dressed in his traditional saffron robes introducing a meditative experience that was to reverberate around the world in a few short years. Embraced by the hippie and pop culture of the day, the words ‘Hare Krishna’ were soon identified with the set of shaven-headed monks of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness or the Hare Krishna Movement as it popularly became known. Even The Beatles, especially George Harrison, were early followers of ISKCON and they recorded the Mahamantra with devotees chanting. Its blissful effects soon spread like wildfire around the world. George Harrison continued to chant this Mahamantra until he passed away. Srila Prabhupada had implicit faith in the chanting of these holy names as a means to liberate the soul from its entanglement in the material world. He taught that the chanting should be done as a daily personal meditation as a means to reinvigorate one’s spiritual consciousness, counteract the distress of this age, and develop love of God. He also gave us the ecstatic collective chanting called kirtan. Using both traditional Indian and Western musical instruments, the chanting of the mantra on the streets by ecstatic groups of followers is nowadays a regular sight in the West. That ‘Hare Krishna’ became a household name all over the world is directly attributed to the effort and purity of Srila Prabhupada. www.prabhupada.net/hare-krishna/

Krishna consciousness is not an artificial imposition on the mind. This consciousness is the original energy of the living entity. When we hear the transcendental vibration, this consciousness is revived and the process is recommended by authorities for this age. By practical experience also, we can perceive that by chanting this maha-mantra, or the great chanting for deliverance, one can at once feel transcendental ecstasy from the spiritual stratum.
When one is factually on the plane of spiritual understanding, surpassing the stages of sense, mind and intelligence, one is situated on the transcendental plane. This chanting of Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare is directly enacted from the spiritual platform, surpassing all lower status of consciousness, namely sensual, mental, and intellectual.

The hare krsna mantra is a very powerful vibratory tool to reverse these duplicating not normal cells that destroy the body. I am not asking the Spirit to give me cancer/kansr but if Spirit does it means I have to chant hare krsna. That way Spirit will lead me back to Spirit. As for independent intelligence every living entity has this. Autonomous by itself like Spirit. Spirit is with independent intelligence and so are we and all Spirit creations.

At the end of Dvapara-Yuga, Narada went to Brahma and addressed him thus: "O Lord, how shall I, roaming over the earth, be able to across Kali ?" To which Brahma thus replied: "Well asked. Hearken to that which all Shrutis (the Vedas) keep secret and hidden, through which one may cross the Samsara (mundane existence) of Kali. He shakes off (the evil effects of) Kali through the mere uttering of the name of the Lord Narayana, who is the primeval Purusha". Again Narada asked Brahma: "What is the name?" To which Hiranyagarbha (Brahma) replied thus:
"Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare. These sixteen names (words) are destructive of the evil effects of Kali. No better means than this is to be seen in all the Vedas. These (sixteen names) destroy the Avarana (or the centripetal force which produces the sense of individuality) of Jiva surrounded by the sixteen Kalas (rays). Then like the sphere of the sun which shines fully after the clouds (screening it) disperse, Parabrahman (alone) shines." Narada asked: "O Lord, what are the rules to be observed with reference to it?" To which Brahma replied that there were no rules for it. Whoever in a pure or an impure state, utters these always, attains the same world of, or proximity with, or the same form of, or absorption into Brahma.
Whoever utters three and a half Crores (or thirty-five millions) times this Mantra composed of sixteen names (or words) crosses the sin of the murder of a Brahmana. He becomes purified from the sin of the theft of gold. He becomes purified from the sin of cohabitation with a woman of low caste. He is purified from the sins of wrong done to Pitris, Devas and men. Having given up all Dharmas, he becomes freed at once from all sins. He is at once released from all bondage. That he is at once released from all bondage is the Upanishad.
