You can get a hint from the name this is from Nisargadatta, what I simply call the direct path. Before awakening I would listen to Nis speak about the unborn, absolute, the I am etc and so little made any sense. After it all made such perfect sense. Nis always brings it back to the I am. Not you as the I and Am as something else but I Am which he tells us is prior to any experience. I guess you could say the I Am is the first manifestation of consciousness. So Nis always taught to first find, sense this I AM being-ness and then with a quiet and relax mind surrender to this presence. I will tell you when I gave up the idea of knowing anything and went into this as the no-knowing that I knew nothing just as I was in the unborn, waking up was instance. It took no time at all and of course it's always there right now in the now for everyone(everyone and no-one) Please understand this is not a hard or difficult journey but our minds will make it one. the mind(ego) is scared shitless of waking up not because anything will happen to it(ego) but simply because the ego believes this to be the case. Oh mind what a mess you can make when you feel threaten. Forgive me I am new here and what I see is the mind trying to think itself to awakeness. Sorry but it will and cannot happen for a number of reason the first being you were and never are your mind so how can it wake up. Second you are already awake and always has been awake it's not the mind that wakes up it's the Absolute which you are rediscovering itself through a imagined but feels real you. When this happened to this one it was like man this is so crazy because I knew all the time, I was in it all the time it was closer and is closer than this body-mind. How could I miss such a thing but yet I did for over 30 years of seeking. These days I can find no seeker, the seeker is gone. Just before I awaken I had this sense a sense of simple being-ness when I opened my eyes this same witness was and is the same with no change when I was 5, 10, 20 or 50. It's always the same because this is you or the self with a capital S. My suggestion to anyone that truly desires to wake up is to simply quiet the mind and to just sit in the no-knowing while sensing the I AMness which is your true nature. It's really all you need to do. Then it will happen not in a day or a week or a year it will happen NOW. Pradeep Apte a friend of mine who wrote the Nisargadatta Gita also has written 2 non published new books. His work writing the Nisargadatta is in my opinion the best work that truly shows what Nis is telling us. That book helped me so much. However his new book titled The unborn Nisargadatta will blow you away. The book is full of power of raw potential to not only wake you up but to make your personal self disappear. It's a very small book. I will see if I can attach the book here as a attachment for everyone. The unborn Nisargadatta will bring you to the place as the unborn. The unborn has no use for any knowledge how could it be it's the unborn. You see just as you read this there's IDK a power if you will.. So please enjoy his new work, be careful it's only for serious seekers. The book will bring the real you out from this magical hide and seek game right into perfect view.. All love ASW The Unborn Nisargadatta.pdf (231.66 KB)

For those who are attracted to this particular approach, this is a tried-and-true path to the Infinite. Bankei taught the same sort of thing, but used zazen as his path. His book, "The Unborn," points to the same ultimate reality. ATA-T will lead to the same thing, as will many other paths. May all beings discover The Unborn.

Thanks ZD. It's such a very easy way to wake up at least for me unlike some great teachers that sat in front of a wall for 20 years or whatever you don't need to do any of that all it truly takes is a quiet relax mind so that your true nature of who you are has a chance to dissolve your personal self. When for example I looked through my eyes at the age of 5 or 10 or 40 the same presence the I AM was doing the looking it wasn't the person. We all have this and since we have this we are never very far from waking up. After we wake up as you said we do become very ordinary people of course I don't think the character changes much. Richard Rose said and I am paraphrasing if you are a son of a bit.ch before waking up you will be the same after. I see this a lot in forums where one has some of the same old senior members acting exactly the same way even though 5 or 10 years has went by. As for me the really only thing that changed was this sense of wonderful emptiness that is always present with me unless I need to engaged with something in the world then it takes back seat . I guess you can say that's it's default position and it comes back when I disengaged. However if I am busy in the world talking and sharing about this emptiness then it's right there with me. A great comfort it is. Peace ASW For those who are attracted to this particular approach, this is a tried-and-true path to the Infinite. Too funny! During all of my dreams last night I was constantly looking at things and saying, "I am the witness of this; I am the Unborn." When I woke up this morning, my first thought was, "Wow. I can see how this approach might yield results much faster than some other traditional approaches. It almost instantly puts one in witness mode and takes one out of the mind. Very cool."

Methinks you were lucid dreaming too! That's the method, as far as I know: just continually reminding oneself that one is actually awake and witnessing whatever is happening. And I see what you're saying about applying it to the 'actual' wakeful state as well. As I recall, Steven Norquist had a smashing awakening from this approach (the Haunted Universe). Though, it sounded creepy and disembodied, really. Not sure what he's up to now, years later.

Good morning ZD. That is exactly how it worked for me. I do have to say the the Unborn approach seems to really power up those that have already had a awakening of sorts..yes I feel it's extremely powerful..

I liked the unborn pdf, I only spent 20 minutes reading it all (but to be fair, that's a lot for me) but I found it had a very soothing energy to it. So that was written by your friend...did your friend spend time with Niz or has he come to know Niz through his books etc?

Even folks like Remesh could never write such a Gita.

Even folks like Remesh could never write such a Gita. We shouldn't rule out Ramesh. He wrote some very interesting books. Here is a quote towards the end of "The Final Truth: A Guide to Ultimate Understanding". "Enlightenment brings about a transformation of perception andĀ attitude -a metanoesis -whereby for the rest of the life-span, the "individual person", having lost his individuality becomes the mahakarta, the mahabhokta, the mahatyag. As a mahakarta (the supreme doer of actions), he is totally free of doubt, which is inevitably based on the ego-concept. Appropriate actions get performed through him in any circumstances (whether they may be considered as right or wrong according to the current social standards). The point is that his actions are not tainted by any of the multitude of mental notions and prejudices. "He" witnesses the actions with complete indifference to the results that might follow, since he is not the doer. As a mahabhokta (the supreme enjoyer), he actively enjoys all the natural and spontaneous experiences which come about without any desire or effort. Even when engaged in actions, he does not grasp or cling to what would generally be considered as "acceptable", nor does he abhor or avoid and reject anything that would generally be considered "unacceptable". As a maliatyagi (the supreme renouncer), he has renounced his separate individuality as the "me" opposed to the "other" and thereby has at once renounced all other interrelated opposites including birth and death, good and evil, etc. He is thus the pure witnessing of the dream-play play that this life is."

Yes good stuff he said the same thing I said but with many more words. We=hen you ar SR and surrender to the Absolute you are giving what you think you are the actual presence over therefore whatever happens can happen without any noise. I'm far from perfect with this as we still have a apparent body-mind but the more we can yield the better

I've been reading I Am Unborn. The reminder is a nice encapsulation of the positive approach (who am I, really?) and the negative approach (neti neti). It's a two-pronged attack, at once refocusing on what is always there and also distinguishing what is only an appearance.
Whereas I get a bit confused about 'I am That' -- what is the That? -- this "I am Unborn" target is very clear, but extremely slippery (for me). When I get lost (in the born) I remind myself by closing my eyes, maybe move my head around, and recognize that which remains aware and unchanging.
The document reads almost as a list of affirmations. I can see how it would even be more powerful if it was a resource/supplement in the context of a relationship with an actual breathing teacher. The force of a multidimensional psycho-emotional relationship would provide extra oomph to the message, which is very clear. It seems to me a good exercise to go with this reading would be to make one's own 'affirmations' with 'I am Unborn' being the central focus. Put it in your own words, repeat often.

I think I posted both new works by Pradeep Apte one is the unborn Niz and the other is The unborn Gita which is much larger. I take it you are reading the shorter one the unborn Niz right? It's extremely powerful cause it has the ability to transport you right to the witness state. When in this witness you will easily see that the THAT and unborn are the same. A simple yet powerful practice I use is before bedtime while I am in bed I use I am the Unborn much like a Mantra. When you finish the short one read The unborn Gita

Actually Pradeep sent them to me in a word doc and I made pdf's from them. The Unborn Niz has hardly been read by anyone. The unborn Gita also.
