This is about Jane Roberts' Seth, with a Chinese / Buddhist slant
【許添盛醫師/賽斯】《療鬱系》走過靈魂黑暗期 [Doctor Xu Tiansheng/Seth] "Healing Depression" has passed through the dark period of soul
You have your pain in your life, your melancholy or your anxiety, or you have to meet the bottleneck of life. I am the first to be sure. This is called the darkness before dawn. This is called the dark period of the soul. You must keep your eyes in mind.
No matter how bad you think you are now, the inner divinity and Buddha-nature in your heart will appear and will appear. You must pass this level. You must pass this level because you want to ask for help.
That heart opened a gap in the universe, and the energy of the entire universe began to come out and the inner mind began to come out.
So this point is really going to increase everyone’s confidence. I want to tell everyone that sometimes there is some darkness when we face life.
There must be certain levels that you may not be able to pass, but once you pass that level, you will be vast and vast, so it really seems to some people that you think you can’t go through things, but what I want to tell you is what you passed.

(“When we leave the physical body where do we go?”) You go where you want to go. Now. When your ordinary, conscious, waking mind is lulled in like your sleep state, you travel in other dimensions. You are already having experience within those other dimensions. You are preparing your own way. When you die, you go into those ways which you have prepared. There are various periods of training that vary according to the individual. You must understand the nature of reality before you manipulate within it intelligently and well. In this environment and in physical reality you are learning … you are supposed to be learning … that your thoughts have reality and that you create the reality that you know. When you leave this dimension, then you concentrate upon the knowledge that you have gained. If you still do not realize that you create the reality that you know, then you return and again you learn to manipulate and again and again you see the results of your own inner reality as you meet it objectified. You teach yourself the lesson until you have learned it. And when you have learned it, then you have begun to learn how to handle the consciousness that is yours intelligently and well. And then you can form images for the benefit of others, and lead them and guide them. And then you can continue, you can continue to enlarge the scope of your understanding and consciousness … and as you do this, you take on a more conscious awareness of your responsibility. And your responsibility is not difficult to understand.

(“How do you discover those answers for yourself?”)
Now, there are many ways … but only one real way. And the way is to begin the journey, as Ruburt told you, into the nature of your own consciousness for the answers are within you and not out from you … and no one can tell you the answers. Now in one way, each individual will find his own answer … and yet all answers, in another way, are one.
You must try to forget for a period of time each day the self that you think of as yourself … the adult pretensions, the adult bignesses. You must remember the childhood spontaneity. You must think of the freedom that is within a flower. Now it seems to you that a flower cannot move, and therefore has no freedom. And yet I tell you, you must think about the freedom of a flower.
You must dissociate yourself from the person that you know. Close your eyes. Imagine anything that you like that is pleasant to you. It makes no difference what it is. Then imagine yourself stepping apart from yourself in whatever way you choose. And then imagine that all about you there is another dimension and you need only take one step at a time … and you will find your answers. You have only to begin. There is an adventure and it is within you. And there are answers, and they are within you … and you can find them. Now. You have more questions?

Now, dear friends, you all dwell in the same unlimited dimension … you simply have not opened your eyes to see it. You think that you are blind and so you do not see. The universe in which I dwell is the universe in which all of you dwell. Some of you have better eyesight than others and the vision is not physical. Now. You have done will with theories; now, I tell you forget them. Forget the self that has the theories … and begin to experience. To do this, follow the directions that I have given, but also get in the habit of looking about you morning, noon and night … and realizing that there is more within every environment than each small room that you see.
Realize that there are personalities that you cannot see physically, yet they are there. And look positively for them. Realize that there are voices you cannot hear with your physical ears, and listen for them inwardly. Now. I have been in many pasts an intellectual gentleman and a frivolous female who loved to play with a ball in the bright afternoon and had no chores to perform, seemingly an idle life and seemingly a quite useless personality … I was not burdened with intellect … and yet in that one particular life I learned more about the nature of spontaneity and joy than in many of my ponderous intellectual existences. The trick is not to try too hard, to realize that the answers are available, that they are there, and that you can find them. All that is necessary is given to the flower. And all that you want will be given to you, but you must want what you want desperately enough, wholeheartedly enough. An intellectual curiosity will give you some answers but it will not give you the deepest answers. You must be willing, quite willing; not only willing but anxious to travel in dimensions that you are not acquainted with on an egotistical basis. And into this reality, you do not go as a grown man with preconceived ideas. You go as a wonderer without preconceptions. And you become acquiescent and the answers are given to you … and to you … and to you.

Elementary telepathy"Now. On its simplest level, and this is hardly simple, but on its most basic level, what you call telepathy operates in the following manner. Telepathy on this level is the intangible, nonmaterial communication of inner energy, or inside energy, to the physical materialization of itself within the physical field. This elementary telepathy is not the communication of thought as such, but is the communication of intent, desire and purpose. It is therefore the communication of inner energy to various still-forming aspects of itself, a blazing, so to speak, of invisible paths or bridges. And at the same time the laying down of these intangible paths serve as the inner framework over which or upon which future physical lines or structures will be laid. No physical communication systems, such as nerves and so forth, are accomplished before these invisible inner energy telepathic structures are first set forth, for these impress within the unformed physical structures the habits and ways which the physical structures will then follow; and these inside telepathic lines continue to exist within the physical structures after they are completed, and for a while after the physical structures have been broken down." On Truth Seth Speaks, Appendix, Session 596The Physical Universe as Idea Construction, mentioned by Ruburt in his Introduction, did indeed represent our first formal contact, although Ruburt was not aware of it at that time. The experience came within a framework that he could accept – that of highly accelerated inspiration. His consciousness left his body only after he was in the throes of what seemed to him to be inspiration of almost unbearable intensity. Had his habits instead led him, say, to regular prayer, then that framework could also have been used. In all such cases several qualities are apparent: an ability to look inward, to concentrate deeply, to lose the sharp edges of the physically oriented self in contemplation, and an intense desire to learn. These must be coupled with the inner confidence that pertinent knowledge can be directly received. To those who believe that all answers are known, there is little need to search. ... Above all, individuals who receive such information in states of expanded consciousness are already those who feel deeply within themselves connections not only with the earth itself, but with deeper realities. Consciously they may often be unaware of this basic quality within themselves. They do not accept answers given by others, but insist upon finding their own. ... The energy generated by some such experiences is enough to change a life in a matter of moments, and to affect the understanding and behavior of others. These are intrusions of knowledge from one dimension of activity to another. They are highly charged and volatile. Unknowingly, the individual who receives such information is himself a part of it. The entire feeling-tone of his present personality is changed – and directly – by the information he receives. To the extent that he is true to his own vision, possibilities of expansion are available to him that he could hardly have achieved otherwise. Often the information given clashes with previously held ideas and beliefs, however. Otherwise, there would be no need for the sometimes explosive, intrusive qualities of such experiences, for there would be no barriers. Such personalities often then must learn to correlate their intuitive knowledge, to reform intellectual frameworks strong enough to support it. Such personalities also are usually gifted with the ability to draw upon unusual amounts of energy. Often they must learn at a fairly young age not to dissipate the energy. They can seem, for example, to go off in many directions at once, before this lesson is brought home. The late thirties and early forties are frequently involved simply because the need to know in such personalities often reaches a peak then. The required patterns of behavior are sufficiently set. The energy has been directed, and the individual has had enough time to realize that the accepted frameworks and answers make little sense to him. At their strongest, such experiences can propel intuitive knowledge from the private domain to change civilization. The incredible charge is always in the initial experience. Contained within it is the condensed energy from which all other developments come. The personality involved can react in many ways. Great adjustments are necessary, and often changes of behavior. The individual now realizes that he is indeed a living web of reality, and this becomes immediate conscious knowledge. ... Now such experiences or such doorways to knowledge are available to each individual, and to some extent each individual partakes in them. They appear in much less conspicuous form, often in intuitive decisions made with seeming suddenness, beneficial changes, intuitive hunches. Often midway in life an individual will suddenly seem to see things clearly in a physical manner, straightening out his affairs. A life that seems headed for disaster will suddenly become victorious, for example. These are all variations of the same experience, though in lesser form. In normal living and in day-by-day experience, all the knowledge you need is available. You must, however, believe that it is, put yourself in a position to receive it by looking inward and remaining open to your intuitions, and most important, by desiring to receive it. I said a few paragraphs back that individuals such as Ruburt are themselves a portion of the knowledge they receive. This applies to each person, each reader. There is a great fallacy operating. People believe that there is one great truth, that it will appear and they will know it. Now a flower is a truth. So is a lamp bulb. So is an idiot and a genius, a glass and an ant. There is little exterior similarity, however. Truth is all of these seemingly distinct, separate, different realities. So Ruburt is a part of the truth he perceives, and each of you are part of the truths that you perceive. “Truth”, reflected through Ruburt, becomes in a way new truth, for it is perceived uniquely, (as it would be for each individual who perceived it). It is not less truth or more truth in those terms. It becomes new truth. Such "new truths" can still be very ancient indeed, but truth is not a thing that must always have the same appearance, shape, form, or dimension. Those who persist, therefore, in shielding their truths from questions threaten to destroy the validity of their knowledge. Again, those who are so certain of their answers will lack that need to know that can lead them into still greater dimensions of understanding. Any valid expansion of consciousness is itself, of course, a part of the message. The personality finds itself encountering living truth, and knows that truth only exists in those terms. I have used the term “ expansion of consciousness” here rather than the more frequently used “cosmic consciousness”, because the latter implies an experience of proportions not available to mankind at this time. Intense expansions of consciousness by contrast to your normal state may appear to be cosmic in nature, but they barely hint at those possibilities of consciousness that are available to you now, much less begin to approach a true cosmic awareness. The ideas presented in this book should allow many readers to expand their perceptions and consciousness in ways they may not have believed possible. The book itself is written in such a way that all those ready to learn will benefit. There is meaning not only in the written words themselves, but connections existing between them that do not appear, and that will have meanings to various levels of the personality. The integrity of any intuitive information depends upon the inner integrity of the person who receives it. Expansion of consciousness, therefore, requires honest self appraisals, an awareness of one’s own beliefs and prejudices. It brings a gift and a responsibility. All who wish to look within themselves, to find their own answers, to encounter their own “appointment with the universe”, should therefore become well acquainted with the intimate workings of their own personality. Such self knowledge is in itself highly advantageous, and in one way is its own reward. It is impossible, however, to look inward with any clearness if you are unwilling to change your attitudes, beliefs, or behavior, or examine those characteristics that you consider uniquely your own. You cannot examine reality without examining yourself, in other words. You cannot hold encounters with All That Is apart from yourself, and you cannot separate yourself from your experience. You cannot see “truth”. It cannot be manipulated. Whoever thinks he is manipulating truth is manipulating himself. You are truth. Then discover yourself.

Interesting!
NoME Chapter 1: Session 803, May 2, 1977
... The scientist probing the brain of an idiot or a genius will find only the physical matter of the brain itself.
Not one idea will be discovered residing in the brain cells. You can try to convey an idea, you can feel its effects, but you cannot see it as you can the chair. Only a fool would say that ideas were nonexistent, however, or deny their importance.
You cannot find any given dream location, either, within the brain itself. The solid matter of your world is the result of the play of your senses upon an inner dimension of activity that exists as legitimately, and yet as tantalizingly hidden, as an idea or a dream location.
It is easy for you to see that seeds bring forth the fruit of the earth, each [of] their own kind. No seed is identical to any other, yet generally speaking there are species that serve to unite them. You do not mistake an orange for a grape. In the same way ideas or thoughts form general patterns, bringing forth in your world certain kinds of events. In this respect your thoughts and feelings “seed” physical reality, bringing forth materializations. ... Each person’s thoughts flow into the formation, forming part of the earth’s psychic atmosphere. From that atmosphere flows the natural earthy patterns from which your seasons emerge with all of their variety and effects. You are never victims of natural disasters, though it may seem that you are, for you have your hand in forming them. You are creatively involved in the earth’s cycles. No one can be born for you, or die for you, and yet no birth or death is really an isolated event, but one in which the entire planet participates. In personal terms, again, each species is concerned not only with survival but with the quality of its life and experience.
In those terms, natural disasters ultimately end up righting a condition that earlier blighted the desired quality of life, so that adjustments were made.
The “victims” choose to participate in those conditions at spiritual, psychological, and biological levels. Many of those who are counted among the fatalities might otherwise die of extended illnesses, for example. At cellular levels such knowledge is available, and in one way or another imparted, often in dreams, to the individual. Conscious comprehension need not follow, for many people know such things, and pretend not to know them at the same time.
Others have finished with their challenges; they want to die and are looking for an excuse – a face-saving device. However, those who choose such deaths want to die in terms of drama, in the middle of their activities, and are in a strange way filled with the exultant inner knowledge of life’s strength even at the point of death. At the last they identify with the power of nature that seemingly destroyed them.
That identification often brings about in death – but not always – an added acceleration of consciousness, and involves such individuals in a kind of “group death experience”, where all of the victims more or less embark into another level of reality “at the same time”.
Those people were aware just beneath consciousness of the possibilities of such an event long before the disaster occurred, and could until the last moment choose to avoid the encounter. Animals know of weather conditions ahead of time, as old tales say. This perception is a biological part of your heritage also. The body is prepared, though consciously it seems you are ignorant.
There are innumerable relationships that exist between the interior environment of the body and the weather patterns. The ancient feelings of identification with storms are quite valid, and in that respect the “realism” of feelings is far superior to the realism of logic. When a person feels a part of a storm, those feelings speak a literal truth. Logic deals with exterior conditions, with cause-and-effect relationships. Intuitions deal with immediate experience of the most intimate nature, with subjective motions and activities that in your terms move far quicker than the speed of light, and with simultaneous events that your cause-and-effect level is far too slow to perceive.
In that regard also, the activities of the inner environment are too fast for you to follow intellectually. Your intuitions, however, can give you clues to such behavior. A country is responsible for its own droughts, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes – and for its own harvests and rich displays of products, its industry and cultural achievements, and each of these elements is related to each other one.
If the quality of life that is considered spiritually and biologically necessary fails, then adjustments occur. A political problem might be altered by a natural disaster if political means fail. On the other hand, the rousing creative energies of the people will emerge.
Excellence will show itself through the arts, cultural creativity, technological or sociological accomplishments. The species tries to fulfill its great capacities. Each physical body in its own way is like the world. It has its own defenses and abilities, and each portion of it strives for a quality of existence that will bring to the smallest parts of it the spiritual and biological fulfillment of its own nature.

A SESSION WITH SETH by Helen Wambach Ph.D. --- link... Later Jane told me that Seth wished to speak to me. I thought that Seth would want to discuss my past life regression experiments, as I had talked to Jane in some detail about the work I was doing. Jane invited me to sit down with a cup of coffee and we began talking about hypnosis and reincarnation. After about three minutes of conversation, Jane's coffee cup came down on the saucer with a distinct clink, her glasses came off and Seth sat there opposite me. I felt a sense of awe - a feeling that I tended to reject intellectually on the grounds that I was properly sophisticated as a psychologist. Nevertheless, that primitive awe did come to me and could not be denied. Seth's voice boomed out, and to my surprise, he began talking about the adolescent group home that I was running in Red Bank, New Jersey. He began by supporting my basic principles, which were to allow these young people as much freedom as possible within the confines of the group home. " You are right in assuming that these young people cannot express `proper behavior' until they have had an opportunity to allow the negative feelings in their expression." I explained to Seth that it was quite difficult to get the proper authorities to go along with my plan of allowing the young people to set up their own rules. Seth was sympathetic to my point of view, and said that this was a good way to provide the psychological elbow room needed by these angry teenagers. Seth had a twinkle in his eye when he said," Remember, Helen, you are not saving anyone. You have the idea that these young people are victims and it is up to you to save them." It was quite true that at some level I did think of myself as a ministering angel to poor battered children, an illusion which Seth was now destroying. Seth continued, " Remember that each of these young people choose their own path." I felt like arguing with the great master. "But they were battered and abused as small children, surely they couldn't be responsible for that and the effect it had on them." Seth responded, " Ah, but they chose their parents, they chose the lifestyles to experience in this incarnation. "Seth went on to give the names and backgrounds of several of the young people under my care. This was certainly astonishing, because Jane could not have known the names or the backgrounds of these girls. Seth made me understand that these young people had set problem lives for themselves in order to overcome past fears and resistances. " In a sense, they need you and they need the group home right now. But so do you need them as a part of your development. Remember, when you feel that you are the doctor administering to the patients, we are all seekers and we all learn from each other." I had expressed a lot of concern about one of my girls. I had a need to keep all of these girls in the home with me, to avoid having them return to mental hospitals or jails. Seth seemed to know this, and broke into my thoughts. "Diane will not come back to the home. She will be all right, but it is not necessary for you to devote so much concern to this one child. Focus your concern on the others." Seth was right, it turned out later that Diane did not return to the group home. Seth seemed so interested in the group home that he gave suggestions on how to arrange the physical layout. " You need to set aside one room - perhaps the dining room - as a place where physical exercise can be made available. These young people need to express bodily some of the anger, some of the powerful emotions that are charging through them. Give the man opportunity to do this through physical exercise." How did Seth know that such a room was available in my group home? And how did Seth know that Diane would not be returning? My experience with Seth was an eye opener in many ways. His knowledge of my work in Red Bank was definitely super normal; Jane could not have known the details. But beyond that, the sense of awe I had in Seth's presence, and the way in which is voice seemed to lift and charge my thoughts - widen my horizons - was something outside all of my experiences. I felt that I had found a guru. But Seth warns against gurus. As he had said that evening, " You will not find it in books, or concepts, or precepts; it does not come from others. It comes from the intimate experience of your own being." Was there a Seth level in me, in all of us, as there was in Jane? Jane's Seth was such a marvelous teacher. Was this because Jane herself was an unusually bright, perceptive, and well educated woman? Surely this played a part in the richness of Seth's vocabulary. No medium is merely a channel, but an active participant in the translation from the wider consciousness to the here-and-now world. ...

Vision Improvement
Ruburt’s eyeglasses will shortly need changing, since he insists upon using them. The use of them, however, would not be necessary if he would utilize the healing abilities which he possesses.
(“Can he consciously use these healing abilities?”)
The question is poorly put. He can use them with the aid of the unconscious, and he certainly is learning to use his unconscious.
The difficulty is in the construction of his images on a visual field, rather than in his perception of them. He should be able now to construct such images more faithfully, but habit and conditioning holds back, though the ability to construct images on a visual level has already improved.
As long as he uses glasses, the ability will not be utilized, and the glasses will shortly need to be changed.

"As mentioned earlier, earthly existence is a training period; and yet as far as possible I would like you to forget your ordinary ideas of progression.
Ideas of good, better, best can lead you astray, for example. You are learning to be as completely as possible. In one way you are learning to create yourselves. In so doing during the reincarnational cycle, you are focusing your main abilities in physical life, developing human qualities and characteristics, opening new dimensions of activity. This does not mean that good does not exist, or that in your terms you do not "progress," but your concepts of good and progression are extremely distorted."

The Nature Of Perception (5)
In your system of reality you are learning what mental energy is, and how to use it. You do this by constantly transforming your thoughts and emotions into physical form. You are supposed to get a clear picture of your inner development by perceiving the exterior environment. What seems to be a perception, an objective concrete event, independent and apart from you the perceiver, is instead the physical materialization of the perceiver’s own inner emotions, energy and mental environment.
As long as scientists insist upon considering the perceiver and the perceived event as entirely separate, then the true nature of perception will not be understood. ... Your inner environment is the total of your inner perceptions of inner reality. This is what you have to work with, and the raw material practically available. You then project this into physical events which you then physically perceive. ... If the nature of perception were clearly understood then the nature of reality as you know it would also be understood much more clearly. Only half the process of perception, so-called, is even considered, however. Only half of the circle is known. The entire circle consists of those projections outward from events, as well as the mechanisms by which the events are then physically perceived.

You construct your own physical universe, and respond to it
"I told you that without telepathy language would be meaningless and ineffective. It is true that each of you constructs his own physical universe, and responds to it. It is also true however, that through continuous telepathy you are acquainted with the ideas of others concerning their approximate physical universes; and while you construct and see your own, you also construct any given material object taking into consideration its approximate size, width, thickness and location, as received through telepathy from others."

Consciousness Units
"We must unfortunately often deal with analogies, because they can form bridgeworks between concepts. There are units of consciousness, then, as there are units of matter. I do not want you to think of these units as particles. There is a basic unit of consciousness that, expressed, will not be broken down, as once it was thought that an atom was the smallest unit and could not be broken down. The basic unit of consciousness obviously is not physical. It contains within itself innately infinite properties of expansion, development, and organization; yet within itself always maintains the kernel of its own individuality. Despite whatever organizations it becomes part of, or how it mixes with other such basic units, its own identity is not annihilated." --- Session 682 (UR1)
"CU's can also operate as "particles" or as "waves." Whichever way they operate, they are aware of their own existences. When CU's operate as particles, in your terms, they build up a continuity in time. They take on the characteristics of particularity. They identify themselves by the establishment of specific boundaries. (Long pause.) They take certain forms, then, when they operate as particles, and experience their reality from "the center of" those forms. They concentrate upon, or focus upon, their unique specifications. They become in your terms (underlined) individual." --- DEaVF1 Chapter 3: Session 889, December 17, 1979
