For a little intro, here is a satsang from October 2014:
The Guru's protection
Avinash's was asked a question in satsang:
"Could you talk about the guru's protection for their disciples. As part of your answer could you please tell whether faith in the Guru's protection is simply a decision."
Avinash's answered:
The relationship between a Guru and their disciple is a relationship that, using a modern term, I would say is 'out of this world'. There are so many types of relationships we experience in our life. When we are born, usually we have a mother and father, so our first relationship is with our mother and father. The mother will do anything for the child. The mother will think of only the best interests of the child. To see a mother and her baby together... The mother might be breast feeding her baby - to see that bond, that connection, the love the mother has for the baby, the surrendering nature the baby has towards the mother, is beautiful. Beautiful. Then we have a relationship with our siblings, then we have a relationship with our best friends, then we have a relationship with our husband or wife, boyfriend, girlfriend. So all these relationships that I'm sharing are very close, very beautiful. When I say they are very beautiful, what I mean is that your life will be more beautiful because of these relationships. But all these relationships are the relationships of this world. They are very different to a relationship the disciple has with a Master, and the Master has with the disciple. The bond of the mother and child is very close. But the bond that a Guru has with the disciple is much more close. You might think, "How could that be?" You see, a mother loves the child with all her heart - that is beautiful, is divine. But a mother doesn't necessarily have that level of awareness, that understanding of her child, compared to a Master's understanding of a disciple. For example, a mother can have two children from birth, nine months in the womb. Let's say they're twins, and they look identical. The mother might know and understand one twin very well - their behaviour, their tendencies, which type of thing makes the child more anxious, which things the child likes more, what type of veggies that child likes more, what type of thing means a lot to that child. And the second twin, the mother may know very little - she knows a little bit, but the mother can understand the first child twice as much as the other twin. Sometimes a mother that has five children will feel she loves them all equally, but she feels more closeness and a deeper understanding towards a particular child. See, that means there's less of a closeness and understanding with the other ones. So I'm just sharing using that comparison - even for two children the connection with the mother can be different...
