Hello all,
I'm a middle-aged man living in North America. My "unrest" comes from the question: "Who/what am I?" I understand that no answer will convince me unless I experience it directly.
My interest in spirituality started about a year ago, after a direct encounter with the infinite - something similar to "it's turtles all the way down." Why do we even need the turtles?
I am also preoccupied by the deep sleep state, and what happens to awareness during this state.
Nice to meet you all here!

Welcome Porto. You've come to the right place. A lot of people on this site can offer good advice, but it looks like you're already on the right track. Having had a peek at the Infinite, you already know what is possible. Just bear that question---Who am I?--in mind, and sooner or later you'll find out. You're in for a wild ride! Cheers.

Thank you for your welcome, and for your replies on "misconceptions" & "spiritual experiences".
I still experience time very much, although it has a different flavor. Time doesn't seem as linear as before, but it's still here.
You summarized my past year very well on the other thread. Indeed, I didn't get the whole shebang. I still have questions and I don't really know why I'm alive.
As you mentioned, everybody is already doing what they are supposed to do, so I stopped bothering them - but I feel compelled to tease when someone says something like "I only like the color red."
Life does look fresh and interesting, even though I'm not as attached to it as before.

The self-inquiry question "Who am I?" will take a fair amount of time to answer. This is because the question challenges the deepest structure of our meta-reality. The cognition of self and other is the root cause of our seeing the world as if we are a "me in here" looking at "a world out there," so it takes most of us a long time to penetrate that issue. The question, "Why am I here?" can be penetrated much faster. Just bear in mind whatever questions you have and spend as much time as possible looking at the world, listening to sounds, or pursuing whatever other practices of direct perception (such as breath counting or breath awareness) that appeal to you. You already know the answers to your questions, but it takes a while to gain conscious access to that knowledge. Cheers.

Hey porto. Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have good perspective on the process, and that's all you need really.
As long as you realize that the process is one of deconstruction, less and less in the way all the time, then it's pretty natural, although it can potentially be quite uncomfortable. Anyway, I quite look forward to chatting with you.
