Posting yesterday I thought of a great film. It's called Wretches and Jabberers. It is centered around two autistic men who only learned to communicate after becoming adults (one being particularly horribly institutionalized for years). They each have a mentor who has worked with them for many years. In the film they travel to several places around the world telling their story and meeting with other adults with autism. In one very interesting segment they visit a Japanese Buddhist Temple.
It might be the most moving film I have ever seen......(and BTW, the name comes from them, what they call themselves in an honest, gentle, humorous self-deprecating way......).......

FWIW last weekend I went to see "Captain Phillips" and was extremely impressed. It's one of the best films out there, and I was amazed at how the film makes one feel for both the pirates and the captain. Very moving with incredible tension during the final hour. It's amazing that Tom Hanks didn't get nominated for an oscar for his role in that movie.

Seemed to me that the writers and directors got there by being hands off and letting reality tell the tale.

Seven and The Silence of the Lambs, only two movies I wished I hadn't seen, but couldn't walk out of.........(I've never seen The Exorcist, I read the book before the movie came out, and that erased any desire to see the movie....book scared the B-Hesus out of me..........& I have no interest in horror films.......)....

i forgot to mention ´´fear of flying´´
with jeff bridges
guy survives airplane crash and loses all fear
helps a another survivor over her guilt of losing her babychild, in a very unorthodox way
i think the guy (bridges) in the movie is ´´enlightened´´
..when he is asked to lie to the insurance company, which would be ´´good for everybody´´, he runs out of the room
with a scream
he can no longer handle any dishonesty

Lecter is a great character and realized very well by Hopkins. How many times do we get a protagonist who is so out of bounds? Plus the direction and everything was superb.

Haven't seen Soldier, but looks like it's an easy action flick. I would have watched. WDMC is stupid, but I had no problem watching it. I hate Robin Williams, his jokes are stupid, like Jim Carrey, he is trying too hard. "Here look look, I'm making a funny right now, please laugh." Fúck off. I like Bill Murray kind of humour. Or Wes Anderson. "Did you just call me Coltrane?" Royal Tenenbaums is an awesome movie. But Robin did one good movie. Bicentennial Man. It was boring first, but it sort of came together, I even shed a tear at the end. I hated him in Good Will Hunting, just way too pushy, like he is communicating all the time "please let's hug". Fúck off.

I didn't go through all the posts in this thread so I hope no one else placed this film's link here already.
It's call "David Wants To Fly" and is a free view @ LinkTV. I enjoyed it.

I thought of a highly unusual movie. It's called Never Let Me Go. It takes place in I can only say, an alternative Great Britain. It's a very disorienting and bizarre society. About half of it takes place in a boarding school for children and young adults of all ages. Fairly early you learn there is something odd about the school, there is a special day where the kids get to pick out their own gift or toy. You know it's odd because the kids are excited, but the toys are used, old and sometimes broken.
You eventually learn that there is a certain part of society specifically raised to be body parts for the remainder of society, these kids are raised to be human body parts for sick people. When they finish school they go into society, but they understand that they can be called on at any time to give up an organ. If one is lucky enough they survive usually at max four surgeries over the years. (There is a loophole that gives hope of a better life for the kids.....well, I won't spoil everything).......
The movie is centered around three friends, Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield (the new Spiderman). The odd thing is that it creates a society where all this seems perfectly normal. If it seems dreary, it pretty-much is, but I felt it quite worth my time......(saw it in the theater)....
